Chapter 50: I reject you (Annabelle)
Chapter 50: I reject you (Annabelle)
"Where am I?" I asked, and a voice responded, ’It’s time, Bella.’
The voice seemed to come from within my head, and I felt disoriented. Although it felt familiar, I couldn’t dwell on it as I immediately questioned, ’Who are you, and how do you know my name?’
The revelation left me stunned. ’I’m your Wolf, Sai,’ the response came swiftly, followed by another voice saying, "Hey, I’m also here. I’m your Lycan, May."
Fear gripped me as I processed the information. "Wait, this is strange. I can’t have a wolf and a Lycan at the same time," I exclaimed, considering the impossibility due to the nature of their transformations. However, the voices sounded genuine and distinct.
’Yes, and I’m struggling to share you with her,’ Sai communicated in my mind, adding to my confusion. ’I don’t understand what’s happening.’
Feeling overwhelmed by the challenges ahead, including caring for my pup, I was wary of more surprises. ’Well, she’ll have to adapt because we are meant to be three in here for a chimera,’ May disclosed, deepening my confusion.
Unable to grasp the situation fully, I rubbed my temples in frustration. ’Wait, who is the third person?" I inquired, but May evaded the question.
’I won’t tell you until the right time, but do us some good and find your mate. Once you do, I can expel them all and dominate you alone,’ May hinted cryptically. Her words sent a shiver down my spine.
Initially, I had hoped that the man I rescued would come to my rescue, but he turned out to be different from the person my mom had described and had managed to get on my bad side.
As I looked around, the surroundings felt all too familiar, a place I despised, including my own existence.
"Where am I?" I whispered, Sai’s voice echoing in my mind once again. ’You are where you belong, with our mate. I suppose your Lycan side will be the one to go. Embrace our mate and let’s rid ourselves of the rest.’
The idea appealed to me as I longed to be a she-wolf more than anything else. Lycans were rare yet dangerous and frowned upon by the tribes, so I was relieved to have a wolfy side as well, not just a Lycan.
Tired of being an outcast, I hesitated to accept that part of myself until I realized who my wolf was referring to as my mate. I couldn’t discern what he was searching for, but he appeared very upset.
"There should be something if she was in this very room." All I could see was his back, but he seemed so familiar as he rummaged through one bedside drawer after another. "It’s been a while, but no one else has been here since, so whatever it is, it must still be here."
I hoped it was Zion, but it wasn’t him, and for some reason, his presence was tormenting me. Sensing a presence, he questioned, "Who’s there? Gaius? Her mother mentioned there should be something." He turned around, and as soon as our eyes met, something inside me died.
"You!" we both exclaimed simultaneously, his anger mirroring mine, but Sai irritated me the most. ’He’s our mate,’ she said in my mind, fueling my anger.
After enduring everything at his hands, the moon goddess still paired us together, which was far from amusing. ’Then you’re in for a surprise because I will never accept him,’ I declared to Sai, sensing May’s excitement.
"Mate?" Alpha Zach’s anger flared, matching mine. When his hand rose, I knew his intentions and promptly uttered the parting words. "I reject you, Alpha Zach. I despise you," I spat. He was about to respond when a familiar voice interrupted my thoughts. "
"Wake up, Bella."
Zion gently wiped my forehead with a damp cloth as my eyes snapped open. Seeing him, I felt a moment of fear before remembering he was not like his twin brother, and I quickly embraced him.
"Zion, why is the moon goddess so cruel? Please tell me it’s just a dream," I pleaded.
He stiffened slightly under my embrace before relaxing. "Bella, calm down," he said softly, pulling away to look me in the eyes. "Tell me everything that happened."
Taking deep breaths, I regained my composure and my attention turned to Dina. I noticed that my stomach had shrunk in size. "My pup. Dina, where is my pup?"
Memories of the events surrounding my pup flooded back. The pain of my two shifts merging with my labor pains, and the most difficult part, giving birth to my pup in Lycan form before transforming into a wolf.
Oh goddess, I felt so ashamed that Zion had to witness all that, but when I looked into his eyes, they were filled with immense care. "Don’t worry, your pup is fine. If my thoughts are correct, then Zach is indeed your mate, isn’t he?"
His question left me speechless, and Dina’s knowing gaze only added to my confusion.
"How did you know?" I asked, unprepared for the answer. As he sighed, Dina stepped in to explain.
"I had a suspicion, so I suggested using the mark to summon Alpha Zach in your dream. If he wasn’t your mate, it wouldn’t have worked. Judging by the outcome, he seems to be the biological father of your pup."
I felt a wave of weakness wash over me. "What did you say?" I had secretly hoped for a different father for my pup, someone with whom I could connect on a different level. This news shattered my hopes.
"When your pup refused milk, I decided to try carrot juice because of his eyes. They’re so much like mine, and I initially thought he got them from Zach because of the blood transfusion, but..."
"Wait, what blood transfusion?" I asked, feeling lost as his head lowered. "I’m sorry for not telling you, but it was because you wanted nothing to do with him. You lost a lot of blood when he ripped your womb, so we drew his blood through the mark by enchantment," Zion revealed, and my hope died.
For some reason, I felt so entangled with Alpha Zach, and I hated it so much. How could he be the man from that night? "No, he can’t be my pup’s father."
"I’m sorry, Bella, but he is. My mom told me that Zach never fed on breast milk. He always liked carrot juice from the moment he was born."
I was about to counter his words, but then I remembered when it all began...
