Chapter 64: 64: Princess Ana

Lilac

As I went off to the kitchen and informed them that I was here to serve princess Ana, my mind was still reeling hard and I was still deep in thoughts. I didn’t know how to feel anymore.

The prince has a bride he’s gonna get married to? Since when?

No matter how long that might be, I still felt weirdly sad on the inside. I thought he liked me, to an extent at least. Or perhaps this was just a little fun for him, then after this little phase passes by, he’ll go ahead to get married to this princess Ana?

I let out a sigh, dragging a hand over my face as I reminded myself to stop being delusional. What did I expect anyway? That just because of a few kisses that probably felt mediocre to him, he’ll suddenly wanna what? Spend the rest of his life with me?

After all, as the crowned prince of a kingdom, he’ll undoubtedly get married to a woman. That’s what’s accepted publicly at the end of the day.

I didn’t even realize I was the subject of attention till I noticed people in the kitchen pointing their fingers at me. I blinked slowly as I forced a lid over my thoughts.

"He’s the one!" One of them insisted while others nodded.

"He’s definitely not."

"I swear he isl!" The one who previously spoke said again. He then walked towards me and I reared back because I felt so lost.

"Isn’t your name Lilac?" The person asked and I blinked at him in confusion before glancing around the kitchen. The rest of the people working were silent as they regarded me, clearly waiting for a response.

"I.,, yeah, I am. But why do you ask...?"

The boy wasn’t even facing me anymore by the time I was done, he was facing the rest of the kitchen and reminding them that he was right. Then they all began to speak at once, till after I asked them what was going on. One of them, a small, timid looking girl between them, was the one kind enough to fill me in.

"Apparently yesterday, the prince’s voice could be heard when he laid a claim over someone named lilac, whereby he said anyone who touches him would end up dying by his hands."

My eyes widened and my mind reeled hard from utter shock and disbelief at the same time.

The prince had said that?

Oh God.

I literally cannot believe my ears, and I was still in immense shock as I accepted Princess Ana’s meal and went over to the direction of her bedroom.

Apparently she was in a part of the palace that was right beside the Prince’s wing, and I was a little nervous when I knocked on her door.

The door was opened by a girl dressed in a different maid attire and I assumed that was the Princess’ personal maid, who let me in and I carefully set the tray on the table in there. After rising to my full height was when I noticed the infamous princess Ana, she was emerging from a different room, decked in a lot of jewelry and a long, flowing dress that was honestly breathtaking.

"Lilac?" She said once her eyes locked with mine and my heart stumbled in my chest as I stood straighter while nodding.

"Yes, your highness."

I had forgotten that she specifically sent for me, and right now, as I watched her wave her personal maid who walked out and left me alone with the princess, that this definitely couldn’t mean anything good.

Princess Ana walked up to me and slowly walked around me, her eyes assessing me from head to toe and my heart pounded hard against my ribs as I waited in silence for her to speak.

"So, you’re the Lilac that my betrothed had taken an interest in?" She drawled once she was standing right in front of me, a grin on her flawless face and her hands at her sides.

My eyes widened as I shook my head, full on panicking, but she chuckled as she waved me off.

"There’s no need to lie, after all that’s clear enough... since you reek of him."

I sucked in a sharp breath, my body growing taut. I didn’t know that I still smelt of the prince after taking off his hoodie this morning when I went to get ready for today.

"Now, do you think that’s fair? That a mere slave is smelling so much of my betrothed? While me, his future wife, doesn’t have an ounce of his scent on me." She continued and my eyes widened as I quickly shook my head, panicking so much on the inside.

The way she was speaking, was like I had done something really wrong, but I don’t even know what it was that I did. Was it my fault that she didn’t have Sloan’s scent on her? What does that even mean anyway?

"My dear lilac, I’m sure you don’t want me to see you as an enemy, right?" She said as she sank into the seat and I was able to breathe a little, but after this question of hers, my heart was back to racing hard as I quickly shook my head.

"Of course not, your highness."

She grinned. "Good, because all my enemies dies, but I feel like you’re too pretty for a fate like that, which is why I’ll give you a simple warning instead."

My eyes widened so much, I worried that my eyes might roll out of their sockets.

"I’ll only tell you this once. Stay away from Sloan. He is mine, and mine alone. Do you understand?"

I nodded my head fast without any hesitation and she quickly nodded, clearly pleased.

"That’s good."

She murmured and I nodded again. She waved at the tray of food I brought in here a few minutes ago.

"You may go, and take that tray away along with you. You can have the meal, after all I doubt you’re being served any actual meal in the slave quarters."
