Chapter 34: I think I’m going to be sick

He climbed in beside him, pulling Haeun into his arms once again. The room was now dim and quiet, the only sound being their soft breathing. Haeun instinctively moved closer, resting his head on Yeongsoo’s chest as he slept soundly.

Yeongsoo smiled, rubbing Haeun’s belly gently "Kiddo it’s best you take after your papa, if you take after me you won’t have fun and I want you to live a carefree life.."

Yeongsoo thought to himself, his life was very chaotic and he definitely wasn’t going to let any of his children join the mafia.

Haeun woke up the next morning feeling off. He laid on the bed for a few moments, staring at the ceiling, trying to shake off the grogginess. Glancing over, he saw Yeongsoo had already gotten up.

With a reluctant sigh, he pushed himself out of bed and made his way to the bathroom. The harsh morning light felt almost glaring as he splashed cold water on his face. Looking in the mirror, he frowned at his reflection; he looked tired and out of sorts.

After a quick wash, he chose a black turtleneck and cream-colored slacks. The clothes fitted him just fine, but he still felt uncomfortable in his own skin. After combing his hair back, he made his way downstairs.

The smell of something cooking wafted through the air, leading him to the kitchen where Yeongsoo was busy flipping pancakes.

"Morning," Haeun muttered, sinking into a chair at the kitchen table.

"Mhm" Yeongsoo replied, glancing over with a warm smile. "You look a little rough. Everything okay?"

Haeun shrugged, running a hand through his hair. "I don’t know... I woke up feeling like a balloon. Just... annoyed, I guess."

Yeongsoo set a plate of pancakes in front of him, his expression turning concerned. "Annoyed? Is it something I did?"

"No, it’s not you," Haeun said, irritation bubbling up. "It’s just everything. I should be excited about today, but I feel heavy and tired. I just want to stay in bed."

Yeongsoo straightened, crossing his arms. "We don’t have to do anything if you’re not feeling it. It’s okay to take a break."

Haeun sighed, feeling guilty. "I can’t just do nothing. I have to pull myself together. I don’t know why I’m so moody. It’s embarrassing."

"It’s not embarrassing," Yeongsoo said softly, stepping closer. "You’re going through a lot right now. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed."

"Yeah, but I want to be better," Haeun replied, his voice tinged with frustration. "I hate feeling like this."

Yeongsoo smiled gently. "You don’t have to be perfect. Just take it one step at a time. How about we start with breakfast? It might help."

"Okay, breakfast sounds good," Haeun said, trying to sound enthusiastic. He picked up a fork and took a bite of the pancake. The first taste was sweet and buttery, but almost immediately, a wave of nausea hit him.

"Ugh..." he groaned, putting the fork down as his stomach churned. He tried to breathe through the discomfort, but it was no use.

"Are you alright?" Yeongsoo asked, his eyes widening in concern.

Haeun shook his head, the nausea escalating. "I think I’m going to be sick."

Before Yeongsoo could react, Haeun dashed to the bathroom, just making it to the toilet before he heaved. He felt his body convulse, and all the effort he’d put into breakfast came back up.

"Haeun!" Yeongsoo’s voice followed him, panic evident. "I’m coming!"

Haeun barely registered Yeongsoo’s presence as he knelt beside him, holding his hair back. "Just breathe, it’s okay," he said softly, his hand rubbing Haeun’s back gently.

When the wave finally subsided, Haeun leaned back against the cool tile floor, feeling utterly drained. "I’m sorry..." he gasped, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.

"Don’t apologize," Yeongsoo said, his voice steady and comforting. "This is part of it, right? You’re doing great."

"I didn’t think it would hit me like that," Haeun admitted, still feeling shaky.

Yeongsoo smiled softly. "You’re handling it. Let’s just take it easy today. Do you want some water?"

"Yeah, that would help," Haeun replied, his voice a whisper.

Yeongsoo quickly got up, returning a moment later with a glass. Haeun took a sip, grateful for the coolness. "Thanks, Yeongsoo."

"Always," he said, a hint of worry still in his eyes. "How about we just relax for a bit?"

"Sounds good," Haeun said, leaning his head against the wall, feeling a little more grounded.

Haeun sat for a moment, sipping the water and allowing the coolness to settle his stomach. After a few more deep breaths, he began to feel a bit more stable.

"Do you need anything else?" Yeongsoo asked, watching him intently. "Some ginger tea? Or maybe just to rest?"

"I think I just need some time," Haeun replied, rubbing his temples. "Just... let me gather myself first. I really don’t want to spend the whole day in here."

Yeongsoo nodded, his expression softening. "Take all the time you need. I’ll be right here."

After a few minutes, Haeun finally stood up, feeling a little more like himself. "Okay, let’s take it slow today," he said, flushing slightly at the previous episode. "I didn’t mean to ruin breakfast."

"You didn’t ruin anything. I’d rather you take care of yourself," Yeongsoo assured him, helping him to his feet. "Let’s get you settled on the couch. I can bring you some more water and maybe some plain toast. Just something light, how does that sound?."

"Okay.."

Yeongsoo nodded and he lifted Haeun from the ground and carried him to the couch.

Haeun sighed, she had been feeling like shit all morning and now he felt even worse.

"Should we go to the doctor??"

Haeun shook his head, it was just morning sickness nothing serious.

"No, its not that serious. I’ll just have some toasts and rest for a bit. Then we can head to the company.."

Yeongsoo nodded and walked to the kitchen "Well do whatever you want.."

"Then can we give the extra pancakes to the guards outside?"
