Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake -
Chapter 34: The mystery girl (Kari)
Chapter 34: The mystery girl (Kari)
A few weeks ago.
"Do you think the woman Zach slept with was Annabelle?" I asked my mate, Reid. This is a top-secret, and he is my kind, on the same mission.
I couldn’t believe it when the supervisor told me he gave Annabelle those hickeys because she smelled like Zach by then. I never imagined she would be the one, but why was she blonde?
Something didn’t add up because the mystery girl should be out by now, with natural red hair, and we have planted our kind everywhere to eliminate her if she shows up, posing a threat to our kind.
"His reaction when he tried to mark you makes me sense it was her, but she’s dead, so it shouldn’t matter to us," he kissed me on the shoulder, and our bond kicked in.
True. Zach marked her without experiencing the same allergic reaction he had when he marked me. However, the serum we added to his flavors is affecting his ability to think clearly, although it is not working as intended.
Zach has never touched me. The best I got was an embrace and a peck, and after that, he almost puked on me.
"You and I know she isn’t dead, and that is why my mark healed. We have to find her in case she gets pregnant with his pup. We can’t let the prophecy come through," I warned seriously, and his playfulness ceased.
If she bears Zach’s pup, her powers will manifest and we shall be doomed.
"You are right, but I have a plan," Reid informed me. I was eager to know what it was, and after he whispered it, I felt a little fear.
"What if he doesn’t feel a bond?" I asked him. He gave me that signature smile of his. "There are more potions being worked on, and we can get one to fake his bond with your pup." I didn’t want to agree, but he drew my attention to something important.
"Ivy said she was going to work on the anti-allergy serum that will make Alpha Zach tolerable to you. What will happen if he finds out you are still a virgin when you claim to have slept with him?"
The revelation numbed me, making me agree to his plan. Zach must not know who I am, for I was born for this. Coming here was not by accident, though our target was the Luna Echoes pack.
Due to the split, I ended up here, but it’s still fine. This tribe is developing faster than any of the tribes I’ve ever been to or heard of, which makes it perfect.
Only by being Zach’s Luna will I be able to take over all the other tribes before the great awakening, and yet, there was someone in my way.
The moment I saw her, the tacky feeling that she was something bigger than I can imagine gnawed at me, and if care is not taken, then she will destroy our kind.
It hasn’t been easy for us to reach this level, and I was stupid to have brushed my suspicions aside. Annabelle is the one, and that is why she refused for us to get her blood sample.
After all the effort we put into laying her to rest, I was devastated when Ivy confirmed to me recently that she was still alive, just as we suspected. To avoid raising suspicions, I insisted that she send a telegram to Reid, which she did.
Annabelle must not survive as she poses a threat to our kind. Three days ago, Ivy provided me with the potion for my eyes, but I couldn’t risk letting her brother know about her and her sister.
Revealing their existence would lead to destruction for all of us, so we must remain hidden until we fulfill our purpose.
So far, Gaius is the only one unaffected by our powers and refuses any food we offer. Despite our attempts to charm his wolf, we were unsuccessful.
Unfortunately, he is Zach’s right-hand man, making it challenging to undermine him. However, everything will fall into place once we progress to the second stage of our plan.
Zach is a mystery to decipher. The fact that we have not yet mated poses a significant obstacle to our plan, but I am working on it. Once he takes the anti-allergy serum provided by Ivy, he will be able to mark me as his wolf’s sense will be briefly disorganized.
That way, he won’t sense the mysterious girl’s toxic scent when he meets her. Annabelle, this is the day you die by the hand of your fated mate. "The healer gave me an anti-allergy spell to give you," I informed Zach, retrieving the serum from my pocket.
He smiled, a kind I hadn’t seen in a long time. "Thank you." But Gaius was at it again.
"Alpha, it’s my duty to test everything that goes into you. So far, aside from your flavors, nothing else has been approved for you. Please, let’s call the healer to test it."
"Gaius, Zach is my fiancé, so do you think I will give him anything without first having it tested?"
I already caged the wolves of all the healers, so they bow to me. Gaius might be difficult, but in this case, he most probably cannot win against me.
Gaius’s eyes rolled to the back, and I knew he was probably mind-linking the healers to find out. When he was done, his expression turned remorseful. "I’m sorry, but I’m just doing my job. Alpha, the healer said the potion is safe for you to take, but I would like to come with you."
I had a fear that he would ruin things for some reason. Before the mystery girl was placed in the brazen bull, he fought for her and was the first to order her release upon seeing the crimson moon.
"Gaius, you are the strongest after Zach. Who will lead the tribe in your absence?" I inquired, concerned about him accompanying Zach, but Gaius remained adamant. "That’s why Reid is the gamma. This won’t take long anyway."
I needed to separate him from Zach, so I contacted Ivy through a mindlink. By the time Gaius arrived at the gate with Zach and was preparing to shift, chaos erupted in the omega community.
From the third-floor balcony of the pack house, I smiled as I observed Gaius making an excuse. "I’m sorry, Alpha, I can’t accompany you. Let me handle the chaos. Reid, why are you still here? You need to come."
There was something intriguing about Gaius. No one had seen his wolf, and I was eager to discover what he truly was. In due time, I would make him submit to me.
As I watched Zach shift, I raised a glass of wine, confident that the mystery girl would meet her end.
The chaos Ivy had incited had resolved itself once Zach departed, allowing me to rest peacefully. However, I awoke to chaos unfolding in front of the pack house.
Zach had returned, his expression grim. "There is a protective wolf among us. Own up now, or face the consequences."
