Chapter 266: Follow You

It was two days Si Ning spent moping around during those times Si Ning acted like a child, leaving Song Feng to do everything for him including treating his wound, feeding him, giving him water to drink and even watching him sleep. All Si Ning did was tear part of his inner robe which was white and gave it to Song Feng to draw a little map on it with charcoal from the leftover of the fire they made the previous night, the map was based on what Song Feng could remember, the path he took running with Si Ning on his back and Si Ning combined the memory of what he remembered from the map he lost and Song Feng explanation to create a map leading to the end of the Blossoms trees, it was a rough sketch but Si Ning was sure he got it right unless Song Feng explanation was wrong.

Their journey had been going on smoothly, it was Song Feng that turned into a hunter, hunting for rabbits and when he catches them, he would roast the rabbit using the woods he gathered and cut the meat with Si Ning’s sword because he lost his dagger too, he made a bottle out of leaves where he kept water for drinking, he would make sure Si Ning drank first before him and when the water finish they would eat the fruits he picked and used it to quench their thirst till they find a source of water.

On their journey Song Feng discovered a clean river where they drank and then later took a bath and Si Ning did too, after Song Feng helped Si Ning to wash his hair and took Si Ning’s outer robe to wash, making sure at least a large amount of the dried blood was washed off. Si Ning only wore his inner garment and watched Song Feng spread out his robe on a rock to dry at the bank of the river.

When the robe dried and Si Ning wore it, it was like the dirty cloth was part of the reason he had no energy or motivation to do anything because immediately he tied his belt his eyes came alive again, he collected the map and started leading the way with determined strides, he didn’t talk about what happened nor did he mention his revenge anymore, he only concentrated on the direction he marked out on the map, he was feeling much better because the concoction Song Feng made for him and the medicinal leaves he ate made his pale face to come alive, replenished his blood, gave him energy and his wounds had started to heal except the large wound on his hand, they didn’t rest nor did they stop until they reached a fork.

"This is where we part." Si Ning said firmly as he turned to Song Feng. "Here." He stretched his hand to give Song Feng the map but Song Feng made no move to collect it. "Take this and go that way, it is a curve and you shouldn’t spend more than three days on foot before you get to the end of the Blossom trees." He explained.

"What do you mean?" Song Feng asked as his eyes turned sad as he took a step back, shaking his head just to show he doesn’t agree with Si Ning. "Are you getting rid of me because of the kiss?" He asked due to panicky.

"That never happened." Si Ning said firmly as he looked in the other direction he was going to take. Song Feng caught him in a moment of weakness and he was sane enough to back away the moment their lips touched so it could barely be called a kiss.

"Is it because I lost your bow? I promise you that the bow will still be in the pit, I can go back to get it.."

Si Ning sighed as he raised his forefinger to indicate for Song Feng to stop talking, he had no idea what type of human Song Feng thought he was as if he would be so petty as to make him go back for his bow. "You should know by now that I am not heading to the end of the Blossom trees, I am heading for Ge Liang’s base, I know it is going to be dangerous but I do not want to drag anyone down with me, it is my fight." He explained calmly.

During the last two days, Si Ning knew he doesn’t want to go to the end of the Blossom trees to show his defeated face to his men, he was so sad yet he didn’t leave out his planning, he made sure to have at least three plans of how he was going to sneak in and kill Ge Liang, he also planned his escape and his plan doesn’t include Song Feng.

"I want to follow you, I am a doctor that saves lives but for you, I will take lives because you’re a dear friend, I am also not done paying for the sins of my father." Song Feng said as he reached forward to hold Si Ning’s hand just to show his desperation and his hand even shook a little like he was scared that Si Ning would slap his hand away.

Si Ning sighed again, for his plan to work he needed to work alone. "I do not have anything to give you and with the dangers ahead, you could die and never see your unborn child." He explained hoping that would make Song Feng give up.

"When I left home, I am determined to follow you till the end." Song Feng said to show his resolution as he fell on one knee. "You’re the Empress of Xiu and I Song Feng will follow you until I am no longer useful to you and until you get rid of me by your sword." He said firmly.

Si Ning had no strength to argue so he let it be and placed a hand on Song Feng’s head wondering what a foolish man he was to stake his head for him just because he was in love with him which was hopeless. Si Ning took a deep breath as he took a step back and turned to go on his way.

Song Feng jumped on his feet and quickly followed. "I will not hinder your plan and if it comes to a worst case I will be a divert the enemy for you to escape and...."

"Just shut up!" Si Ning snapped. "You are so annoying to dare talk to me casually but I will allow it because if it wasn’t for you I will be dead now and I might sustain an injury so don’t you dare be a diversion because I still need you to treat me." He scolded Song Feng in his own way.

"Yes." Song Feng nodded that he even shed a tear just because he was happy that he was allowed to come.

This time around none of them said a word as they started to walk in the woods instead of walking by the route, they need to conceal their identity and make sure they weren’t found out and after walking for what seemed like an eternity they finally got close to the base. Song Feng was a bit amazed that even with their incomplete mad drawing, Si Ning could find Ge Liang’s base it almost seemed like heavens were on their side and without even knowing they had been on the right track even diverting their walk away from the Blossom trees yet Song Feng didn’t know until they reached the fork where Si Ning planned for them to separate.

Si Ning and Song Feng layed down flat on the floor, only their head was raised, Ge Liang’s base was still a hundred meters from them but they could see it clearly and they didn’t expect to see few soldiers around and from the way they dressed which Si Ning didn’t notice earlier when he was riding to collide with them. Now he could see that they were all private soldiers that Ge Liang might have hired to kill him and they weren’t Xilie’s army

Si Ning gritted his teeth because if he and his men had gotten to their base they would have annihilated everybody but it was impossible for him alone to carry it out, if he kills Ge Liang he was sure the private company soldiers wouldn’t chase after them because their master would be dead which means no payment and they would be free and no longer be bound to follow Ge Liang’s orders.

Si Ning started counting the visible ones only to see one of the soldiers walk out of a tent, holding a rope which was tied to seven men, the men were staggering as they walked, their clothes bloody, their appearance dirty, clearly prisoners and Si Ning’s eyes widened because they were his men and it seemed they were the only ones that were captured and might have survived the attack.

"Ah?" Song Feng’s mouth fell open.

Danger!

Si Ning’s ears picked a slight sound that he quickly jumped up to his feet and turned swiftly to point his sword. It was so careless of him not to notice that their location had been compromised, a man was approaching them but Si Ning had been so focused on trying to find a hole in the base and was shocked to see seven of his men alive and now he was caught red handed because he didn’t pay attention to his surroundings.

This wasn’t part of the plan.
