Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake
Chapter 37: Cursed (Alpha Zach)

Chapter 37: Cursed (Alpha Zach)

Pain was evident in her eyes, and her words carried its weight. "Alpha Zach, I hate you. Because of what you have done, peace will elude you. You will never find happiness. I curse you with the blood of my unborn pup, and if I lose him or her, may you lose everything precious to you," she cursed. I scoffed, unaffected by her words.

What right did she have to curse me after what she did to Iris? It was time to end her, but a sudden blow struck me from behind, causing me to turn around.

It was Zion, who punched me from behind. I retaliated, weakening him temporarily until he struck me again. We got into a fight, and I was determined to knock him out so I could either kill the witch or continue what we had started with the brazen bull.

"Let our Alpha go," a she-wolf demanded, landing a punch on my back. The effects of the serum had worn off, leaving me feeling dizzy and nauseous.

The witch had ripped my shirt, and now, with the serum no longer clouding my judgment, I cared. Being shirtless would only worsen my condition with more physical contact with the opposite sex.

However, I recalled the timing of the crimson moon’s passing, realizing she couldn’t have reached this tribe before its passing. Certainly, the protective wolf was either a rogue or a member of my tribe, and I was determined to find out.

Rushing to the door, I barely made it to the entrance before emptying the contents of my stomach, followed by a shift. I knew I wouldn’t be able to leave in human form without passing out due to my allergic reaction.

The witch had slipped through my fingers once again, but I was certain that she and Zion’s pup had paid for it.

Despite this, I was determined to find a way back to finish what I had started, unless she is moved to the packhouse. With too many warriors present, attacking her at that sacred place would be impossible unless I could take her with me.

Upon reaching my pack, I could sense her through the mark. It seemed that the mark of the protective wolf was now nullified, and unfortunately, I could feel her pain, something I never wanted to experience when it was coming from her.

I regretted marking her, but I was determined to make sure that the protective wolf paid for his actions. First of all, I went to shower after taking an anti-allergy serum to numb the symptoms I was still feeling.

As soon as I felt refreshed after my shower, I called for a meeting with all my warriors and demanded, "There is a protective wolf among us. Own up now, or face the consequences."

They stared at me with a look of confusion and fear in their eyes before one of the warriors spoke up.

"Alpha, how could a protective wolf be among us? It’s impossible."

Indeed, but who marked the witch then? Had I not appeared, his mark would not have made it impossible for me to feel her.

"Yes, Alpha, protective wolves are Lycans and from what I heard, they suffer the effect of the mark if it isn’t on their mate," another person analyzed, which was true.

"Indeed, but you all told me Annabelle was dead. I believed it because I couldn’t track her from the mark I gave her. Now, I found her alive at the Luna Echoes tribe, bearing another mark."

The information silenced all of them, but as I looked around, I couldn’t find my beta and gamma.

"Where are Reid and Gaius? We are going to all shift right now, one by one for me to confirm all your wolves again."

They didn’t look worried and began to shift. Hundreds of warriors and there was no protective wolf among them. And then it hit me. Jack was the witch’s supervisor. He must know something, or could he be the one?

"Bring in all omegas of all ranks. I want to see everybody’s wolf," I announced after they shifted back to human form and put on their clothes.

They left and returned with another hundred warriors, omegas to be precise. Reid, Jack and Gaius came with them.

"Alpha, how did it go?" Reid asked me. I shook my head. "Not well. She’s still alive." I could feel her pain, but it meant nothing to me as I hoped to disconnect permanently from her through death.

"Shift," I ordered. They all did so, but again, there was no protective wolf among them, and my gaze landed on Reid and Gaius. "You two are included."

It was just the breaking of dawn, and most of them had been awakened from sleep, not knowing what was going on, but I refused to relent.

Today, I was determined to confront the protective wolf, if he truly existed. Reid shifted, but it wasn’t him. The fact that I already knew all their wolves didn’t matter.

"Gaius, your turn," I demanded. He stared at me strangely, and the lights flickered off, then back on in an instant. "What just happened?" I asked.

Cluelessness met my question, but my focus shifted to Gaius’s wolf. It was unusual, but not a protective wolf.

So, who could it be then? "Shift back, everyone to your duty posts. Gaius, Reid, and Jack, to my office, now," I instructed. They complied, but Gaius’s voice sounded from behind me, "yes Alpha."

"How did you get there?" I inquired. He smiled, but I sensed his nervousness. "Just now. My shirt tore, so I took an emergency one from the fatuous omegas."

Gaius had been acting strangely since the witch’s concerns arose, but I dismissed it. As I was about to join them in the office, Kari rushed towards me.

When she hooked her arm with mine, I pushed her away. "Next time you bring a potion, make sure to get all the details. The serum only lasted a few hours, and I was nearly killed."

Remorse was evident in her eyes, but I couldn’t care less. The red-haired girl needed to be found at all costs, and I couldn’t let Kari know that I suspected her so I softened my voice. "Kari, I’ve been thinking. You should return to the coven for a while."

The color drained from her face, and her shock mirrored Reid’s. "Zach, why?"

"It’s for your protection. I can’t mark you now until I kill that witch, but she cursed me because I caused her a miscarriage. I don’t want those close to me to be affected."

"Miscarriage? Alpha, what are you talking about?" Gaius asked, his concern raising suspicion.

"You seem very concerned. Is there something you’re not telling me?" About to respond, Kari made an even more heartbreaking revelation.
