Chapter 181: 78. Rescue Operation_3
Fisher’s attacks were much slower than Roger’s because he was still looking for the group’s location. They seemed to have found a room to hide in after realizing something was wrong. There were only monster noises around, making it difficult to pinpoint their exact location.
While they continued searching the suspicious rooms in the hall, a magical glow suddenly lit up on the wall. Roger saw it and yelled, "Watch out!" Fisher turned and slashed with his Fluid Sword, splitting a Three-Ring Medieval Magic "Spirit Flame Ball" in half, which dispersed like fireworks in the darkness.
"My goodness! Those monsters can use magic! They’re the Artificial Witches from the Witch Research Association!"
Fisher couldn’t be bothered to explain, instead, he shouted in Schwali language,
"Where are you?"
After this shout, he suddenly heard one or two knocks coming from a direction in the darkness. Fisher hurriedly turned to look, and with the light behind him, he saw a door of a room storing beverages suddenly open, revealing a sheep’s horn.
Over there.
Several magical emblems, glowing with light, lit up on the wall, as if some magic had been carved into the bodies of the group. Fisher caught glimpses of several monsters with blood-stained emblems on their bodies, and many monsters were howling as they engraved different magic on their companions.
Those magics were all from the Medieval era, but with a low ring number, and the engraving technique was very mechanical, evidently controlled or implanted.
Fisher dodged the magic and hurriedly ran towards it with Roger. Behind them, numerous Human Worms fell to the ground, screaming as they lunged at them. Roger raised a dagger and stabbed into one of the monsters, and immediately its green bodily fluid erupted like a fountain.
"Ptui!"
He watched as the gemstone-embedded dagger of Prince Luosang was submerged in the green liquid, feeling both disgusted and regretful, he abandoned the dagger and focused on wielding his Handcane.
Fisher quickly ran to the doorway of that room, and just as he was about to push the door open, a dagger extended towards him. Carefully looking, a shaven little lamb looked at him fearfully, but relaxed upon realizing he was human.
"You... you’ve finally come... someone is hurt."
The sheepman’s eyes were teary, appearing very adorable and frail. Fisher ignored him, pushed the door open and then closed it, instructing Roger to watch the entrance before he finally examined the inside of the room.
Besides the wife and infant of a Schwali Scholar, there were several young people, but at that moment, they were terrified, huddling behind the beverage shelves. As soon as they saw someone come to rescue them, they walked out excitedly.
"What’s the situation, why are there such creatures outside..."
"My mother is bleeding; she needs to stop the bleeding."
Unexpectedly, the only one capable of resistance was a sheepman slave raised by the Scholar.
Fisher glanced back at the sheepman male who was holding a dagger and sitting by the door. His sweet appearance and clothes stained with monster blood made him look very scared.
A scholar’s wife had been scratched, and Fisher wasn’t sure if the Human Worm’s injury might cause other issues, but now he could only use the Healing Magic on his Handcane to treat her.
The green light glowed, and as Fisher healed her, he explained the situation to them. Hearing that they had to follow Fisher back to the fourth floor, several Scholar’s children desperately shook their heads, refusing to leave.
"No... no, that won’t do; those monsters are definitely after father and Prince Luosang, not us. It’s okay if we just stay here waiting for rescue..."
"Yeah, let’s wait here for the Nali people to rescue us, we can’t help much if we go up anyway."
"I’m sure our fathers would understand."
Great, how filial, the Scholars above are trying to save you, but now you don’t care...
Just then, Roger, who was watching the door, suddenly heard a fierce banging sound. Roger and the sheepman fiercely resisted the door,
"Fisher, we need to leave quickly!"
Upon hearing Roger’s reminder, Fisher coldly glanced at the reluctant young men, silently raised his Fluid Sword, and then sweeping it around them, said,
"I don’t care what you think, you either come with me, or I’ll kill you all now to avoid any burdens, your fathers might not care once they hear your screams, and I don’t want them making irrational decisions that drag us all down."
Watching Fisher, who seemed devilish, the young men finally calmed down. Fortunately, their mother then stepped forward, pulling up their children, and pleaded with Fisher,
"We are willing to go up, we’ll keep the kids from causing you trouble, please protect us..."
"Thump, thump!"
"Fisher!"
The wooden door that Roger was guarding was about to give in, a blood-filled hand punched a hole through, and the sheepman desperately stabbed at the hand that came through.
"We are leaving now, follow the light of this Handcane, and don’t fall behind."
Just as Fisher spoke, even more intense climbing noises came from outside, as if to topple the entire building, with countless insect-like monsters climbing up the outer walls, unknown how many were still in the stairways.
Yet Fisher’s expression did not change; he raised his Fluid Sword, opened the sealed door, and slashed at the incoming monsters,
"Let’s go!"
