Chapter 178: Chapter 178 : Heaven And Hell Peak (3)

After the Three Realm Spear was freed from its prison, the Heaven and Hell Peak lost its charm for all the spearmen who once dreamed about possessing the weapon. Additionally, its rocky and dangerous terrain did not allow for safe martial arts training, especially for beginners.

And yet, this was the training spot that Commandant Jiang selected to polish Zhang Fengxi’s skills. He wanted to make sure that the unfortunate mishap during the fight against the First Demon King did not repeat. Otherwise, the teacher was fearful for the disciple’s life.

The Crown Prince could not come running to save Zhang Fengxi every single time.

Commandant Jiang made Zhang Fengxi repeat all the training steps from the very beginning and punished him heavily for every mistake. Other than practicing spearsmanship from early morning until late at night, Zhang Fengxi still had to take care of their daily necessities.

The job included hauling fresh, clean water for drinking, cooking, and bathing purposes; hunting wild animals; skinning, gutting, and cooking them; and also gathering fruits, nuts, and mushrooms to enrich their meal.

Commandant Jiang thought that Zhang Fengxi would start complaining from day one, but surprisingly, the younger alpha exhibited an admirable level of resilience. Not only did he not complain about the chores, but he also practiced religiously. Truly, a tiger’s skin was not afraid of a thousand knives*.

Closely before the sunset, the entire peak was bathed in mesmerizing red and golden sunlight. This particular spot used to be a rocky mountain with wild vegetation sprouting from its side, but the past two months had transformed its appearance significantly.

Half of the mountain had been decimated into small rocks, and there was now a man-made pool of water with around twenty raging stone pillars that hung at least thirty meters above the water’s surface.

Standing on top of one of those pillars was an impressively tall figure with broad shoulders. With no single layer of fabric covering his upper half, his evenly toned arms, chest, and stomach were practically a welcome feast for eager eyes.

As the man breathed in and out slowly, his tightly packed pectoral muscles contracted and expanded accordingly. His lips were slightly open, his eyes tightly shut.

Tiny glistening beads of sweat were inlaid in his honey-colored skin, making him look like a diamond-studded bronze statue. While the man himself appeared peaceful and unbothered, the tall and unyielding spear in his right hand exuded an air of danger.

A gust of harsh wind blew from behind and tangled with his long and black hair, but Zhang Fengxi did not move from his position.

Some distance away from him, a shadow was moving swiftly on the ground without emitting a single sound. Without a single warning, tens of massive stone boulders were catapulted from the ground and shot toward Zhang Fengxi at the same time.

The Three Realm Spear pulsed like crazy in Zhang Fengxi’s hand. The alpha opened his eyes a split second before the boulders came within his attack range.

Zhang Fengxi swung the Three Realm Spear and stepped off the stone pillar to launch a counterattack. The boulders made loud snapping and crackling sounds as Zhang Fengxi hit each of them accurately in the center, bursting them into chunks of stones.

Once all boulders had been hit, Zhang Fengxi stabbed his spear into the sky and summoned Crimson Judgment Spear Art’s ultimate skill.

"Hellfire Hurricane!!!"

The ensuing heat distorted the air around Zhang Fengxi. A spark of flame that appeared at the tip of the Three Realm Spear quickly turned into a raging fire. The red flame moved in a circular motion around Zhang Fengxi, before it developed into a full-fledged hurricane.

The gigantic wave of flame formed a vortex and slowly rose toward the sky, taking the stone debris, dust, and ash with it.

In the middle of the Hurricane, Zhang Fengxi gritted his teeth. The pressure from maintaining the hurricane was enough to crush all the bones in his body, but there was also the heat that flowed out of his body continuously. The beads of sweat evaporated a long time ago, leaving Zhang Fengxi to deal with the heat on his own.

"Aaaaaaarghhhhhh!!!"

Zhang Fengxi let out a sharp cry. The Hellfire Hurricane unraveled itself and dissolved into the air. Zhang Fengxi jumped into the pool of water to cool himself.

A while later, Commandant Jiang rushed toward him.

"Splendid, Prince Fengxi!" he praised wholeheartedly. "You are now able to extinguish the Hellfire Hurricane on your own. The only thing you need to work on now is your endurance."

Zhang Fengxi shot his teacher a grateful smile.

Yeah. At least now he no longer ran the risk of encountering qi deviation whenever he summoned the skill. The problem was only...

Zhang Fengxi’s eyes fluttered close before he toppled to the side and fell face-first into the water.

"Prince Fengxi!"

Commandant Jiang rushed to pull his disciple out of the water and leaned him against a stone pillar.

"I am alright, Teacher," Zhang Fengxi said. "I just... I need to rest a little."

"No worries. Dinner time is in two hours, there is plenty of time to hunt and cook."

"..."

If Zhang Fengxi was not so tired, he might want to thank his teacher for being so understanding.

After Commandant Jiang left, Zhang Fengxi fell asleep under the warm sunlight that shone on top of him.

He was faintly aware of the sound of rustling robe above his head, followed by the sound of something, -- or someone -- that plunged into the water.

Not long afterward, a pair of cold hands shook his shoulders and tapped his left cheek repeatedly.

"Zhang Fengxi? Zhang Fengxi, can you hear me?"

Zhang Fengxi opened his eyes and stared directly into Xie Jianyu’s concerned face. Indescribable warmth filled Zhang Fengxi’s heart. He shot the omega he had not seen for the past two months a silly smile.

"Hey, Xie Jianyu. Long time no see."
