Chapter 1043: Chapter 818: Backed by Princess Yao Tang
After the dragon conclave concluded, Princess Yao Tang climbed down from the Flowing Water Stage, with the Golden Dragon Pearl balancing like a juggler’s ball on the tip of her tail.
She rested on the shallow beach along the banks of the Weak Water, sinking part of her body into the mud and sand. Her scales, slick with water, shimmered under the sunlight.
Princess Yao Tang’s dragon form was exquisite, as though every angle of each scale had been meticulously designed to create entrancing patterns. Every time Xu Yang looked at Princess Yao Tang, he was met with her warm, clear eyes.
"Look over here," Farosa pinched Xu Yang’s arm.
"Ah—" Xu Yang sat back down beside Farosa.
They leaned against one another on the grassy banks of the Weak Water.
Xu Yang gazed at Farosa’s profile. She appeared calm and composed, yet her expression carried a touch of unease.
"I... feel a bit frightened," Farosa lowered her voice.
Xu Yang understood Farosa’s disorientation; after all, he too was puzzled by the alternate history revealed during the dragon conclave.
New memories echoed through Xu Yang’s mind like phantoms, leaving behind countless scars along the way. They had been injured, bled, and suffered immensely—experiencing the most despairing moments of their lives.
Faced with Dilnai, who was invincible and ruled the battlefield, what could they possibly do?
Xu Yang grasped Farosa’s hand, gently pressing into her soft palm. Farosa found comfort in Xu Yang’s unusually tender gesture, leaning more of her weight against his side until she felt the strong embrace of his arm holding her close.
"We’re here now," Xu Yang reassured her, "which means we truly rewrote reality and fooled the gods."
"It’s just surviving by the skin of our teeth," Farosa sighed.
"But now that we’re here, we have a second chance—a second, third, and every chance we can take. We won’t fail again, Farosa... don’t fear a history that hasn’t happened." Xu Yang pressed his forehead against her soft hair.
Farosa’s gaze sank downward before slowly rising again.
"Maybe. It has made me a little more clear-minded," Farosa leaned back into Xu Yang’s chest.
"Earlier, Princess Yao Tang mentioned that you were ambushed by Dilnai while fighting an Empress, which means Easter must also be involved," Xu Yang murmured thoughtfully.
"We’ll use this second chance to deal with her," Farosa’s fingers trailed up to Xu Yang’s chin, "I want Easter to pay the price for the history that never occurred."
Then, Farosa closed her eyes in contemplation.
After settling Farosa, Xu Yang rose and walked toward Mond in the distance.
Mond’s massive body was peerless, with bulging muscles, powerful and wide wings, a long and curved tail, and four clawed feet firmly gripping the ground, rumbling as he moved.
His gigantic twin horns extended from the top of his skull, curving backward and stretching along to his neck—a pair of the largest, most visually striking horns among the dragons, symbolizing his undisputed status as their chieftain.
"Lord Mond," Xu Yang bowed to Mond in greeting.
"Well, you’ve seen the events that would have transpired. I won’t need to explain further—you understand," Mond warned Xu Yang, his raspy voice carrying a heavy weight, "This world grows ever more tumultuous, seemingly peaceful yet fraught with danger. Twelve thousand years ago, I was already a dominant force, yet I have never managed to reach the pinnacle of Power. Dilnai has been quietly consolidating her position in the New Taixi State for years; when did the gulf between her strength and mine become so vast?"
Xu Yang looked at Mond, a strange and bold thought stirring in his heart.
"Lord Mond, you ascended to the Moon through tremendous effort, didn’t you?" Xu Yang asked.
"I have ruled the skies; I will not confine myself to ground-bound struggles with other scaled and clawed kin. Naturally, I sought to conquer places others had never ventured to, ruling distant new lands untouched by others. However, no great landmass on the Ground is even half the size of the Moon," Mond said arrogantly.
"But living on the Moon, isn’t it hard to keep up with the ever-changing developments on the Ground?" Xu Yang queried.
Mond’s sharp eyes focused intently on Xu Yang, the brilliance of moonlight seemingly reflected within them, impressing a heavy pressure onto Xu Yang.
"...You wish... to bring the Dragon Clan back to the Ground?" Mond’s massive head slowly lowered.
"Indeed, I think that would increase our odds against Dilnai," Xu Yang said firmly.
Mond turned to discuss something in the mysterious Dragon Tongue with Princess Pelagia. His roars fluctuated between high and low, as if they struggled to reach an agreement. The dragons’ calls were intense and abrupt, filling the air between them with a palpable energy.
Princess Pelagia waved her claws at her father several times, even opening her crimson maw threateningly to reveal rows of sharp teeth. Thick smoke with a sulfurous stench billowed continuously from her nostrils.
Their discussion was unresolved. After a few minutes, the two dragons fell silent, cautiously circling each other.
Finally, Mond stopped moving first. He turned and looked back at Xu Yang.
"Wei Shiyue," Mond declared, ignoring Princess Pelagia’s low growl, "You must seek Wei Shiyue in the great Near Eastern desert. Only she possesses the qualifications to establish a dragon dynasty on the Ground. You know this. You must find her. Once you’ve helped her rebuild the ancient Dragon Empire, we will then send our kin down from the Moon."
"...Understood," Xu Yang nodded. It had indeed been a long time since he last saw Wei Shiyue.
Though he didn’t know the exact reason for Mond and Princess Pelagia’s dispute, it was clearly an internal matter for the Dragon Clan. Xu Yang reasoned that once he met Wei Shiyue, she could likely piece together these tensions.
Princess Yao Tang seemed particularly intrigued by the roaring exchange between the two dragons, craning her neck in their direction.
"Princess Yao Tang, could you discern anything from their roars?" Xu Yang asked as he approached her.
"Not really. Come closer and chat with me," Princess Yao Tang seemed to have a good impression of Xu Yang, allowing him to sit on the riverbank, leaning against her dragon scales.
To him, it was a novel experience—the scales of Princess Yao Tang felt soft and smooth, even softer than Wei Shiyue’s.
"...By the way, does Princess Yao Tang retain memories of both histories?" Xu Yang asked, looking at the Golden Dragon Pearl on her tail.
"Such profound matters are beyond my ability. Actually, about ten days ago, when I inspected the Dragon Pearl, I found it contained a large number of strange new images. That’s how I discovered that today, the day of this dragon conclave, witnessed a timeline shift. After learning this secret history, I felt... it would be wrong to keep such an important, grand, and terrifying matter to myself, so I convened the dragon conclave to reveal it to you all," Princess Yao Tang said lightly.
What a pure-hearted dragon princess. Xu Yang was deeply moved with respect.
"Then... holding the Power over temporal shifts, wouldn’t Princess Yao Tang attract many covetous eyes?" Xu Yang said.
"My elder brother and I were both born in the primordial era. My brother governs ’Space,’ while I govern ’Time.’ He is incredibly powerful, easily carving out the Dragon Gate World—a boundless realm vast enough to contain his enormous form for slow cultivation. As for me, I’m rather inept and have only refined the Dragon Pearl as my sole magical artifact, and I’m still severely injured, burdening my brother with the need to watch over me... In the future, I will remain within the Dragon Gate World, and my brother will seal its entrance. Unless there is an urgent matter, even the Kunxu Sanctuary won’t be opened," Princess Yao Tang said with a hint of regret.
Xu Yang felt a pang in his heart, realizing this meant it would be their last meeting with Princess Yao Tang.
Leaning back against Princess Yao Tang, he fell into deep thought.
Princess Yao Tang slowly turned her dragon head to gaze at Xu Yang. She lowered the Golden Dragon Pearl from her tail and instead retrieved a delicate Jade Casket from beneath her scales, handing it to Xu Yang.
"This is a parting gift," Princess Yao Tang said, "at least it can be a memento of this fleeting, fantastical encounter."
"Thank you," Xu Yang accepted the Jade Casket, which felt nearly weightless, as if it contained nothing at all.
Princess Yao Tang lingered for one final look at the Kunxu World before slowly crawling back into the Weak Water. She dove beneath the surface and disappeared into its bottomless depths, returning to the Dragon Gate World.
The next meeting—who knows when or where it will be... Xu Yang turned to look at the Weak Water, cherishing the rarity of connections and farewells.
Xu Yang returned to Farosa and found that the other witches were also seeking her out, appearing to have just reached an important decision.
"Lady Farosa, we need new Power," 101 stated decisively.
Farosa turned to sweep her eyes over them, as though instantly discerning their worthiness.
"You must grow through battles and bloodshed. I wasn’t particularly concerned about this in the past, but now all High-Ranking and above witches must regularly train in my Little Galaxy Divine Realm for cultivation. 101 will reach Dominator Witch status within weeks. As for you, Storm Princess, you will become a Supreme Witch within four years," Farosa said coldly. She naturally spoke with a tone laden with threat, and now even more so, making the witches too tense to breathe deeply.
"Understood," 101 responded dutifully.
"Got it!" 102 clenched her fists.
"...If I can become a Supreme Witch, the battlefield situation will completely change. At the very least, I’ll be able to face off against Xylophia, the Seven Seals’ Supreme Witch," Storm Princess said with determination.
"..." Farosa frowned slightly.
In the past, anyone mentioning Xylophia would have been silenced immediately. But with their current circumstances, Farosa let it slide for now.
Among Supreme Witches, Farosa was currently the only one. Xu Yang thought quietly.
From lowest to highest: fledgling, Lower Rank, High-Ranking, Dominator, Supreme, and Empress. Farosa was a Supreme Witch elevated to godhood as the Witch Goddess. Xylophia was purely a Supreme Witch, while Easter was an Empress-level witch—all three immensely powerful.
Mid-tier strength relied on Dominator Witches. 102, Storm Princess, Pan Ruiyi, and other members of the Riot Control Mobile Unit were all Dominators. If the experienced, loyal, and battle-savvy Storm Princess could become a Supreme Witch, their combat strength would significantly increase.
"Farosa also needs to grow stronger quickly to rescue Xylophia," Xu Yang said.
"Save your breath," Farosa snorted. Since the public release of historical visions, everyone had witnessed the "glory" of Farosa being struck down with a whip—it wasn’t a good look.
Listening to their conversation, 101 seemed deep in thought.
"I feel like I defeated Xylophia... It was me who took her down—in that strange history. But how exactly did I defeat Xylophia? I can’t recall, I really can’t," 101 said, troubled.
"Let’s go," Baby Lila suddenly approached them quickly, "We’re going to find Lu Jing."
