Chapter 29: Adventurers

Zane looked at the man from a distance. He grabbed his chin. "That man isn’t a player, yet he is unique. I hope I get to see him again," Zane said before turning and walking away.

"Master, where are we headed to now?" Lucy asked.

"For now, I don’t know. DragonBlade Kingdom is pretty large, even for a small kingdom. There are many cities, towns, and places that each serve their purpose," Zane said.

"Master, you seem to know so much about this kingdom," Lucy said.

Zane already knew she would ask something like this, so he waved and spoke, "Lucy, remember those things I told you I couldn’t say? This is one. I have a way I know all I know, but for now, I can’t tell you," he said, and she nodded, not saying anything else.

"There are many special things we have to do in this kingdom, certain people we will have to take down as well. So for now, we will head to where our path takes us," Zane said. He suddenly felt a hint of sadness come from Grey, and he knew the reason.

"Grey, where did you live before you were taken away?" Zane asked.

"Me?" he asked, shocked that Zane wanted to know.

"Yeah, you," Zane said.

"Uhm, my hometown is called Orion, a small town that’s very close to a major city, Skyblade City," Grey said.

’Skyblade City, I know that place. It’s a hotspot for trade, and also it’s a sky island, a floating island known as the Sky Palace. I do want to visit it,’ Zane thought. He turned and looked at Grey.

"We will head to your town when we can, so you can finally see your family," Zane said and kept walking, but Grey froze. Happiness welled up inside him, knowing that he would finally be able to one day see his family. He rushed to catch up.

They walked along the path for a while without any goal in mind. After a while, Zane spotted a carriage in the distance. It wasn’t a normal carriage but one for carrying goods.

The carriage seemed to be under attack. Goblins, three feet tall and with puke-like green skin, were attacking them. Four adventurers stood fighting against the goblins.

The goblins had savage eyes, inch-long claws, and some wielded weird weapons like rusted swords and sticks. There were at least fifty of them coming from all sides.

The place they were was very far from the city, and the path was close to a forest. That must have been where they came from.

The adventurers were made up of two men and two young ladies. The man that seemed to be the leader was a level six knight, fully armed and with a long sword, while the rest of his party were level fives. The second man was a large bald man with a greatsword; his swings were heavy.

One of the ladies was a mage. She had purple hair and a very beautiful body, which she exposed quite a bit too much, with a black and purple gown that showed too much.

And one could see why she would do that because she was very endowed, and with every swing of her hand to cast a spell, there was an unneeded amount of bounce.

The second lady looked a bit younger. She was smaller, used dual blades, and was dressed like a scout. Her black hair was cut to neck length to stop it from obstructing her movements.

The four of them did everything possible to make sure that they didn’t allow the goblins to get close to the carriage.

"What do we do, Master?" Grey asked.

"Hmmm, let’s see... I guess we can help. Doesn’t really take anything much," Zane said. He pulled his dagger and rolled it around his hand. "I’ll handle the goblins," Zane said before launching forward, running so fast he became a blur.

In only a few seconds, he reached the scene. A goblin leaped at the leader of the adventurers. He managed to block but stumbled back and was falling. The goblin flipped into the air and came down to bite his face.

Slash

Suddenly the goblin was split in half, dark red blood splattering everywhere.

[You have gained 10 EXP]

Zane didn’t even pause for a moment. He moved fast, slashing through goblin after goblin, creating a massive rain of blood.

Did he do this because he really wanted to help? Not at all. In honesty, he simply saw a chance to gather more EXP.

He cut through the goblins like the grim reaper. Every slash was a dead goblin; their bodies littered the floor. After several minutes, he had killed every goblin. Their bodies lay there, split in half.

And he had managed to get five hundred EXP easily and had leveled up.

[You have leveled up, 4 free stat points]

He smiled when the message came and then finally looked up at the adventurers. They stared at Zane, confusion and shock in their eyes as they saw him standing there.

Grey looked at Lucy. "Does Master like to show off?" he asked.

"Maybe," she replied with a slight smile.

"Who are you?" the leader managed to ask.

"I’m Zane," he replied casually. "Sorry for killing your goblins. It seemed like you all needed some help," Zane said.

’He killed all of them so fast... and by himself? This man... who is he?’ the leader thought.

"No, no, it wasn’t a problem at all. You saved us. Fighting that amount of goblins was not easy at all," the leader said.

While they spoke, a voice suddenly roared from the carriage.

"Who the hell are you?" The voice was loud, deep, and rough.
