Chapter 1040: Chapter 816: Second Round of the Dragon Conference
"...I need to rest some more." Lu Jing stood up.
She was exhausted, her body unconsciously tilted, and Lu Sizhou diligently helped support her.
"Miss Lu, you’ve been working too hard." Lu Sizhou said with a sweet voice, leading Lu Jing to a nearby elegant lounge.
Lu Jing lay on her side, her healthy, graceful figure wrapped in tailored nano-fiber fabric.
"Where are we headed?" Lu Jing asked, gazing at the scenery outside the window.
"The Dragon Lecture Conference, hosted by Princess Yao Tang. Didn’t you receive the invitation?" Lu Sizhou cheerfully picked up a golden invitation scroll.
"The Dragon Lecture Conference..." Lu Jing murmured.
She let the weight of her body sink into the seemingly ethereal bedding beneath her, as if she was floating on clouds, watching Lu Sizhou diligently tidy the room.
Lu Sizhou carried out her tasks impeccably. Her movements were elegant yet efficient, expertly organizing the array of messy high-tech gadgets on the desk, arranging them neatly.
She tirelessly opened Lu Jing’s wardrobe and used a high-resolution scanner to examine dozens of outfits with varied textures and qualities, assessing their fabrics and deciding how best to care for them.
Lu Jing turned over, staring at the exquisite, miniature spotlights on the ceiling of the cabin.
The Heavenly Cardinal Aerial Mother Ship, launched at Guangnan Shipyard, took 20 years to construct, creating 7 million jobs, and had participated in 190 battles of various scales.
These detailed statistics swirled in Lu Jing’s memory, as though she’d memorized them at some point.
When was that? Lu Jing couldn’t recall, her mind floated to other memories.
"Can I wield a sword?" Lu Jing asked, her gaze fixed on Lu Sizhou.
Lu Sizhou was sitting obediently on the floor, using a portable clothing care device to clean and press the clothes Lu Jing intended to wear, folding them neatly afterward.
"Miss Lu’s sword? Hmm... I don’t recall that." Lu Sizhou replied weakly.
"Then why do I always remember being able to use a sword?" Lu Jing brushed her hand against her forehead. "Why do I feel like I have magic power? Am I a Witch?"
"Ah—of course you’re a Witch, but you’ve always kept it hidden, never trained your magic power, and no one knows what your magic truly is." Lu Sizhou’s tone was anxious, bewildered by Lu Jing’s sudden inquiries.
Lu Jing sat before the dressing table, while Lu Sizhou gently wiped her face with a technical towel and then used a black sonic brush to style her hair, ensuring its perfection.
"Find me a sword." Lu Jing interrupted Lu Sizhou’s work.
"Uh..." Lu Sizhou nervously walked away, feeling that Miss Lu was acting quite strangely today.
She timidly borrowed a sword from a Tianque Attendant in the corridor and, under his supervision, brought it back to Lu Jing.
Lu Jing lifted the sword.
Her grip was steady. The Tianque Attendant was astonished—Miss Lu actually knew how to use a sword.
Lu Jing chased fleeting visions in her mind, skillfully striking into the air. But her arm muscles were so delicate, akin to fragile blossoms, incapable of wielding the heavy alloy weapon.
Why was the sword so heavy? She gritted her teeth, desperately recalling those elusive images.
In her mind, there was a woman identical to herself, whose swordsmanship was refined, graceful, and effortless. Lu Jing tried to catch up to her, but failed.
Lu Jing was constrained by the formal attire she wore—the sleeves were tailored so finely that they restricted her arm movements. This outfit was designed for business meetings and upscale dining.
She contemplated the overly heavy sword, struggling to make it follow the hazy sword technique in her memory. It refused to cooperate, clumsily carving through the air before ultimately slipping from her grasp.
Before it crashed to the ground, the Tianque Attendant swiftly retrieved the sword, his actions fluid like a fish in water.
"No matter what the Dragons of Kunxu are planning, we will defend you with our lives." The Tianque Attendant stood rigidly upright.
"It’s your fault for failing in security; Miss Lu now feels her personal safety is threatened." Lu Sizhou shouted.
"That won’t be necessary. You don’t need to come along anyway—the invitation was only addressed to me and Lu Sizhou." Lu Jing raised a hand, halting their argument.
The moment they saw her gesture, both the Tianque Attendant and Lu Sizhou aligned themselves straight against the wall.
"But... Miss Lu... are you..." Lu Sizhou hesitated, worried that something was wrong with Lu Jing.
Lu Jing’s expression remained dreamy, half-awake.
"It’s nothing. I think I had a dream—a vivid one, and some of its lingering memories won’t fade. In that dream, I was stronger than I am now. I could wield a sword, channel magic power, digitize thoughts and information, and traverse mountains overnight. But it doesn’t matter, none of that matters anymore, not so much." Lu Jing stared at the window.
Past shadows linger.
The Tianque Attendant silently withdrew and closed the door.
Lu Sizhou continued to attend to Lu Jing, gently preparing her belongings.
She sifted through items, placing Lu Jing’s personal necessities into an expensive portable bag. Once locked, only Lu Jing herself could open it.
"Miss Lu." Lu Sizhou suddenly noticed a new communication. "Someone strange is calling in—it’s connected through your private channel but didn’t identify themselves."
"Put them through." Lu Jing replied dully.
"Hello! Esteemed Miss Lu, as always, I am Rubazio, president of Shimizu Research Company, here to suggest investigating the Dragon Lecture Conference." Rubazio’s grandiose voice transmitted.
Lu Jing glanced at Lu Sizhou, her exhaustion evident—she didn’t wish to speak.
"Ha!" Lu Sizhou responded theatrically, rebuking the Seven Seal Envoy, "You people from the Seven Seals again? Miss Lu already told you—no means no. Stop trying to meddle and infiltrate Kunxu!"
