Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake -
Chapter 51: Her reassurance (Alpha Zion)
Chapter 51: Her reassurance (Alpha Zion)
Dina’s suggestion proved effective, ultimately revealing that Zach was the mysterious man she had slept with. I couldn’t comprehend why I felt so compelled to protect her, but it became clear that it was my responsibility.
Her pup was a nephew to me, so if his father didn’t want him, then it was my duty to care for him, and that’s exactly what I had been doing up to this point.
"I initially thought his love for carrot juice might be due to the blood transfusion, but I now recall that the cravings existed before Alpha Zach attacked me," she disclosed, confirming my suspicions.
"Yet, he nearly killed his own pup," I concluded. Anger can indeed cause significant destruction, but I never imagined that Zach’s anger could lead to such consequences.
From all indications, the curse began earlier than the prophecy mentioned, encompassing all that had transpired. Zach’s words echoed in my mind, prompting me to ask her, "Your mother, have you noticed anything peculiar about her?"
She appeared saddened but answered truthfully, "In the eight years I’ve lived with her, she has always been drawn to dark places and avoided the light. When I knelt at the coven to obtain the elixir, I felt an unusual comfort in the darkness. What exactly are you getting at?"
Despite my initial hesitation, the revelation of her mate being Zach raised numerous questions that needed answers.
"Zach informed me that your mother is a vampire, which may explain why Draven is also your mate," I disclosed, immediately regretting the impact it had on her pallid complexion.
She was still recuperating from the strain of shifting between wolf and Lycan forms, as well as giving birth to her pup, so delicate matters like this required careful handling.
"If my mother is a vampire, then I must be one too. Why do I not exhibit any vampire traits?" she inquired, leaving me equally perplexed. "I honestly have no explanation, but Draven mentioned that you are a chimera, capable of embodying various supernatural traits."
Remembering her Lycan form made me slightly afraid, and I felt the need for assurance that she would not attack my tribe someday. Given the choice between a Lycan and a vampire, a vampire would be the preferable option due to their weaknesses.
However, Lycans didn’t have many weaknesses. I recalled how fast Bella worked, a trait she likely inherited from her mother.
"Bella, you are also a Lycan, so if one day you..." I started to say, but she interrupted me. "If you think I will ever betray you, then you don’t know me. Besides, your blood runs through my veins. You once told me it would turn to poison if I betrayed you," she reminded me. I smiled and confessed,
"Well, that isn’t entirely true. It’s just something I made up to keep the tribe members faithful."
She laughed at my words but reassured me, "Zion, besides my mother, you are the only one who has shown me unconditional love, and I would die before I harm you or this tribe."
That was the only assurance I needed, so I decided to call in the rest after hinting a serious warning. "You might have three sides, but only one should be known to tribe members, and you already know which one."
Sorrow crossed her face, and before I could ask why, she informed me. "My Lycan informed me that if I reject my werewolf mate, then she will dominate. With it being Alpha Zach, I wanted to see him and proceed with the rejection to be free from his mark as well, but now..." Her voice trailed off.
It was quite sorrowful how fate could turn out. Zach thought he was marking Bella to track her, but it turns out he marked his true mate, and now, because of the safety of my pack, she wouldn’t be able to reject him in order not to lose her wolf.
Being a chimera has its advantages, but I guess there are great disadvantages as well. For instance, a werewolf could be blessed with a second and third chance mate after a rejection, but with a chimera, every rejection meant death for that personality.
So, for example, her rejection of Zach will kill her wolf, just as her rejection of Draven will kill her vampire side.
In this case, we might have to wait until she finds her Lycan mate, though I so wish she wouldn’t. Her acceptance of that side of her will only make her dangerous to our kind.
"You know what, let’s forget everything and celebrate the pup," Dina said excitedly, joy overshadowing me. "You are right. The birth of a pup is a time of great celebration, so we shouldn’t allow anything to steal that joy."
Bella agreed as she got off the bed. "But my stomach. Will it remain like this?" she asked worriedly. Dina laughed.
"No, dear, it will shrink with each passing day, but you need to eat healthy and exercise to get your original figure back."
With our lifestyle, that part did not seem like a problem to her. "As soon as I heal from the sores, I will do just that."
With excitement, I quickly mind-linked the tribe members to inform them. ’We have a new tribe member. Zeke Ziglar,’ I announced. Bella’s eyes rolled to the back, indicating that congratulatory messages were flooding in.
Apphia and Madai came in with the pup, and seeing his red hair, I began to wonder if he would also be hunted like his mother. Bella finished the mind-link and asked me, ’You named him?’
Her question made me realize my mistake, so I quickly apologized. "I’m sorry. I got carried away."
"It’s alright, and besides, you are his uncle," she said excitedly. I shook my head. "His father doesn’t want him, so allow me to take up the responsibility."
This time, she didn’t argue but smiled, though it was a sad one. If Zach wasn’t the pup’s father, she would have insisted on not wanting to burden me with the responsibility. But as it turned out, she didn’t have a choice.
However, I felt the need to do one last thing, and that is giving Zach one last opportunity to make things right before Bella closes the door to her heart. So, I informed her.
"Bella, there is somewhere I need to be, but don’t worry. Madai, Dina, and Apphia will take care of you. I will be back in a few hours."
Her eyes carried worry, and I knew she had a lot of questions, but I didn’t give her the chance before dashing out of Dina’s hut with only one destination in mind.
