Cosmic Paragon -
Chapter 109 - 108: The Sagittarius Constellation!
Chapter 109: Chapter 108: The Sagittarius Constellation!
Drake did not waste any time after exiting the fight with Ryan and immediately sent out more challenges.
His next opponents however, were almost all one hit kills since they were all 2 star mages. He didn’t even need to use ’Infinity’ against any of them.
By the time Drake walked out of the changing room again, Paragon was already very popular and the news about people looking for the true identity of Paragon was everywhere.
There were two more prominent names among them though; Julia Shadow and Ryan Ross.
When Drake heard the second name he recalled his fight with Ryan.
Ryan had reminded Drake of his current greatest weakness. In the Grand mage tournament Drake would be up against not only 2 star mages, but also 3 star mages.
A 3 star mage’s greatest advantage over a 2 star mage lied in the ranged spells they could use. If Drake ever ran into a 3 star mage that focused on ranged spells to attack, Drake would have a very high chance at loosing.
I need to learn how to use long range attacks while I’m operating my magic power, or else it would really be bad. Drake thought.
Drake walked out of the waiting area, down to the reception hall of the Arena. He didn’t really care about the invitations of Julia and Ryan. As far as he was concerned, he had better things to be doing right now than attending to them.
Besides, he didn’t yet want anybody to know that he was Paragon.
Nobody bothered him on his way, considering his weak aura and feeble magic energy fluctuations. No one suspected him to be Paragon, so his exit was unhindered.
Drake looked over at Ruth and saw that she was still attending to customers, so he left without disturbing her.
After leaving the Arena, Drake did not go back to the Obsidian Palace but instead returned directly to Alpha academy.
He walked into one of the academy’s training grounds and chose a bow, and then he picked a quiver of arrows and tried practicing his archery. As he did, he remembered all that he had observed from his fight with Ryan.
Every detail of that battle flashed through his mind and using the Eyes of Order he analyzed the information and tried to incorporate the things he had learned from his observations into his own Archery.
Sure enough, the Eyes of Order was a great help. It allowed Drake to monitor every detail about his own Archery and energy control, and thanks to that Drake made tremendous improvements.
Every time he saw what he was doing wrong, he would correct it. And before long, he was soon capable of shooting while walking.
Actually, Drake could have chosen to simply use throwing knives and daggers as his long range weapon. But the problem was that, if he did use that he would not be able to use all his strength in throwing which means the power behind each thrown weapon would be too weak to penetrate the opponents defense. Then he should just forget about killing them then.
At the same time if he used too much strength with his throws, his aim would be off.
The only way to rectify this problem was by practice. But saying it was much easier than doing it.
As Drake practiced, he attracted the attention of some of the other students in the training grounds. Many just ignored him since they were also busy with their own training, but some still came over to watch and gloat when they saw so many mistakes and the trash Drake kept doing as he practiced.
Drake ignored them of course. If he had the energy to be reacting to their childish provocations, then he might as well put that energy to better use and train more.
Drake improved the more he practiced, and the more he improved the more he shocked his audience.
Be it his accuracy, control or movement speed they were all improving at an alarming rate.
Well, Drake was already a very good marksman before with excellent archery skills. So this was not a very great feat to him. But to the others watching him, Drake’s improvements were monstrous.
Why? At first Drake looked like he had never fired a single arrow in his life and his arrows did not even come close to hitting the target talk less of hitting the bulls-eye. But in what looked like merely a few hours, Drake was already capable of hitting the target. And not only that, but his firing speed had gotten faster.
This feat was utterly shocking. This speed of improvement was beyond scary.
Drake sat on the ground to rest. After training for three hours straight, he was sore and needed some rest. However, he didn’t rest idly but dived into the seal.
The Sea of Stars was before him and he soon arrived at a cluster of stars comprised of stars arranged in a unique formation.
Let’s finish this. Drake said seriously. And the stars began to move slowly.
This was the position of the next constellation that Drake was working on.
The Sagittarius Constellation!
Drake had been arranging this constellation for about a week now and today it would finally be completely formed.
WHOOSH!
The stars flashed with a dazzling beautiful radiance and charm, then the aura surrounding the group of stars gradually changed.
This was the indication that the Sagittarius Constellation was finally complete.
Drake was elated in his heart when he witnessed this.
’Eyes of Order!’
Drake called out. Then stars swirled in his eyes as he stared at the details of the newly formed constellation.
Sagittarius Constellation!
Ability: Accuracy (All my attacks will always hit the target.)
Drake shivered slightly when he saw this special effect.
This... This is a bit too convenient isn’t it? Isn’t this the solution to my current problems? Drake’s voice quivered as he mumbled softly to himself.
All my attacks will always hit their targets.
Actually the Sagittarius constellation was not that useful to 2 star mages unless it was a 3 star or higher level mage, since it did nothing about raising attack power or whatsoever. In fact, it could even be considered useless. But this effect it had, was exactly what Drake needed right now.
Drake had realized that right now his greatest weakness was long ranged attacks, and that was why he has been having so much trouble that he now had to train his archery again. But now that the Sagittarius constellation gave him this ability, didn’t this mean he no longer had to worry about that?
Drake immediately stood up, and raised his bow. He channeled the magic power from the Sagittarius Constellation and infused it into his arrow, as he drew the bow.
In that instant, he suddenly felt as though the arrow had somehow merged with him. Like it was a part of him, and would follow his thoughts. Drake smiled and loosed the arrow.
The arrow flew and Drake felt like it was awaiting orders as it flew towards the direction of the target.
There was a practice target 1000m away from his current position.
Drake’s eyes focused on the targets bulls-eye, and the arrow shot forth and pierced straight into the heart of the target.
Bulls-eye!
There were only a few students left in the training grounds at this time, since the place was already dark.
When they saw that Drake was back to shooting, they shook their heads and turned away with mocking smiles on their lips.
Suddenly, Drake’s figure flashed into motion. It was only for a moment that he looked like he moved, but then he stopped.
Drake had a smile on his face, and he whispered softly. Bulls-eye!
BANG!
Those watching were a bit bewildered why he said that. Suddenly, the next instant a target 1000m away from Drake’s position, exploded causing them to jump in fright. They all looked over and saw that the target had been pierced through at the center. And behind the hole in it, there were about twelve arrows stabbing into the ground.
The students turned back to Drake with puzzled looks.
Then their faces changed when they noticed something.
His quiver... it’s empty! someone said stuttering.
They all remembered very clearly, that Drake’s quiver was still having quite a few arrows in it just a second ago. So how the hell did it get emptied?
Someone’s eyes narrowed and he said solemnly. Twelve arrows, I remember clearly. He had twelve arrows left in his quiver.
Twelve arrows! Hold on, don’t tell me... the students immediately turned back to the obliterated target.
It did not take long for them to understand what had happened. And the thought of it frightened them all.
Somebody muttered in disbelief. Twelve arrows! He fired twelve arrows at a terrifying speed, and they all pierced right through the center of the target. They had all been bulls-eye shots.
But that’s impossible right? He just stopped training a few seconds ago. And he was clearly incapable of hitting the target; ten out of a hundred times. But now, you’re telling me that he can make all 12 shots, and get all bulls-eyes. You’re kidding.
Shit, that’s not just any kind of simple 12 Bulls-eye shots. A young man who had been recording with a video camera exclaimed.
What? a few students beside him turned to him in confusion?
As if he knew they would ask that, he immediately activated a slow motion preview of Drake’s final movements.
All the students watched this slow motion view. And they wee shocked by what they saw.
