Today, Xie Jianyu, the Crown Prince of the Heavenly Empire was getting married to Zhang Fengxi, a prince of Longjing Palace.

The dashing groom in a red wedding robe rode on a heavenly steed to pick up his bride from Fuxi Palace.

He came with a huge entourage that consisted of eighty-eight guards, maids, and servants from Longjing Palace. They were all very excited to greet their future Palace Mistress.

"The groom is here!" The head servant announced loudly when Zhang Fengxi finally arrived.

Xie Jianshen and Xie Jianyu were sitting next to each other in the bride’s bed chamber. Xie Jianshen patted his younger brother’s arm when he heard the announcement.

"He is here. Ready?"

Xie Jianyu gave a subtle nod. But then he pulled at his elder brother’s arm nervously.

"Brother..."

"Hmm?"

Xie Jianyu’s hand slackened.

"Nothing, forget it."

Xie Jianshen smiled. He squeezed Xie Jianyu’s shoulders lovingly.

"It will be fine. Don’t worry too much about the ceremony. At the end of the day, you are going to be Zhang Fengxi’s wife."

Xie Jianyu rose to his feet gingerly. The red veil that hung down from his hair crown prevented him from seeing anything ahead of him.

He held Xie Jianshen’s hand as they walked from his bed chamber to the gate, passing the familiar path that he took ten thousand times, and heading to a life that he knew nothing about.

When his elder brother let go of his hand, an unreasonable fear seized Xie Jianyu’s heart and shook his conviction. Suddenly, he was not sure about the wedding anymore.

Xie Jianyu’s imagination ran wild, until a familiar hand took his hand and squeezed it.

It was Zhang Fengxi.

Warmth flooded Xie Jianyu’s heart, dispelling all the doubt into the air.

The alpha leaned closer to him when he helped his bride climb on a flying palanquin outside of the gate.

Xie Jianyu’s heart skipped a beat when he inhaled the alpha’s familiar pheromones.

Once Xie Jianyu was sitting comfortably inside the palanquin, the curtain was lowered and he was on his own again, accompanied only by his own thoughts.

The palanquin soared toward the sky, pulled by six winged horses that moved in perfect sync.

The groom rode alongside the palanquin, guarding his bride to Longjing Palace, where the wedding ceremony was to take place.

At Longjing Palace, the elders had all taken their seats while waiting for the bride and groom couple to arrive.

Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi went on their knees and offered cups of tea to the Heavenly Emperor, Zhang Zhiyuan, and Lady Song respectively.

Lady Song was especially emotional today. She kept a handkerchief ready at all times to dab tears out of the corners of her eyes.

After the tea had been served, the time to exchange wedding vows arrived. The Heavenly Emperor himself presided upon the ceremony.

The atmosphere in the room immediately turned tense when the mighty emperor rose to his feet and stood in front of the wedding couple.

"On this auspicious day, we are here to witness the union of two noble houses -- the Zhang family from Longjing Palace and the Xie family from Fuxi Palace.

Prince Zhang Fengxi, proceed with your vow."

Zhang Fengxi took Xie Jianyu’s hands in his, enveloping them in his warmth.

His voice trembled slightly when he raised his voice to say his wedding vow.

"I, Zhang Fengxi from Longjing Palace, beg to take the Crown Prince, Xie Jianyu, as my wife.

I promise to protect him, love him, and cherish him for as long as I live."

"Crown Prince Xie Jianyu, you may proceed," the Heavenly Emperor said solemnly.

Xie Jianyu squeezed back at Zhang Fengxi’s hands.

"I, Xie Jianyu from Fuxi Palace, herewith accept Zhang Fengxi to be my lawfully wedded husband.

I shall respect, love, and cherish him for as long as I live."

After both parties read their wedding vows, they knelt side by side.

Head Eunuch Wang then announced the three bows one by one.

"First bow, to the ancestors!"

"Second bow, to the parents!"

"Third bow, to each other!"

Both the bride and groom rose to their feet afterward.

Head Eunuch Wang stepped forward with a tray. On the tray was a cup of wedding wine.

Zhang Fengxi and Xie Jianyu intertwined their arms. They then drank wedding wine from the same cup to symbolize their union.

After the wine had been drunk, the wedding ceremony was over.

The guests shouted their congratulatory remarks on top of each other. Fireworks were shot, and toasts were made for the happy couple.

The groom stayed behind to entertain the guests, while the bride was ushered into the bridal chamber to await the groom’s return.

Mingyu and Qingyun were given the honor to sweep Xie Jianyu away from the festivities.

The loud noises quieted down drastically as soon as Xie Jianyu left the banquet hall.

"Your Majesty, congratulations," Mingyu said in between sobs. "We are all so happy for you."

"En. Thank you."

"Your Majesty, the bridal chamber has been filled with all kinds of food and drinks. Please eat and drink something. You must be starving," Qingyun said.

"En."

He had not eaten anything since last night.

His maids had been pushing him to eat a little breakfast, but he was too nervous about the upcoming wedding ceremony.

Now, as he was ushered past the table full of heavenly delicacies, he found that he was still unable to eat.

He was too nervous awaiting Zhang Fengxi’s return.
