Chapter 1041: Chapter 816: Second Loop of the Dragon Conference_2
"Miss Lu, perhaps your culture often depicts Pan Yuan as a benevolent and kind deity, but based on the information we have, it is not only capricious but also astonishingly formidable. I fear that getting out of Kunxu this time won’t be so easy." Rubazio warned.
Lu Jing pressed one hand against her temple and made a slashing gesture with the other.
Lu Sizhou understood instantly.
"Haha, matters of Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing are not yours to discuss arbitrarily. I look forward to collaborating with you again next time, but for now, scram~" Lu Sizhou ended the communication.
"...The news about Kunxu Strange Tales Zone is still sealed, right?" Lu Jing looked at Lu Sizhou.
"Rest assured, all involved employees are under a 100-year confidentiality period." Lu Sizhou nodded.
Lu Jing stared at Lu Sizhou.
"If it were up to you, would you expose Kunxu’s location to the Seven Seals?" Lu Jing asked a question that even she herself didn’t know where it came from.
"Not in a million years! Kunxu is our Xia’s great hidden realm; how could we let outsiders know about it? If we did, they’d send all kinds of chaotic parties here, turning Kunxu upside down." Lu Sizhou chuckled.
The Heavenly Cardinal Aerial Mother Ship stationed outside was on standby. Lu Sizhou piloted a small shuttle machine, taking Lu Jing through a barrier surrounded by shimmering rainbows, formally entering Kunxu.
Kunxu.
Endless towering snow-capped mountains encircle the vast expanse of frost-white Weak Water at the center. The river is entirely white, crystal-clear.
On both banks are dense grasslands, where some bizarrely-shaped rare creatures roam freely, leisurely and adorable, naturally amicable—many animals recorded in the ancient texts of Xia. Some anomalous beasts lurk in the forests at the mountain’s base, now raising their heads to watch the small shuttle machine entering Kunxu.
The "Dragon Assembly" was about to begin.
Invited by Princess Yao Tang, distinguished guests would gather here to collectively hear a segment of forgotten history — one said to be deeply intertwined with them.
...
Xu Yang sat by the Weak Water.
"I’m so foolish, truly." Farosa sat on Xu Yang’s lap, "If I had known that this so-called Princess Yao Tang was a half-living, half-dead god, I would have brought the Godslayer Weapon to drain its blood."
"People wouldn’t have let you bring a lethal weapon into such a harmonious place." Xu Yang said, "If you brought the Godslayer Weapon before Pan Yuan and Princess Yao Tang, Pan Yuan would surely end up fighting you fiercely."
"So what? Bring it on. I don’t believe after all my training I still can’t defeat that dragon called Pan Yuan." Farosa’s confidence brimmed, though she knew the odds were slim.
Xu Yang turned to look; Princess Yao Tang had invited the people she named in her brocade letter. 101 and 102 were strolling arm-in-arm along the shore of Weak Water. The Storm Princess soared in the sky. The Divine Radiance rested on the lawn, and the Star Weaving Lady was cultivating vegetables in her ship cabin.
As this was a peaceful Dragon Assembly, Baby Lila had come uninvited, being brought along by Xu Yang to inspect and record the surroundings.
"Do you feel... like we’ve been to this place before?" Xu Yang felt a vague sense of déjà vu.
"...Yes." Farosa mused.
"It’s as if we’ve shed blood here, as if something catastrophic, earth-shattering happened in Kunxu before... but we forgot. Could the Dragon Assembly be held to help us remember it?" Xu Yang muttered.
"Being in this place makes me want to kiss you." Farosa turned to embrace Xu Yang, "It feels so strange, but I really want to kiss you — as if we’ve done something incredibly romantic here before. What romantic things could we do anyway? We’re already... so familiar with each other, how could anything more romantic possibly happen?"
Xu Yang quietly breathed in Farosa’s scent. For some reason, he missed her intensely, as though he had been separated from her for a long time.
In the sky, a silvery-white burning moon portal began to glow. Mond emerged from the void, spreading its wings and roaring over Kunxu’s skies.
Princess Pelagia followed closely behind, tracing her father’s aerial path as she flapped alongside him. She hadn’t returned to the ground for hundreds of years; now, for the first time, she relived the joy of soaring through the atmosphere.
"Lord Mond has arrived too." Xu Yang observed from afar.
"To be precise, that’s Mond’s most powerful avatar, formed from his demigod dragon soul, used to embody divine power in a new vessel. Its old ’original’ body... you’ve seen before." Farosa looked up.
Xu Yang recalled Mond’s original form, a body far larger than this — left on the Moon’s surface, its wings obscured the sky, providing the Moon Dragon Race a shelter isolated from cosmic space.
Every time Xu Yang visited the lunar palace, he would see Mond’s colossal dragon wings when he looked upward. That original form, while truly the ’body’, had remained unused for a long time; it was a cumbersome giant dragon body from before Mond became a demigod.
After Mond let out a piercing roar, it landed on the ground, elegantly walking with its four dragon claws. Its long whiskers hung from its neck, resembling streams of clouds carrying millennia of wisdom.
"Xu Yang! Farosa!" It cried out arrogantly, seeming smug, "Long time no see."
"Old sly master." Farosa murmured under her breath.
"Lord Mond, do you feel a strange... familiarity? As if we’ve been here before?" Xu Yang asked.
"It might be some peculiar temporal winding effect. This place, today, at this very moment, has backups from two world lines. Yet, our ’presence’ has prevailed; that is, we might experience this day in an alternate manner given the right opportunity." Mond reflected aloud.
Listening to Mond’s explanation, Xu Yang struggled to comprehend.
But that’s precisely what the Dragon Assembly was for. Based on the brocade letter’s introduction, soon, the enigmatic Princess Yao Tang would present herself in person to reveal what truly transpired.
"Do you want to care for my horns again today?" Princess Pelagia enthusiastically directed her words at Xu Yang.
Mond and Farosa’s gaze shifted to Xu Yang.
"Wait..." Xu Yang deflected the topic, "Look who has arrived."
A greenish light approached; Lu Jing from Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing arrived in another small shuttle machine.
Lu Jing from Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing!
Xu Yang was quite familiar with Lu Jing; she was upright, kind, and held a remarkably high status, not to be underestimated.
Previously, Lu Jing worked as an administrative staffer for Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing, stationed in the Northern Archipelago. As a regional liaison, she had helped Nestor Corporation quite a bit.
Over the years, times changed. Lu Jing returned to the parent company, leveraging her professional experience and managerial talents, steadily taking over her father, Lu Kanyan’s role. Soon, she might officially lead the entire corporation.
"Miss Lu has arrived. Lila, let’s go." Xu Yang proceeded to greet her.
"Oh!" Baby Lila trotted behind.
"...She’s said to be a witch." Farosa observed keenly, "I’m really curious about what kind of magic power she possesses."
Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing’s shuttle machine landed.
Lu Jing stepped down from the gangplank.
She gazed intensely at the distant riverside where three figures approached her.
Her lips moved slightly.
There was a sentence she inexplicably wanted to say, as if it were a regret from a past life yearning to find closure in this moment.
—"I want to join Nestor Corporation."
Could she say it aloud? She wanted to express it wholeheartedly, but how could she utter it? What did it mean, and why would such a thought cross her mind?
Lu Jing pursed her lips tightly, a strange sadness flowing through her heart. With her current identity, she would never be able to speak those words.
Lu Sizhou turned his head and saw Lu Jing’s tears.
