Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake -
Chapter 89 – A demi god (Annabelle)
Chapter 89: Chapter 89 – A demi god (Annabelle)
After everything, it hurts so much, even though I suspected foul play with the way everything happened that day.
Iris didn’t die, yet he was trying to set me up for the second time, as if I were some kind of invisible object
Fortunately, I wasn’t as desolate as before. This time around, I have my mom, son, Zion, and even Gaius, whom I trusted would never doubt me.
As for Zach, I couldn’t be certain that he would take my side due to the allegations leveled against me, but when he showed signs of not doing so, it still broke my heart.
It was just a moment, and I thought that he would betray me again, but it turned out it was another spell. His sisters had manipulated him all this while, and I was eager to know what he would do about it.
Zach must have dealt with Kari ruthlessly, but these were his sisters, and I know just how much he loves Iris.
However, everything changed with that embrace. He was coming to his senses, knowing that his sisters were evil, and unfortunately for them, that ball in Iris’s hand rolled to my feet when it fell, so I picked it up.
"No, please don’t break it. I’m begging you," Iris cried, which made me certain that there was more to it.
Perhaps if she had just been quiet, I wouldn’t have known and wouldn’t have bothered to break it. "
And if I do?" I asked daringly. She paled at once. "Please don’t. I will do anything," she suddenly said, and I instantly gained the upper hand in the whole thing.
"Then come clean, and I might consider returning this ball to you." With hope in her eyes, I knew I had succeeded in giving her hope, but the thing is, not only the witches were good at manipulation.
Everybody, including me, is capable of it, except that some of us are just too pure to resort to such evil means.
"Do I have your word?" She asked with hopeful eyes. Zach mind-linked me. "Don’t give her that ball." I wasn’t privy to mind-linking with others except him because of my mark sealing our bond.
"I’m sure I can handle this better, Alpha under a spell," I replied teasingly. I heard him chuckle before he mind-linked again. "Careful, I might just make you pay for teasing the Alpha."
"Oh, how?" I continued being playful, realizing I didn’t have something like this with him before, but it wasn’t too late to start. "You’ll see when this is over," he replied as I shook my head and focused on the issue at hand.
"You have my word, Iris, but you have to speak the truth. One lie, and this ball would hit the ground with a force that would shatter it beyond repairs."
Nervousness washed over her, but my confidence raised as she replied, "You win. Everything was a set-up."
The tribe members looked afraid, but none of them spoke like before when they were so quick to condemn me. Except they were also under a spell a while ago like their Alpha. I’ll make sure they pay for always being eager to throw me under the bus.
I remembered when Zach condemned me to the brazen bull. They were all happy to see me perish, so how could I be a Luna to a tribe that does not value me?
"I don’t think you are making sense. Can someone get me a chair?" I requested, and a chair was brought to me within the blink of an eye, and I sat elegantly on it.
Matters like this were not worth wasting my strength on, and I didn’t want to give them any respect by standing to judge.
"Anna, I’m sorry, but I needed to go, and you were a scapegoat. That was before I realized you are the one who saved Zach."
As much as I tried to stop it, a tear slid down my cheek, and soft hands quickly wiped it. "Please don’t cry, Mom. It hurts to see you that way," Zeke said with a sorrowful expression, and a humorless chuckle escaped me.
About to respond, Zach assured me. "Don’t worry. Today, everything will be over, and I will make sure your mother never sheds a single tear ever again."
The pain in his eyes was an obvious show of regret for his actions, whether he remembered it or not. "Anna, you already won, so please let it go," Ivy spoke this time, and my gaze pinned on hers.
"Won? I don’t see a trophy," I retorted sarcastically. Anger shone in her eyes, but she went mute.
"Ivy, please let me bear the burdens of my own sins," Iris countered, and my attention shifted back to her.
"You set me up for your brother to condemn me, thinking you were dead. So what punishment do you declare for yourself?"
My question seemed to surprise her due to how she looked at me, but I was surely determined to get my pound of flesh.
"Look, I’m sorry. I just needed freedom he wouldn’t give because of how much he cares about me. Look, I’m next in line to the Lunar Echoes tribe, so you have to forgive me," she hinted, and I felt there was more.
She was hiding something because who would want to kill another person just because of youthful exuberance? She could have just eloped after leaving a note behind.
"Okay, I forgive you," I shrugged, and she beamed. "Thank you, Anna. I knew you are kind," she said, about to take the crystal ball from me when I dodged her movement.
"I forgive you doesn’t mean I will return the ball to you," I revealed, and Zach smirked, and I was amazed by how fast he caught on.
"What do you mean? Are you going to punish me for just a mere set-up?" She sounded distant and unfeeling, so I decided to teach her a lesson.
"It’s simple. Since the set-up means nothing to you, then I suggest you go through the same punishment I did. If you survive, this ball will be yours."
Watching their faces changing color was one of the best things to happen to me. "That ball means everything to me," she challenged, and I smiled at her.
"Then I might drop it if you continue arguing. Your brother kept me in that brazen bull till the crimson moon appeared. It was your fault. You set me up, so if you want your so-called little treasure, then the decision is yours to take," I ended the argument, and Iris had paled.
"Look, I had no idea my brother was going to put you inside that brazen bull, so you can’t blame Iris for it," Ivy said, and I couldn’t help smiling.
How hypocritical when she was among the people urging Zach on, even upset when I was saved by the Crimson Moon?
"Ivy, you were the one insisting for me to be punished, then when you knew your sister was still alive. In this case, you are both deserving of the same punishment," I spelled out, and it was as if a rain of tears was waiting to be released.
They slid down her cheeks like a storm, but nothing moved inside me. I could still remember how they mocked me that day, and now they want to escape? I will be dead before it happens.
"Please, Anna, you are kind and can’t do this," Iris said in a pleading tone, when she suddenly paused, her expression stern.
"Indeed, I can’t be punished. I’m a demigod," she revealed, and those who weren’t strong enough shuddered.
"What? A demigod?" Zach asked with shock in his eyes, mirroring mine. "Yes, I have powers beyond the ethereal realm, so no one can kill me," she declared, her voice gaining authority.
However, Zach looked deflated and bitter. "You? Everything was you." "I don’t know who to trust anymore," Zion added, and I smiled at them. "Trust your wolf," I answered, and Zach nodded at me.
"You are right, but what they did was dreadful, and they have to pay," he retorted, and everyone agreed, except the two people involved.
"As a demigod, what have you done in your lifetime?" I asked, hoping that pretty soon, I would be able to uncover more.
"Why should I tell you when Zach already declared my fate? I was his favorite, but because of you, everything changed," she said bitterly, and a humorless chuckle escaped me.
"I don’t care if he’s your brother, and neither do I care about the depth of love and bond you both share. Perhaps you have forgotten that I have something in my hand that belongs to you."
Her expression changed into one of sorrow at the mention of the ball, and she began to reveal, "Everything I’m working on is yet to be materialized because my destiny is to rule all the tribes."
For some reason, fear spiraled through me. "What are you talking about?" I lifted the ball in my hand to give her no room to refuse.
"Zach should have been left to die after the snake bite, but you were able to save him, and that is why you have to die."
"Unfortunately for you, you are the one deserving of death," I said, ready to smash the ball on the floor when a strange voice roared in anger.
"Don’t even try it." "Who are you?" I asked, staring at the couple, whose eyes were glued on Zach and Zion, before settling on Zeke.
