Chapter 872: Chapter 709 Gold Wind_2

"..." Ottovan remained silent.

He was about to take Ottovan out of the car when he turned his head and saw an inexplicable expression on Ottovan’s face.

"What’s the matter? Can you feel Keith’s father’s authority from such a distance? Your progress isn’t small." Angel mocked.

"I hear the voices of my people," Ottovan spoke in a voice almost like a revelation, "I hear them, my voice has become the voice of tens of thousands, my words have become the shared ideals of tens of thousands. The pain we once shared disappeared in that moment, because I know our future will be very bright. Do you understand? Angel?"

"I’m going to tell Keith about this." Angel regarded Ottovan’s words as amusing gossip.

Before Ottovan could voice his objection, Angel was already laughing as he left the car and walked through the courtyard wall into the densely shaded courtyard.

Ottovan trembled as he got out of the car, his semi-transparent form looked as if wrapped in a bubble, and several guards escorted him across the wall.

The imposing Warlord Keith was watching the fish beside his pond, dressed in a black robe. As he turned around, a clinking sound quickly rose. Around his neck were various symbols of pacts: Martyr’s Cross, Withered Tentacles, Love Pendant, Blood Ring, Everfrost Crystal, Death Seal, Spear-shaped Insignia, Cloud Mist Bottle, and others.

Following the principle of ’the more deities, the less worry’, Warlord Keith had traded his soul to several Ancient Mystics in order to preserve his ruling position. After his death, his soul would be quickly divided amongst all the deities, but in life, he would receive numerous protections.

At this moment, it was the same: he stood atop six guardian circles of light from different powers, a three-colored glow above his head, seven hues shining behind him, and his face was obscured by a protective aura, making it impossible to see his true features. He was truly chosen by all the gods.

Facing such a powerful Warlord Keith, Ottovan felt his nerves stretched taut.

"I heard from Angel that you heard the echoes of the people in the square? Their voices resonating?" Keith spoke with a voice that rumbled like thunder.

"No, most esteemed Warlord Keith, it was just an illusion of mine," Ottovan immediately flattered, "I must have been overheated."

"I have no patience for your cowardice," Keith said slowly and deliberately.

"Am I not your servant? A servant should be cowardly," Ottovan started to obsequiously flatter in the most servile tone, as a slave should speak to his master.

The Angels by Keith’s side all laughed.

"This Ottovan is really very smart, very, very smart," the Angel said happily, "You must want to hide your power until you really achieve something, then you will rise and overthrow Father Keith."

Angel addressed Keith as Father because among the Mystics Keith had devoted himself to was also Goddess Dilnai, swearing to spread her gospel on earth.

"Vanity is a poison," Keith said calmly, "Ottovan, you cannot please me with such tactics."

"Lord Keith, you are my god, the god I admire on earth! How dare I defy you? I heard their voices, but it was just an illusion. I know, I know that only you are the protector of these people, the savior of Zanges, if this city is without you, the dreams of Golden Township would drive everyone mad! It would tear this city apart!" Ottovan knelt, speaking with an obsessed tone as he looked up at Warlord Keith as if looking at his savior.

"His tone of speech is just like how he bewitched those black people on the square, like how he incessantly talks about the past and history to shift the subject," Angel said with a laugh standing by, "I think you should give him a slap, Father Keith."

Keith scrutinized Ottovan carefully, his hazy, mist-like face showing no readable expression, while Ottovan’s fear was fully evident.

"This is a greasy and sweaty black fatso, I won’t lay a hand on him," Keith said.

"But I would like to bestow a lash upon this living creature," the Angel said with a fervent tone.

"Please do grant me this honor," Ottovan knelt on the ground, looking up at the Angel.

The Angel conjured a whip with psychic power, striking across Ottovan’s cheek and leaving a trail of blood. He continued to bow his head until he felt their gazes no longer rested upon him.

"It will take another 5 days to gather the diamond miners, and approximately 2 million to repair the damage to the mines," Keith turned to speak with the Angel, "We must eliminate Renwang Security Company to offset our losses."

"The Gods are quite willing to help us, as long as we build them a grand church, a true grand church," said the Angel.

"Archangel, you select the location, and we will make arrangements," Keith said humbly.

Ottovan stood up and left with an air of meekness.

He crawled back to his dormitory, tomorrow’s speech already placed on his desk.

In the neighboring rooms lived other sharp-minded black men; politicians, high-ranking military officers, actors, legal experts, entrepreneurs, and engineers. They were neither warm nor cold to Ottovan, quietly honing their own oratory skills, awaiting Ottovan’s fall from favor so they could take his place.

Ottovan lay in his hard bed, feeling the sting of the lash on his face.

Again, he heard the echoes of tens of thousands in the square resonating in his chest. He listened to the drum beats in silence, sinking into sleep.

He dreamt the dreams of Golden Township, more often than others, but this time he sank deeper than ever before. He even felt himself sinking below Zanges, to the place that connects to The Scar of the World, falling into the center of a huge, shimmering soul—a depth previously unreached by anyone. He saw himself far removed from Zanges, yet close to Golden Township.

"The soul of gold..." Ottovan sank deep within the Golden Soul, feeling as if he had been stripped of all post-natal clothing, bereft of skin! Leaving only his pure soul resonating with that of the Golden Soul, at this moment, he had completely lost all acquired teachings, training, and experience, only his flawless self remained.

"They pushed you in here," the voice of the Golden Soul sounded like the will from deep beneath the earth.

"Who pushed me in?" Ottovan thought hazily.

"You know who, one person one voice, one person one hand, millions of people millions of voices, millions of hands. Here, elsewhere."

Amid the dense whispers like chants, Ottovan felt his very being was being reshaped.

When he awoke, he discovered his entire room had turned to gold. His room, from the bed, chairs to the terminal, including the documents on his desk, had all turned into pure gold, and he stood in a room of gold.

At first, he rubbed his eyes in fear, seeing streams of golden light coursing over his black skin. He heard the hasty flapping of wings approaching from outside, and the Angel used psychic power to open the door.

"Ottovan?" The Angel looked at Ottovan with annoyance but was then startled by the golden gleam filling the room, "Oh... Almighty God, what on earth has happened?"

Instinctively, Ottovan waved at the Angel, a golden breeze flying from his fingertips. The Angel glanced at Ottovan, his halo quickly turning to pure gold, falling off his head, striking his forehead, then hitting the ground. He bent down to pick up his golden halo, and before his fingers even touched it, his body also turned into pure gold, shimmering with a sheen prettier than before, the golden statue so lifelike it seemed alive.

He looked outside the window and waved towards Keith’s beautiful garden; following Ottovan’s gesture, a layer of golden wind tainted Keith’s precious pond, turning half of the pond’s surface into pure gold, with the fish below disappearing without a trace. His head spinning, he rushed out of the accommodation block in a hurry, leaving a trail of pure gold footprints on the floor.

Courage, fury, and Power surged in his heart, wanting to find Keith for a fight to the death. All sounds burst forth at once, like an earthquake.
