Chapter 330: Chapter 300 No Longer Naive

```
Xu Yang knew that he hadn’t unearthed a millennium-old monster, but a young witch, so he couldn’t just watch Farosa stubbornly insist on her own way.
People fail for two reasons, either because they are too cowardly to give up their principles, or because they are too proud to recognize themselves.
Farosa would never give up on principles, for she had none to begin with. The very baseline of humanity didn’t exist for her. Thus, Xu Yang needed to remind her constantly, making her understand that she was not omnipotent.
Little Witch, Young Witch, and Infant Witch, Farosa had too much interaction with them and gradually began to realize her own shortcomings. They acted like mirrors, each mistake prompting Farosa to reflect on her own flaws, which made her nature increasingly profound and reticent.
No longer naive...
Farosa stood by the window of the Purple Wind with her hands crossed in front of her chest.
The intelligent panel tracked her eye movement, marking the scenery for her. Wherever she looked, she received data on relevant locations, the environment, and user reviews. When her gaze settled on a swath of burnt streets, the panel began to introduce the shopping destinations and fashion counters inside the buildings, marking out daily specials from the ashes, as though rubble, too, could be merchandised, vying for her attention.
The ruins were too distressful to look upon, split apart by roads. Grand buildings and dwellings had turned to ash and wreckage, as if smashed several times by an oversized hammer, and soon there was little left. The city had changed to this state in no more than 72 hours since the invasion, and with a protracted modern war, any skyscraper would be reduced to fine powder.
"I like space motherships," said Farosa, "We must build one of our own, or seize one, to carry witches into battle."
"A space ship requires ten thousand people for maintenance," replied Xu Yang, "Modern warfare is a full-spectrum system: military technology, logistical personnel, in all respects."
"A lot of people?"
"Not just a lot of people, but also a lot of ships. A mothership cannot engage alone; it needs repair ships, supply ships, docks, as well as a team of senior engineers, a vast number of pilots, and accompanying doctors, chefs, and counselors..."
"You recruit these people who do odd jobs."
"Then you’ll have to wait a long time," Xu Yang said with a smile, "Right now, we must stay away from corporate warfare, not get back into it. The Martinez has already destroyed the city’s defense system, and once Black Fire Innovation uses nuclear weapons, the entire Archipelago Continent would be blown up. So, if we were to rekindle the war, we’d have to wait until a large-scale anti-missile system is restored at least."
Farosa couldn’t help but think of that apocalyptic scene, where exhausting all magic and divine power was required to cast the Great Recovery Law, covering the entire Northern Archipelago—an overly troublesome endeavor.
"Why did the people from Black Fire Innovation stop attacking?" Farosa hadn’t seen enemies from Black Fire Innovation anymore.
The news reported that Black Fire Innovation didn’t insist on continuing the attack on the Northern Archipelago; Martinez had managed to retreat successfully, albeit also severely damaged, needing over a year to repair.
"The modern environment isn’t suited to effectively control territories," Xu Yang explained, "Maintaining an occupation drains too much energy, so swift battles are a necessity."
"They’re lucky," Farosa frowned, "I almost had them at Nangong Island."
"Everyone has their luck," Xu Yang said helplessly, "They’ve achieved their strategic goal. Everything is within Black Fire Innovation’s command expectations: The Northern Archipelago has no depth. A few attacks on the core urban areas, and the opponent is quickly annihilated."
"Someday, we will have to eradicate them too," Farosa stated.
"Black Fire Innovation has always been our greatest enemy," Xu Yang nodded in agreement, "We have too many scores to settle with them. And they’ve reached a stalemate too; they might punch through the Northern Archipelago in one breath, but they can’t defeat Xia."
"Kyushu High Pavilion produced you, produced Pan Ruiyi," Farosa muttered, "Truly a place where talents emerge one after another, should be enough to deal with Black Fire Innovation."
The corporate wars continued. Kyoto Infinity, Kyushu High Pavilion, and Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing united to sanction Black Fire Innovation. Even though Kyoto Infinity was fatally stabbed, the two giant corporations from Xia District had no intention of withdrawing from the war. To do so at this critical juncture would be to hand over the hegemony of the Eastern Hemisphere on a silver platter.
Farosa’s focus was shifting continuously. She caressed the incubator, looking at the little baby who had survived the great disaster.
"She’s a princess, a servant, the chosen by destiny," Farosa declared, "She’s the result of a complex web of fates, as if some power from the unseen realms has brought her to me."
"That’s quite fortunate."
"But you refuse to become her foster father. Why should she encounter someone like you who is unwilling to take responsibility?"
"I did my best." Xu Yang had his own issues; he couldn’t overcome the psychological threshold of adopting a child, not ready to start a family.
"Then I will raise her by myself," Farosa announced, "She’s not like other scattered little infants; she could punch through alloy armor on her very first day of life. She’s bound to have the power to destroy the world with heat rays when she grows up, which suits me just fine as my daughter. I’ll name her Laila Medusa, Medusa being my mother’s name, and she will take her grandmother’s name as her surname."
"Laila Medusa." Xu Yang took a marker and wrote her name on the container next to the little infant. "Can you breastfeed?"
"You try."
Xu Yang carefully tried for a while but found it utterly impossible. He wasn’t surprised at all; after all, witches aren’t mammals, but the process was quite interesting.
Farosa changed her clothes.
"This world is really disgusting and chaotic, dark and depressing." said Farosa, "Danger lurks everywhere, and it’s impossible to get a good night’s sleep."
"That just shows we have much work to do," Xu Yang agreed, "With your resolute heart, you will surely reach the end of the path of power and wisdom, surpassing all existing companies and Mystics... That’s why I brought these children to you."
"Is all this for me?" Farosa looked toward the incubator, her thoughts returning to the young witches in Shijin Mansion.
"Farosa, if the world always presents its filthy, decadent face to you, I believe it’s only normal that one day you might destroy it. After all, this society isn’t very endearing, filled with sordid affairs everywhere. But what if the world gave you something to care for? If these young, pure witches made you cherish the world just a little, that would be good."
"What are you talking about, I already have something I care for." Farosa stroked Xu Yang’s cheek.
Xu Yang shook his head gently.
"I might leave you behind." he said, "I am human."
Purple Wind returned to Shijin Mansion.
Xu Yang and Farosa carried the five incubators back to the large breeding room on the fourth floor, the core area of Shijin Mansion, protected by the highest security protocols. Rows of incubators already occupied the space, each holding a witch infant, the youngest babies in the Witch Home. Just entering there felt nerve-wracking, fearing any disturbance might affect their health.
The health monitoring system for the containers was connected to the main control terminal, allowing them to keep track of each witch infant’s condition at all times.
Most infants were detected to have magic circuits, but their type of magic power was unknown. Thankfully, the monitoring system was in place, so if an infant suddenly punched through her container in the middle of the night, they would know immediately.
After placing the last five containers, Xu Yang went up to his room on the rooftop to rest.
Like a phantom, Farosa wandered through the dark corridors of Shijin Mansion.
and 102 used to play games late into the night but were now enlisted by Farosa to take care of the young witches, exhausting themselves daily and retiring to bed early.
Arranged by age, the 3-4 year old young witches slept in a dormitory-like hall, beds next to each other, simple yet warm and safe. The concern was that a young witch might wake in the night, perhaps needing the bathroom, scared of the dark, or just feeling upset and start crying.
Once one started, that would be it; the others would follow suit, creating a domino effect of crying that left Farosa resetting the state of all the young witches back to sleep.
I will find something to care for in these little beings.
Farosa passed several young witches. She would have scoffed at the idea before, but listening quietly to their breathing, so fragile in their uniform white pajamas, even the coldest heart could be conquered by the adorable faces of the witch infants.
It wasn’t just emotional; it was undoubtedly beneficial on a practical level too. They would be obedient to Farosa’s will, these descendants foundational to her future success. Each witch infant nurtured personally to become supporters of the New Witch Council.
