Chapter 1042: Chapter 817: Reviewing Combat Footage
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Lu Jing nonchalantly joined the Dragon Assembly.
Everyone had arrived, and the Weak Water churned endlessly as the waves lifted a Divine Dragon with platinum scales.
Its form was slender, with dragon horns extending back from both sides of its head, and it bore five claws.
"Thank you all for traveling from afar! I am Princess Yao Tang, the younger sister of Pan Yuan," Princess Yao Tang announced, perching atop the wave’s high platform, her voice clear and resounding as she welcomed everyone.
"Princess Yao Tang..." Xu Yang observed attentively.
"So this is Pan Yuan’s sister? She doesn’t seem well, her wounds are heavy. Is she truly a god on the verge of death? But there’s clearly some power protecting her," Farosa scrutinized closely.
"It’s been a long time," Mond also retracted his claws and courteously greeted Princess Yao Tang.
"So this is what a real dragon looks like," 102 raised a finger.
"Don’t point at others with your finger," 101 admonished.
"Is this the dragon that invited us here? Why us, of all people... especially me," the Storm Princess remained puzzled.
"Greetings, Princess Yao Tang," Lu Jing nodded toward her.
She noticed Princess Yao Tang’s gaze frequently falling on her.
Behind Princess Yao Tang, dazzling rays of light shimmered, and in the glow, she appeared especially elated.
So this is what a true dragon looks like—so beautiful. Xu Yang studied the mythical being attentively: smooth scales, an agile form.
"Next, I shall recount a story with all of you as its protagonists," Princess Yao Tang said with a smile.
"With us as the protagonists?" Farosa frowned, clearly unsure of what intrigue Princess Yao Tang had in store.
The dragon raised a golden Dragon Ball with the tip of its tail, where infinite lights shimmered within. Then, Princess Yao Tang let out a few clear cries and began to sing with a melodious, rhythmic tone, as if narrating a tale:
"I am named Princess Yao Tang, dwelling in the Weak Water. Though I have never seen the world of men, I know of its countless changes—seas turning into mulberry fields, truth entwined with illusions. The kingdom shifts endlessly, while the cycles of spring and autumn remain unchanged. Have you not seen how noble families, clad in silk, are reduced to poverty in their next lives, bound in humble dwellings? The beauty of this life brings joy, but the storms of past lives still stir the heart. I ask you all to pause for a while and listen as I recount a sealed history—a history of boundless valiance and unmatched secrets of the land," Princess Yao Tang sang slowly.
The Dragon Assembly commenced.
"...Let us speak of that day when Farosa, a Western woman, suddenly descended upon Kunxu, wielding the Divine Sword. She leaped fearlessly into the Dragon Gate Mansion, all the way to the depths of the Weak Water, seeking a single drop of fresh blood from Princess Yao Tang’s heart. A poem bears witness: ’Kunxu shattered and the Milky Way torn, treading danger forsaking rest. Beauty bright as dawn, blade pale as the moon, with no forewarning nor promise expressed.’"
Farosa furrowed her brow deeply upon hearing Princess Yao Tang’s words.
"I have never entered any ’Dragon Gate Mansion’ or ’depths of the Weak Water,’ and I definitely wouldn’t rob you. Keep slandering me, and I’ll leave," Farosa insisted.
Princess Yao Tang’s tail lightly tapped on the golden Dragon Ball, revealing a hazy image. Although unclear, everyone present could discern Farosa on a marble-paved shore, holding the Godslayer Weapon, facing Princess Yao Tang in the water.
"W-when was this recorded?!" Farosa exclaimed in shock.
Xu Yang was equally astonished, recalling Mond’s earlier comments. Could this all have been an alternate history? Farosa truly confronted Princess Yao Tang in the depths of the Weak Water! Was her courage that immense, or was the temptation of the fully unsealed Godslayer Weapon simply too great?
"Please, remain calm. Allow this humble one to recount the ’transient seas and boundless illusions’ from start to finish, word by word," Princess Yao Tang smiled as she continued, "Let us return to those times: the Milky Way reversed, the sun and moon stood still, and the Dragon Gate Mansion crumbled into dust. It was my elder brother, Pan Yuan, unwilling to let Farosa’s audacity go unchecked, who appeared to confront her. A brazen Western Witch against an ageless Divine Dragon—battered by the eons—they fought fiercely, sending the Dragon Gate Minor World into a cosmic tumult, time twisting and stars shifting."
Farosa, hearing this account, nodded smugly.
"So it seems that in that timeline, I fought Pan Yuan to a draw. Doesn’t that mean... I am unimaginably strong?" she said haughtily.
"The Witch Goddess is the strongest!" 102 bowed to Farosa.
"Naturally, the Witch Goddess is the most formidable," the Storm Princess chimed in with admiration.
Mond, especially, felt a profound revelation in Princess Yao Tang’s narration. He now realized that Farosa’s power rivaled Pan Yuan, an ancient demigod—a formidable feat for such a young lesser deity.
Princess Yao Tang continued to sing atop the Flowing Water Stage:
"Kunxu trembled; mountains collapsed and the land fractured. I escaped from the depths of the Weak Water, leaving the world of the Dragon Gate to its upheaval and chaos. For this, I owe gratitude to two righteous individuals: that benevolent youth and the wise Star Weaving Lady," she sang, casting a gaze toward Xu Yang.
Xu Yang immediately saw the Dragon Ball project a new scene. It was Princess Yao Tang wrapping herself around the Divine Radiance while the Star Weaving Lady piloted the shuttle machine desperately, rescuing her from Dragon Gate Mansion and the chaos of Farosa and Pan Yuan’s battle.
Yes, if Farosa was there, he must have been there too. Surely, he would help Princess Yao Tang escape. Xu Yang nodded slightly. Though the story omitted much of the cause and effect, he increasingly felt that all of this followed a logical thread. Could it truly have been a history that never came to pass?
"The credit is all mine!" the Star Weaving Lady, seated on the Divine Radiance, interjected while watching Princess Yao Tang tell the tale.
"...As the ancients said: ’When the snipe and clam struggle, the fisherman benefits.’ While Pan Yuan and Farosa clashed, the sky cracked open, and foreign invaders stormed in arrogantly. On one side were colossal warships flying banners of the Seven Seals; on the other, the resplendent Heavenly Mansion Divine Army. A poem recounts: ’From the West, eight hundred wings unfurled, armor clad and weapons raised without end. The celestial maiden of moral judgment unleashes chaos across the boundless Kunxu.’" Princess Yao Tang’s tone grew solemn.
The mention of the Seven Seals and Goddess Dilnai sent a chill down Farosa’s spine.
"The Seven Seals... and Dilnai have arrived," she muttered involuntarily.
"How can we possibly oppose Dilnai with the strength we have now?" Xu Yang couldn’t fathom it either.
On such a battlefield in Kunxu, should Dilnai descend directly, it would be catastrophic. Xu Yang thought grimly. Few among them could stand as equals to the Goddess of Good and Evil, Dilnai. She wielded dominion over morality and sin, ranking among the Ancient Mystics’ most formidable forces.
"The young man raised a hand, summoning Moonfire Mond for aid. With Mond’s thunderous roar, hundreds of dragons appeared, standing against the celestial soldiers in a balanced and fierce standoff," Princess Yao Tang sang.
The golden Dragon Ball radiated scenes of breathtaking majesty and grandeur.
Facing the endless angels in the sky, led by Dilnai wielding a cross spear, the Elder Dragon Mond showed no fear. A rift in space opened, summoning countless draconic descendants. The entire Moon Dragon Race joined the fray!
Witnessing such an awe-inspiring scene, the attendees could not help but turn their gaze toward Mond.
"As expected, only Father could stand against Dilnai," Princess Pelagia said proudly.
"So it was the Dragon Clan that resisted the angels’ attack. That explains why this story didn’t end abruptly. If only Dilnai were present, everyone else would’ve been annihilated," Xu Yang remarked, nodding.
"So many dragons... I’ve underestimated you," Farosa admitted with a hint of approval.
Amid such a dire crisis, the Elder Mond had stepped forward to hold Dilnai at bay! It allowed Farosa to breathe a little easier.
Though appearing as an eccentric who hoarded rhinoceroses and fighter jets in his palace, Mond proved his reliability in moments of dire need!
Mond looked around, savoring the admiration and encouragement from the others, and nodded imperceptibly.
Indeed!
The ancient monarch of the Moon Dragon Race, the mighty White Dragon leader, the final regent of the draconic bloodline, and guardian of the "Moon" realm—such was his strength.
"This is all as it should be. Whenever I show myself, no matter how arrogant Dilnai might be, she must retreat, taking her thousand-strong angelic host with her," Mond declared proudly, stroking his dragon whiskers with an air of majesty.
Princess Yao Tang smiled faintly before her expression turned grave.
"...But alas, the splendor of mortals is fleeting, swiftly followed by lamentation. One moment, we prepared celebratory wine, and the next, we faced sorrow at the banquet. Little did we know, that radiant goddess was formidable beyond measure. The celestial maiden clashed fiercely with Dragon King Mond—Kunxu Mountains crumbled, and the forests were obliterated. In barely thirteen minutes and fourteen seconds, the maiden’s twin wings veiled the skies, radiating golden brilliance, and she returned to the battlefield, carrying the severed head of the Elder Dragon!" Princess Yao Tang half-sang, half-recited.
Though her tone was heavy and the scene tragic, it was, after all, an unrealized history. The emotional impact was not as profound, and upon hearing that Mond was obliterated by Dilnai so swiftly, everyone burst into laughter, and the atmosphere grew jovial both inside and outside the venue.
"Thirteen minutes and fourteen seconds..." Farosa covered her mouth, nearly laughing out loud.
"..." Xu Yang maintained a prudent silence.
"Hahaha—" 102 laughed until he fell to the ground.
"Is that even possible?" The Storm Princess widened her eyes.
"It has indeed been a long time since Father trained for battle," Princess Pelagia couldn’t help but tease her father.
"..." Mond retreated slightly, his tone stern. "Princess Yao Tang! Are you mocking me?"
"I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare. Please allow me to finish the tale," Princess Yao Tang coiled around the Flowing Water Stage, her tail’s tip nudging the golden Dragon Ball as she narrated the final segment of the story. "After Mond’s devastating defeat, the Dragon Clan was annihilated, and a fissure opened in Kunxu. This allowed Farosa to emerge while my elder brother, Pan Yuan, whose immense form was obstructed by an Old God, could not. The celestial maiden, judging good and evil, took advantage of Farosa’s duel with an Empress to lash out from behind. A single whip sent Farosa plummeting from the heavens. Several more lashes nearly reduced her to dust. Afterward, I, your humble storyteller, found my consciousness dissipating, the fates tangled intricately within the Dragon Ball, and I saw no more. I only vaguely recall the final outcome—everything fell into ruin, a desolate ending where all dissolved like melting ice. I recount this tale solely at today’s Dragon Assembly. Did any of you sense something stirring in your souls?"
The golden Dragon Ball shone brightly, and the attendees swiftly connected their déjà vu of Kunxu with the projections from the Dragon Ball. Each individual seemed to regain some strange memories and knowledge, as though these were events they had truly experienced in another timeline, though not in this one.
"We can no longer be complacent... Dilnai..." Mond quickly grew serious. Ever since migrating with the Moon Dragon Race to the moon, he had refrained from direct combat for a long time, choosing instead to strategize from the sidelines. Even forming alliances with Farosa and the Forest Master was primarily to avoid direct confrontations with enemies. Yet, the consequence of this was evident: his combat ability had dulled, leading to great humiliation.
"I must rip apart a few of these winged creatures," Princess Pelagia seethed with fury.
"Waaah..." 102 turned and clung to 101.
"...I killed Xylophia?" 101 muttered under his breath.
"My head aches," the Storm Princess said, clutching her temples.
"...You truly... will never leave me, even in death," Farosa gripped Xu Yang’s hand tightly.
"...But could that truly have been our original ending? Who changed everything?" Xu Yang couldn’t recall.
No matter how hard he tried, Xu Yang couldn’t remember. Hidden within this ancient story and fragmented memories was an existence of critical importance, yet... the identity of that presence remained a mystery.
The golden light excluded only Lu Sizhou, as if Princess Yao Tang had intentionally kept him out of the memory restoration process.
"Why does everyone else seem to know everything now, Miss Lu? It’s so unfair! Why did they bring me here if they weren’t going to give me my memories? Are they insulting me?" Lu Sizhou protested, clearly disgruntled.
"It’s alright," Lu Jing said, gazing at the golden Dragon Ball, "because I too... remember nothing."
