Chapter 211: Chapter 211 : Eternally Yours (1)

Xie Jianyu got busy as soon as Zhang Fengxi left. He cleaned himself, removed traces of their intimate entanglement, and opened all windows to drive away the thick, pungent smell from his bed chamber.

He had just finished tidying up his private belongings when the door slid open and Xie Jianshen entered with a cryptic smile on his face.

"Big Brother."

Xie Jianyu shoved the wooden chest a little deeper into its compartment at the bottom of the cupboard. Xie Jianshen’s eyes lingered on the chest briefly before he decidedly ignored it.

"Where is Zhang Fengxi?" Xie Jianyu asked.

Xie Jianshen shrugged. He took Xie Jianyu’s elbow and led him toward the dressing table.

"He left in a hurry. Since you two are to be married soon, he must have a lot to take care of."

Xie Jianshen grabbed a wooden comb and started working on Xie Jianyu’s long, shiny hair.

"Brother..."

Xie Jianshen cocked his head to the side and smiled at Xie Jianyu through the silver mirror.

"Mmm? What is it?"

"Did you reprimand him?"

Xie Jianshen raised his eyes and looked at Xie Jianyu’s worried facial expression.

"Of course not."

Having known Xie Jianshen his entire life, Xie Jianyu could tell that Xie Jianshen definitely did something. He just did not know what.

He did not want his brother to blame Zhang Fengxi. It might be wise to explain to Xie Jianshen about the Flower Demons and their aphrodisiacs-coated arrowhead, but then he would have to tell Xie Jianshen about the intimate affair.

It was too embarrassing to speak to his elder brother about it. In the end, all he could say was, "I hope that you will get along with my future husband."

A thin smile formed on Xie Jianshen’s lips.

"Of course I will," he said casually. "Especially because my dearest younger brother personally requests it."

Xie Jianyu beamed at Xie Jianshen.

"Thank you, Big Brother."

Xie Jianshen felt a prick of guilt in his heart when he saw Xie Jianyu’s bright smile. Xie Jianyu had always trusted him fully, with not the slightest doubt.

He was so pure.

So innocent.

Xie Jianshen draped his arms around Xie Jianyu’s shoulders affectionately.

"Listen well, Little Yu. Between us, there is no need to say thank you or sorry."

It was because he did not deserve Xie Jianyu’s thank you and he might never be able to say sorry to Xie Jianyu’s face.

"Un."

Xie Jianyu was confined to his Fuxi Palace for the next days to come due to his injuries and also his upcoming wedding.

It was bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding took place, so Zhang Fengxi stopped coming over.

At one point, Zhang Fengxi asked Xie Jianyu what kind of flower he liked, and the omega’s answer was "red orchids".

From then on, Longjing Palace made a point to send baskets of red orchids along with other various gifts every morning to Fuxi Palace as Zhang Fengxi’s token of love and adoration.

The many flowers were mainly put in Xie Jianyu’s bedroom. When Xie Jianyu almost tripped once due to the many baskets obstructing his path, he asked the maids to move the flowers to the backyard.

"I get the red color, but why must it be orchids? His Majesty hates orchids," Mingyu said with a frown as she heaved one basket after another out of Xie Jianyu’s room.

Qingyun was equally confused.

"I asked the messenger. Apparently, His Majesty’s favorite flower is red orchid."

Mingyu made a face at Qingyun’s remark.

"Prince Zhang Fengxi is an outstanding groom, but he really needs to get to know his bride better..."

Mingyu slapped a hand against her mouth when a slender hand reached out from behind him to pick a red orchid.

"Y-Your Majesty!!!"

Both maids quickly bowed before their master.

"You are wrong," he told Mingyu. "My favorite flower is indeed red orchid."

Xie Jianyu lifted the flower to his nose and inhaled its scent. He then wrinkled his face and returned the flower to the basket.

"It’s just the wrong orchid," he commented. "And the wrong kind of red."

"...."

Baffled, both maids watched as Xie Jianyu walked away.

"I can understand if he says that it is the wrong species of orchid, but red is red, right?" Qingyun asked in a low voice.

Mingyu shrugged.

"I don’t know. Let’s just remove the flowers for now. His Majesty can’t stand the smell."

"Mingyu, Qingyun, there is another carriage from Longjing Palace," the head servant announced.

Mingyu rolled with her eyes.

"Seriously? Are they planning to bury the palace in flowers???"

Xie Jianyu was equally busy with his wedding preparation. Xie Jianshen came every day to make changes to his wedding robe. The Shuiran Palace Mistress was especially nitpicky when it came to dressing his younger brother.

No hair accessories were beautiful enough to match Xie Jianyu’s bright eyes.

The white powder did not make his skin glow with bridal beauty.

The powdered rouge was either too red or not red enough.

And so on.

Even Xie Jianyu, who was always very patient and understanding, became exhausted after hours of standing and trying various robe and accessories combinations.

"I know that you are tired, but we don’t have a lot of time left," Xie Jianshen spoke while he held a silk thread between his teeth and stitched something new into Xie Jianyu’s wedding robe.

"The wedding is tomorrow. I want it to be the most perfect day of your life."

Xie Jianyu sighed inwardly.

He was more concerned about the marriage than the wedding itself.

The Crown Prince was more than glad when his head servant came to hand him a letter from Zhang Fengxi.

Inside was a message that the alpha himself wrote with eloquent brush strokes.

"My beloved Jianbao,

my heart aches with every minute we stand apart.

There is nothing I would love to do more than rush to your side and hold you in my arms.

I count the days patiently until we are finally wed and I have the honor to call you my wife.

Eternally yours,

Zhang Fengxi."

Xie Jianyu pressed the letter against his lips and hummed in delight. Smiling to himself, he carefully folded the letter and put it inside the little wooden chest, along with all the other items that Zhang Fengxi ever gave him.
