Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake
Chapter 39: Silent Room (Alpha Zach)

Chapter 39: Silent Room (Alpha Zach)

Betrayal is one thing, but disrespect is the worst. What Gaius is telling me, if true, means that Kari and Reid have committed the most abominable act. Strangely, it doesn’t hurt as much as the disrespect.

When we located the coven, the grand witch confirmed that it was her. At the time, I had Reid and Gaius bring her to the pack, while I visited another.

There was no bond between us, but I thought it was because she didn’t have her wolf or the fact that we were already destined, so what was the need for a bond anyway?

But now, I’m realizing that things were not adding up, starting from our engagement night. Kari lied to me, and now she slept with Reid? Even if they were mates, she had no right to sleep with him when she bore the title of my fiancée.

This singular act is tantamount to death, but Gaius looks like he can uncover more, and I’m interested in knowing what it is. Right now, I can’t keep her in the pack anymore.

As for Reid, he won’t know what hit him. "Are you sure about this? If I find out you lied to me..."

"I can’t deceive you, Alpha. From the moment I was elected as your beta, I was determined to sacrifice my life for you."

Gaius is trustworthy, and so far, there is nothing to make me doubt him. Compared to Reid, Gaius is always serious about her duties, taking the initiative in performing tasks that were not even his responsibility.

"Then do me this favor," I said. He nodded as I whispered the plan to him, but he quickly pulled away. "Alpha, are you sure? If Kari finds out, I won’t be able to gather more information, and we won’t know the people involved with them."

He had a valid point, but I instantly came up with a better one. After explaining it to him, he smiled. "No one will know."

Engulfed in work at the office, a mindlink zaps through me. ’Alpha, it’s done.’

This is how to deal with those who choose to disrespect me. "Good," I replied before initiating a packhouse mindlink. ’Meet me in the living room.’

Everyone was already there, including Gaius. Kari walked to my side, and the sight of her disgusted me.

"Zach, have you thought about it? Our pup must be raised here," she said softly, her eyes red as if she had been crying. Let’s discuss this after we resolve the current issue. My Alpha signet is missing, and you all understand the significance of that."

The expected fear and confusion were evident on their faces. "Alpha, you always keep it in your room," Reid pointed out, and I concurred. "Indeed, so whoever has it must have taken it from my room, indicating an intention to challenge my authority or provoke a conflict."

Kari and the others appeared terrified. "Alpha, we can still search and review the CCTV footage," Reid suggested, and I agreed. "I have already done so, but the person also tampered with the footage."

I instructed Reid and Gaius to search every room and apprehend the thief. They left and returned after nearly an hour. In the meantime, I spoke with Kari.

"There is too much turmoil here. It will not be a safe environment to raise a pup."

Tears welled up in her eyes, but I couldn’t ignore the suspicion of her involvement in the situation.

"Zach..." she reached out to touch me, but I avoided her touch, causing a flicker of disappointment in her eyes. "I love you and I want to stay by your side."

I scoffed internally at her words. Ironically, she must be talking about Reid and not me. "Your welfare and that of the pup should be our main concern as leaders, above our personal desires, don’t you think?"

She quickly nodded her head, as if suddenly remembering something. "You are right. We have to prepare the heir of this pack at all costs, and I don’t want to give birth under wedlock."

If I had my way, I would subject her to the torture of the brazen bull, but as Gaius said, Kari was the only link to whoever was involved with her.

"Well, it was foretold that your presence would bring a lot of things, but none of which have happened," I pointed out, noticing nervousness supplanting her previous fake expression.

Since she was pretending to be the girl who saved me, I figured she had to know what I meant by the events meant to happen, but it seemed she didn’t, and I would be damned before I gave her the details.

About to say something, we were interrupted by a commotion upstairs. "Alpha, I swear, I didn’t put it there," Reid was saying, but Gaius kicked him in the groin, earning a groan from him.

"We searched together, and you were pretending all this while when you had it all along," Gaius pointed out, going by the plan but all he did was continue to pleading. " No, I didn’t, Gaius, you have to believe me," he pleaded. However, Gaius pushed him from the top of the stairs, causing him to roll and hit his head. Kari rushed to his side.

"Reid, what’s going on? Why did you take it?" She grabbed his arm, helping him to his feet. I asked her, "You seem to care so much about him. What’s the secret?"

Watching her sudden interest piqued my curiosity, but Gaius was about to hit Reid again when I lifted my hand to stop him. "I will take it from here. Take him to the silent room."

"No!" Reid and Kari screamed together, catching my attention. "Is there something you want to say?" My question silenced them as Reid begged, "Alpha, please, not the silent room. There must be some kind of mistake."

I didn’t bother to say a word, only giving a nod. The warriors whisked Reid away to the silent room, and I mind-linked Gaius to keep an eye on Kari.

She was shivering as if she was going to die, but just as I took a step, a strange feeling overtook me, and I felt as if my blood was being drained from my body.

Sweat washed over me like rain, and my knees felt weak as I began to realize exactly what was happening to me.
