Chapter 182: 79. Don’t look at me.
The rustling sound outside the building was so dense it made one’s scalp tingle, as if countless enlarged cockroaches were covering your house, fearing that the next second one might scurry onto your face or anywhere on your body. But now, it wasn’t disgusting cockroaches nearby—it was real monsters that could take your life.
"Damn! Damn! I said we shouldn’t have come out!"
"I feel like they’re everywhere!"
Fisher walked at the front, the limbs of the humans above the corridor kept twitching, reaching out like grabbing toys towards the people running below, but each time before they could touch the people below, a sharp light flashed, severing and splitting those limbs.
Ignoring the nagging group of young people behind him, the moment they had come out with him there was no turning back,, all they could do was protect their loved ones beside them.
The panicked sheepman clutching a dagger followed closely behind Fisher, surveying the monsters leaping in the darkness. Roger, holding a handcane, inadvertently illuminated the wall beside him with its light, revealing the stiff and hideous face of a Human Worm right in front of him.
In the monster’s pupil, which was all white, the reflection of the gentleman wielding the Fluid Sword appeared.
"Fisher! No... something’s not right! Look!"
Seconds later, Roger’s words made Fisher look towards the stairwell wall’s window, where monsters were reaching in with their palms, but Fisher quickly severed them. However, they seemed to feel no pain, as even missing parts of their bodies, they still resolutely ran toward the people behind.
Many monsters surged down, crawling in through a nearby window.
"Help! Something has grabbed my shoulder!"
Behind them, Lady Schwali screamed loudly, and Fisher raised his blade, cutting at the monster’s reaching limb. He glanced above, noticing fewer monsters there than below as more and more of them ran up from behind, reaching for them.
Fisher and Roger, one slashing nearby monsters with his weapon and the other unleashing magic from his handcane, led the group through the dark, facing the incessant assault of monsters until they reached the corridor connecting the third and fourth floors. Just as they were about to reach the fourth floor, the unexpected happened.
As Fisher covered the others running upwards, on the nearby wall, a Magic Emblem flashed, and a pale blue beam shot towards the crowd, bursting several monsters’ heads before the fading light suddenly enveloped the sheepman who was running last.
"Help... help..."
He suddenly collapsed, sprawling on the last few steps. The other people ran swiftly ahead, and it wasn’t until the sheepman called for help that Fisher realized someone had fallen behind. The monsters quickly seized the sheepman’s limbs, dragging him downwards.
"Damn it, forget the demi-human—we’re almost there."
"He’s just Mr. Crow’s slave; we need to move fast!"
Several young people had already reached the edge of the fourth floor and called out to Fisher, seeing the situation behind them. After a silent second, Fisher then turned to Roger in front and shouted,
"Just a bit further, can you get them back?"
"Ah?" Roger wiped the sweat from his forehead. Glancing at the corridor stretching only tens of meters ahead, he nodded and said, "It’s possible...I see Barrier Magic being set up over there, they might not be able to help, and Selena’s magic power is limited. Let’s not bother with that sheepman..."
"Yeah, let’s hurry back, the group below is catching up!"
Fisher glanced at the sheepman, whose face was filled with despair, because of their conversation. After a silent second, he reached out to Roger, saying,
"Give me the handcane!"
Roger hurriedly tossed the glowing handcane, which Fisher caught and then jumped down. As the monsters wailed, Roger watched with wide eyes as Fisher, holding the source of light, chased the dragged sheepman down to the third floor.
"Is that guy insane? For a demi-human..."
"Shut up! If you talked less, perhaps you’d be more useful than that sheep-man, you coward!"
Roger, hearing the young Schwali beside him continue to complain, quickly scolded him coldly, but dared not chase down further. He believed in Fisher’s strength to come back safely, what he needed to do was to quickly get these people back.
Strangely, since Fisher had left, those terrifying monsters seemed to have temporarily moved away from them, all running towards the third floor as if they were only chasing Fisher.
Roger led a large group to the room’s door, which was shimmering with layers of deep white Light Halos. Inside, Selena, looking quite pale, was carving protective magic, ensuring that the room could not be entered.
Selena’s Magic Power alone wasn’t enough, so Carlo had to help too.
Prince Luosang, looking at Carlo’s profile, suddenly asked,
"You’re not just an ordinary waiter?"
"What’s the matter, I’m not here to kill you, just be thankful someone is protecting you."
