Cursed Bloodline: Awakened a Hidden Class in a Game World
Chapter 28: Who gives you that right?

Chapter 28: Who gives you that right?

Zane refused to kill any player here, and despite the fact that their blood could give him three stat points, he still decided not to. They continued walking away, leaving the ground sprawled with them.

But then, out of nowhere, a player who had woken up sprung up, sword in hand, coming fast. Killing intent seeped out from him as he attacked with full fury.

But Zane stepped to the side and grabbed the sword, and without a single pause, he snapped it in two and stabbed it right into the man’s neck, killing him.

"You should learn to stay down when you are shown mercy. I don’t show it twice," Zane spoke, voice cold.

Blood gargled in the man’s throat, his eyes rolled back as he died right there. Zane let go. The cuts in his hand from grabbing the blade of a sword healed up. He didn’t even bother tasting the blood at all.

He took one step and then heard a voice yelling at him, "You monster!"

He turned around, and it was Lewen standing there. He had watched Zane murder that player. Zane raised an eyebrow; he looked at Lewen in confusion.

"You murdered him without any care at all. How could you be so ruthless? He has a family waiting for him to leave this damn place one day," Lewen yelled.

And only at this moment did Zane realize something. ’The players take the NPCs as just NPCs. They don’t value NPC life. They feel they are simply an expendable part of the game.

But this... this is no longer a game, and the NPCs have life—stories, reasons to live. Lucy, Grey—they both have feelings and genuine stories. Their pain and their joy... but the players take them as nothing but part of the game system.

I hate that. I don’t know why, but I hate that to my bones—disregarding my life because you feel you are special. Who the fuck gives you that right?’ Zane thought. He slowly looked at Lewen, his eyes glowing red.

"Lewen, you just made me have a change of mind," Zane muttered under his breath. "Since you’ve chosen to believe I can be killed, yet I shouldn’t kill you, I’ve decided to etch reality into you," Zane said, pulling out his dagger.

"Lucy, hold down Lewen," he said casually. Lewen tried to run, but she was already behind him. She grabbed both his hands behind his back and made sure he was unable to move. She grabbed his head and forced him to look at Zane.

"Watch me break your reality," Zane said and grabbed one of the players, forced the player to wake up. The man saw he was in the hands of Zane and began screaming, but Zane didn’t care. He forced the man to kneel, and right in front of Lewen, he slit the man’s throat and let him bleed to death.

He lifted the dagger and licked the blood off it.

[You have gained 3 stat points]

Lewen watched in horror. How could anyone take a life so casually? He felt hate rising up against Zane, a hate that couldn’t be quenched unless by his death.

"Lewen, this is my promise to you: every time I see you, a new random person or two will die for your sake. And trust me, I’ll see you. And I’ll make you watch. For as long as you exist, I’ll be the horror that silently chases you. And then we’ll see if you find our lives valuable," Zane said and walked away. Lucy left Lewen and followed Zane.

Lewen stayed on the ground, his knees against the cold, hard floor. He looked at the body that was bleeding out there all because of him. He gritted his teeth.

"I’ll kill you, Zane. I’ll kill you, you blood monster. I’ll make sure the earth drinks your blood," Lewen swore.

[.....]

After a while, Zane finally made it to the city gate, and just when he arrived, he spotted his poster on the wall as wanted. The guards were checking people to make sure they weren’t Zane.

Zane got in line without worry, and slowly it got to his turn. When the guards looked at him, they were about to rush at him, but his eyes glowed red. He used Charm on them, and immediately, it worked.

"You’ll let me through," Zane said, and they nodded, allowing him to walk through without issue. And so he stepped out of the city that he had only come to a few days ago.

He took in the fresh air and looked around when suddenly a massive shadow loomed over him. He turned around to see who it was, and there was a massive man standing there. Zane was tall, but this fella was two grades taller and had a very bulky build.

"You are the person that is wanted. What a pleasure to see you here," the man spoke in a deep tone and stretched his hand to his back to pull out his massive sword.

Zane didn’t want to cause a scene just right outside the gate, so he used his Charm again. But for some reason, it didn’t work. The man removed his sword and swung.

’It didn’t work?’ Zane was shocked, but he stood there without care, and before the sword could reach him, Lucy blocked the attack, her dagger cutting through the sword.

"Lucy, use your Charm," Zane said, and she did but again, it didn’t work. Zane was stunned. How could the man resist the Charm? Now he wanted to know really badly, but now was not a good time.

"Retreat," Zane said, and right before the man’s eyes, they vanished, moving so fast he couldn’t follow. They were already a hundred meters away.

He looked at his damaged sword and let out a pissed off groan. It would be a pain to get a new sword done for him now. But on the other hand, he was eager to find them now and fight, because he wanted to fight strong opponents.
