Chapter 65: 65: Captured

Lilac

As I left Princess Ana’s room, along with the tray, I felt insulted to the bones. Back at home, I was literally a crowned princess, and despite all the mockings and abuses, I was still regarded as a princess by everyone. To be treated like a mere lowlife by this Princess Ana was belittling and mortifying, but alas there was nothing I could do about it.

I stared down at the tray of food before grimacing, then returning it to the kitchen. She hadn’t been right about the food statement, the slave quarters provided the servants more than enough food, but even if they didn’t, I wasn’t that desperate to eat this food. I wasn’t in the mood to eat anything anyway, not when I’m still reeling in shock from the warning she gave me.

Belle had said that I was in luck because apparently this princess was a sweetheart but by my first encounter with her, she was the complete opposite of that. She literally threatened my life without flinching and with a smile still on her face.

I let out a long sigh as I began to walk out of the palace. Technically, I was already done with my chores for the day like this and could return back to the slave quarters. On getting there, I could wash my dirty clothes and sheets then rest for the rest of the day.

However, I wouldn’t be doing that, because I promised the prince I’d come see him today even though I wasn’t assigned to him.

Princess Ana’s warning kept echoing in my head as I walked up to the Prince’s wing. I wouldn’t lie, I was a little frightened and I wouldn’t like to get killed because of this. I didn’t even know if the princess had been bluffing or not, and that was giving me a headache.

My mind travelled to the little encounter I had at the kitchen this morning, where they were talking about the prince laying a claim on me. That sounded almost too good to be true, but it was clear that they hadn’t been lying, especially since it seems like that’s where the princess also got to know of my existence.

I let out a long breath. All of this was leaving me feeling confused and wxd making my headach to get worse.

As I approached the Prince’s wing, excitement began to dance within me and my heartbeat began to accelerate. I was excited to see the Prince today. Yesterday started off very horribly but ended up being one of the best days of mine here in this kingdom since the day I got here, and once again, I was still unable to believe the fact that he saved me from what I believed would be my end.

I hoped that the Prince wouldn’t have changed his mind and that he’d still be interested in me coming to visit him today. Now that I was aware he had a betrothed, I was unsure of where he stood, and i hated that uncertainty that was now in my mind since the moment I discovered Princess Ana’s existence.

In the next moment, about ten guards surrounded me and my eyes widened as I stumbled, fear fully swamping up my insides. Strong hands grabbed me then I was being dragged in the other direction of where I was initially heading in.

I panicked, kicking my feet and trying to wiggle out of the strong hold while my heart raced so hard, it felt like I was gonna be sick.

These guards weren’t like the ones positioned outside the Prince’s wing, their attire was different but I’ve seen them around the palace a lot of times.

"Let me go! Where are you taking me?!" I cried out loudly, my throat and chest feeling tight while I continuously kicked my legs out. f(r)eew(e)bnovel.(c)o(m)

"To the king." One of them gruffed out in response and my eyes widened as my heart flew right into my throat, doom settling in the pits of my stomach like a rock.

Huh?

The king??

Sloan’s father???

Oh god.

"You can’t take me to him, please!" I cried out, tears filling my eyes at once as fright gripped me really tightly. I was so frightened right now that I couldn’t breathe.

The guards didn’t listen to me, and kept dragging me along with themselves.

When I remembered the prince’s crest which I thankfully slipped into my pocket while getting dressed this morning, relief settled in my chest.

"I have the Prince’s crest, you can’t take me anywhere I don’t want to go!" I cried out loudly, heart pounding hard against my ribs.

To my utter shock, they all let go of me at once and I fell to the ground.

I scrambled to bring out the crest which I shoved to them at once, while still breathing hard.

"Here! See? It’s really the Prince’s crest!" I kept chanting as they all took a look at it before resting back, a pale look settling over their faces.

I was starting to calm down, feeling like I had successfully gotten out of this situation and feeling extremely thankful that the Prince decided to give me this yesterday... but I should have known it could never be this simple.

"That doesn’t mean shit to the king cause the king has more power!" One of the ten guards thundered as he stepped forward and my heart fell to my feet as I gaped up at him.

He glanced at the rest of the guards and urged them to grab them, but they all refused, shaking their heads, their faces still looking pale and frightened.

The guard who previously spoke, let out a loud scoff as he regarded the rest of the guards. "You’re all a bunch of pussies! What can the cursed prince do to the literal king?! Nothing!"

When the rest of the guards still didn’t move, the guard, which seemed to be the most fearless of the bunch, let out one last scoff before swooping and grabbing me, then he threw me over his shoulder while I screamed and kicked my legs out again.

"Guess I’ll take him to the king myself!"
