Chapter 63: 63: New Task

I had a dream, a really confusing one. In it, Sloan was bleeding and battered, he was hurt all over, but he wasn’t sobbing, instead, he had a scary look across his face, and he carried in his arms—- but I was unconscious. The words he said before I woke up were the most confusing.

"Hurt him and die."

I was reeling in confusion even after rising from the bed and taking a shower. When I stepped out of the shower, one of my rude roommates was standing in the doorway, preventing me from walking away. He doesn’t have a scowl on his face this time, instead, he looked curious as he regarded me.

"Did the prince really beat up Prince Zade because of you? That’s all everyone has been talking about. Of course, I don’t believe any of that is real, but I still would like to hear it from you."

I shook my head as I cleared my throat. "That’s not true."

He let out a snort before glancing over at our other roommate. "See? I told you it’s a bluff." He said to the dude while I ducked underneath his arm and walked over to my corner of the room.

"But are you the prince’s toy? His whore?" The second one asked and I was glad I was facing away from them when I put on my shoes, cause my face instantly filled up with heat.

"Of course not." I muttered as I got up and left the room as feet as I could. Jake went to take care of something and was yet to return, im guessing id meet him in the dining area.

In the dining area, I was cornered by a lot of people who wanted to hear from me if the prince really beat up someone because of me. I was still baffled because I still didn’t know how that news got out because I didn’t think anyone witnessed that when it was happening, and now, Jake wasn’t around to help me shove these people away.

"Guys, please leave me alone. I have nothing to say," I yelled as I tried shoving at them to no avail. It was till security arrived and ordered that I be left alone then they all scattered away from me.

I let out a long sigh as I accepted my food and ate. I didn’t sit alone, a few people sat around me and I do recognize them even though we’ve not really exchanged much words so far.

I was glad they didn’t ask me anything and as I ate, I kept checking around for Jake but he didn’t show up at all. Once it was time for our daily tasks to be assigned to us, I went off to the senior’s offices along with everyone.

Once it was my turn, I stepped in and patiently waited. I already know they wouldn’t assign me to Sloan, but I hoped they wouldn’t assign me to any of the Prince’s cousins. If they do assign me to Zade again today; then he’d undoubtedly kill me before I get a full word out in his presence. After all, he was undoubtedly blaming himself for not killing me once when he had the chance to.

"Lilac, right?" The senior scrolling through a file said as she briefly stared up at me and I wordlessly nodded. She was present that night the rest of the seniors forbade me from serving Sloan anymore.

"You’ll be serving princess Ana today. Go to the royal kitchen, get her meal from there and be off." She said then she waved me off, but I didn’t move.

Princess Ana? I didn’t know there was any princess here in this palace?

"I have a question, please. I don’t know who this princess is. How am I supposed to know where she’s located?" I asked and the princess leveled me with a glare before she scrolled through the file again.

"Oh, you weren’t even assigned to her... she specifically requested for you to be the one to serve her today," she revealed and my eyes widened as a feeling of discomfort settled in my stomach.

I was feeling unsure as I left the seniors office and began to make my way to the palace.

I sighed belle and let out a relieved sigh as I waved her over. She was carrying a bunch of brooms along with two more girls, and I guess they were assigned to tend to the compound today.

She came over and grinned at me. "Hi, lilac. How’s it been?"

I returned her smile, feeling happy to be seeing a familiar face this morning. "I’ve been good, and you? How’s Theodore as well?"

Her cheeks reddened a little as she shrugged after glancing around for a few moments.

"I don’t know... I’m not his keeper,"

I regarded her for a few seconds before it clicked. Her cheeks were still pink as she examined her fingers.

"Of course, I just asked since you’re always around each other." I assured her. "I wanna ask you a question though."

"What’s that?"

"Who is Princess Ana? I was assigned to serve her and this is my first time hearing about her."

Her eyes widened a little before she leaned forward. "Ah, Princess Ana? You don’t know her?!"

I slowly shook my head. "Am I supposed to?"

She laughed this time. "It’s just that... everyone knows who she is. She is the crowned prince of one of the biggest kingdom around, and she’s here right now because we heard..." she trailed off as she leaned closer. "She’s Apparently betrothed to the crown prince."

My eyes widened and it felt like I hadn’t heard right at first. "What?" I whispered while my heart reeled. That was the last thing I expected to hear, and I didn’t know the prince was already betrothed to someone!

"Wow." I whispered because other words seemed to have failed me.

"But not to worry. She’s not as scary as the crowned prince. She’s a sweetheart, everyone says that’s about her. I’m sure she won’t be a hassle to serve like the cursed prince," she informed me and I awkwardly nodded because again, I had nothing else to say.
