Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake -
Chapter 41: Deny it all you want (Alpha Zach)
Chapter 41: Deny it all you want (Alpha Zach)
"Alpha, what’s wrong?" Gaius asked, supporting me before I collapsed into the chair. But soon, it was over, just as it had begun.
It wouldn’t have been like this if he had taken my blood directly instead of stealing it through incantations. Did he want me dead?
So many thoughts raced through my head, and I didn’t know how long it lasted before I fully regained myself. "It’s nothing. I will deal with it later."
The witch and her pup survived. How could she be so lucky all the time? Well, as long as my blood was running through her veins, I would return to finish what I started.
Rising up to go to the silent room, Zion mindlinked me, confirming my suspicions. But why did he have to use the threat of taking his own life to manipulate me again?
With the way he jumped to protect the witch without caring about his own well-being, he might indeed do as he had said. ’Just make sure she never leaves your tribe because as long as I find her away from the confines of your pack, she’s no longer under your protection,’ I warned.
’Good deal,’ Zion agreed, and I wondered how long she would remain within the Luna Echoes tribe.
That bastard will surely join the academy, so either way, she will be compelled to leave the confines of her tribe. Because of her, I will reclaim my position at the training academy as soon as possible.
Iris died, and until now, no one has been able to find her corpse to give her a proper burial. As long as I’m alive, I will avenge her and will not rest until the witch confesses and meets her end at my hands.
The silent room earned its name due to the soundproof system. It was another one of our torture rooms, designed for interrogation and inflicting pain through inhuman means. Reid was chained upside down, surrounded by warriors.
"Alpha, this is a misunderstanding. I’m innocent," he pleaded. I waited for the warriors to leave and the door to close before replying, "I know."
"You do?" Shock was evident in his eyes. "Then why am I here?" he asked. I smiled and sat on the only chair in the torture room.
"You got Kari pregnant and have the audacity to pin it on me?" The color drained from his face, but he quickly regained composure. "Alpha, I don’t know what you’re talking about."
As a dead man, I didn’t want to waste time and energy forcing a confession out of him.
Two are better than one, so my mission was to kill one and leave the other to live with the pain of loss and her own form of agony.
"Deny it all you want, but I didn’t bring you here for stealing my signet ring. I had Gaius plant it there to lure you in for interrogation."
There was no point in hiding the truth from him because he wasn’t going to leave here alive anyway. The pain in his eyes was satisfying as he said, "You could have brought me here without setting me up. Now, everyone will think I tried to usurp your authority."
He understood the trick. "Exactly my point. I don’t want anyone to remember any good in you when you die, including Kari."
He attempted to mindlink her, but I blocked their connection with my Alpha power. "Do you think you can communicate with her from here?"
"Please, just let me go. Kari is my mate," he confessed.
"You should have been honest, and I would have let you have her. I’ve known for some time that she wasn’t the girl who saved me or the one I slept with."
Shock filled his eyes, and I smiled. Perhaps it was time to search for the red-haired girl again. I must find her at all costs.
"I apologize, Alpha, I got carried away, but I also noticed that your interest in her waned after we found her. Everything changed after you returned from pack business to attend the engagement you had us arrange."
He tried to deflect the conversation, but I was prepared. "No, I was very interested in her until after sending the witch away when she started triggering my allergies. Tell me what you both are planning, and I might consider reducing your punishment if you confess."
"No, you would increase the punishment if you knew the truth, but I’m not afraid to die, Alpha Zach. There will always be someone to replace me," he said confidently. I smiled.
Now that I am aware of the scheming in my tribe, I will ensure that every one involved are seriously dealt with.
"Are you referring to the pup in her womb or support from whoever you are working for? I have plans for both of them because I have no intention of killing her anytime soon. Reid, death will come for you for the disrespect you have shown me."
The mate bond is the strongest in all tribes, so even if I were in love with Kari or had accepted her lie about saving me, I would still let her go. In that case, I would compensate her for saving me. Now, they have decided to infiltrate my pack with some secret plan, but they will all pay for it.
"I’m sorry, Alpha. I didn’t mean to. I was just trying to protect her because she pretended to have slept with you," he said, looking remorseful.
Seeing his regret, I seized the opportunity to ask, "Tell me, who was the real girl?"
His expression darkened as he hung upside down from the ceiling, "Alpha, I have no idea who she is, but please let me go."
His response only fueled my anger, and it was time to execute my plan. "Since you won’t talk, I won’t waste my time. I will find out the truth from Kari one way or another." His next revelation left me stunned.
