"What have you done?" The Crown Prince’s voice was brimming with exasperation. "Are you trying to kill yourself?"

Zhang Fengxi chuckled.

He recalled asking Xie Jianyu the same question when the latter was meditating underwater.

Interesting, how the scene repeated with reversed roles.

Xie Jianyu’s fair cheeks flushed pink when his eyes accidentally landed on Zhang Fengxi’s open chest. The color slowly wandered to his ears, causing them to glow bright red. The enticing sight unwittingly made Zhang Fengxi’s heart skip a beat.

Xie Jianyu quickly averted his gaze.

"You... Cover yourself," he murmured in embarrassment.

Zhang Fengxi could not help but grin when he saw Xie Jianyu’s adorable reaction.

Xie Jianyu turned to glare at him.

"Shameless," he said to Zhang Fengxi’s face. Gallant like a true prince, he then took off his long cloak and draped it around Zhang Fengxi’s shoulder.

Only that Zhang Fengxi was no maiden in distress.

The cloak was tailored to Xie Jianyu’s size, so it was naturally too small to cover Zhang Fengxi’s naked upper half. It only managed to hide Zhang Fengxi’s back from sight.

His impeccable, perfectly sculpted torso was still glaring at Xie Jianyu, burning the latter’s cheeks further in the process.

Xie Jianyu wordlessly pulled Zhang Fengxi to his feet. The alpha was heavier than he remembered. He just wasn’t sure whether it was the water that drenched his body or the muscle mass that he gained after two months of training.

On the other hand, Zhang Fengxi was a drunken mess the last time Xie Jianyu saw him, so the transformation was probably just his imagination.

"Can I carry you to dry land first? There are many slippery spots around here."

Zhang Fengxi slowly walked across the pool of water while carrying Xie Jianyu in his arms.

"You should rest here," Xie Jianyu said. "I will go get us some water and fish."

The Crown Prince grabbed two empty buckets and walked away, leaving Zhang Fengxi behind.

By the time he came back with two buckets full of water and five fresh trouts for them to feast on, Zhang Fengxi already set up a campfire.

Next to the crackling flame lay the carcass of an unknown animal, skinned and cleaned meticulously.

The meat had been cut into cubes with a small blade. The alpha was in the middle of making skewers out of them.

"Xie Jianyu, welcome back. Please pour the water into the well," Zhang Fengxi said with a grin. "There is a leather bag next to the well. Can you bring me the clay pot inside?"

"Did you go into the forest?" Xie Jianyu asked while pouring water into the small well.

"No, of course not," Zhang Fengxi lied smoothly. "This mountain deer ran out of the forest and started to attack me. I was just defending myself."

Xie Jianyu’s eyes shifted to the pile of forest mushrooms that Zhang Fengxi stacked on top of a huge leaf.

He assumed that the mountain deer pelted Zhang Fengxi with said mushrooms as well.

What a liar.

Xie Jianyu rummaged inside the leather bag next to the well and found the clay pot that Zhang Fengxi wanted. Inside was a dark-colored paste, with cut-up leaves and tiny seeds mixed within.

"What’s that? Spices?"

"Yes, our Longjing Palace’s special mix, my late grandmother’s recipe. You will like it. To my knowledge, our kitchen staff had to grind it out of 52 different ingredients."

Speaking about Longjing Palace, Xie Jianyu was reminded of the reason he even came to the Heaven and Hell Peak.

"Zhang Fengxi, your mother is worried about you," he said. "It is fine if you leave home to train, but should you not send some letters back home to ease her mind?"
