Chapter 84: Chapter 84: DAUGHTER-IN-LAW MEETS MOTHER-IN-LAW

In the days which followed, Briar was at ease and spent most of her time either at home or sending the kids to and from school.

Life was very fulfilling and above all, her health was getting better and her hair was growing back. She wasn’t bald like when she was discharged from the hospital.

It was now late October, and on this day, Briar woke up pretty early. She didn’t leave the bed once she was wide awake but took a moment to appreciate the man who was sleeping on the bed soundly with affection in her eyes.

So much had happened between the two of them and she loved the pace at which they were moving.

Knowing that there was still time before Logan woke up, she leaned towards him and pecked his forehead with a smile on her face.

After that, she climbed from the bed, wore her slippers, draped on the morning gown and made her way to the bathroom.

Briar, however, had no clue that Logan, who was supposed to be sleeping, opened his eyes lightly for a moment before closing them, his lips curling upwards.

Briar freshened herself, changed her clothes and left for downstairs.

When she got there, the butler and the other staff were all wide awake and busy preparing for the day.

Briar joined the chefs to prepare a medicinal breakfast. It’s been a while since she prepared one. Besides, she was meeting with Madam Meyer and thought of bringing over a meal box.

Two hours later, Lyra, Cade, and Tiana came downstairs and greeted her cheerfully.

Logan came downstairs shortly after, and the whole family finally gathered.

With everyone around, breakfast was served, and everyone enjoyed the familiar medicinal breakfast without any complaints.

After breakfast, Briar hurried upstairs, where she changed her clothes before rushing downstairs to send off her husband.

After giving him a peck on the cheek and earning a bit of cooing from the kids, Logan left first, leaving Briar with the kids.

With Logan gone, Briar and the kids took the limo to school.

Briar familiarly dropped the three kids at school, before having the car send her to the ancestral home. She was meeting her mother-in-law there. It would be the first time that she was meeting the other without Logan ever since her marriage. She was a bit scared.

On her way to the ancestral home, her brother called, and her nerves were loosened.

[Is everything going well for you there?]

She beamed as she listened to the worried tone of her brother.

"Everything is fine, brother. And yourself? Are you healing well?"

[Hehe, how can I not? My dear sis has found the best for me.]

"That’s good. Recuperate well and if there is any business you want to do. Tell your sis, I will cover you!" she said boastfully, recalling how she was someone with money now.

Her brother laughed heartily on the other side and, hearing his cheerfulness, Briar felt very warm. It was very nice knowing that he was doing well and was no longer pressured by everything.

Life should remain this way. She didn’t regret the choice she made back then.

[Bee, always remember that no matter what happens, brother will always stand by you. I will shoulder everything with you, so don’t suffocate yourself much, okay?]

"You...." Briar choked as she understood the meaning behind those words.

[I will not let anything happen to you!]

She smiled tearfully as she listened to the vows of her brother. He was always like that, and she trusted him. After all, when she was in trouble, he had done it and helped her in crazy ways that no one could imagine.

"I know, brother. Let’s hope it won’t get to that again!"

The siblings chatted for a while before ending the call. Briar had arrived at the ancestral home, so chatting was no longer an option.

She took several deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. She couldn’t let her mother-in-law see her with reddened eyes like that.

After a short drive, the limo stopped in front of the mansion. Briar alighted from the limo with a smile plastered on her face.

She carried out the food bag she brought with her and walked towards the mansion with her head held high.

The butler who informed her that her mother-in-law was upstairs welcomed her but would be coming down anytime soon.

She gave the food bag over to the butler, who went to deal with it.

Briar found a sofa to sit on as she waited for Madam Meyer to arrive.

While she waited, she sent teasing messages to Logan. The days of being sick had increased her courage. She now dares to do things she couldn’t do before. And life was simply beautiful.

In the middle of teasing Logan, who was supposed to be having a meeting in a few minutes, Madam Meyer appeared, and that was the scene she came across.

Briar’s face lit up; her eyes were full of love as she typed something on her phone.

She didn’t know who Briar was talking to and what she was writing, but she could guess. No one was capable of making Briar smile like that except for her son.

She felt her chest swell with pride at the thought of that.

"Ahem," she suddenly cleared her throat as she walked towards Briar, attracting her attention. If she didn’t do so, who knows when Briar would stop flirting?

Surely, upon hearing that, Briar stiffened as a wry smile appeared on her face thinking to herself, ’I am doomed!’

How could she be so lax and end up getting caught in such a state when she was supposed to be vigilant and leave a good impression on her mother-in-law?

However, she wasn’t one to give up easily as a respectful smile blossomed on her face as she stood up, her stature oozing with humbleness. Once she was faced with Madam Meyer, she respectfully called out to her in a soft voice, "Good morning, mother!" skipping from calling the other Madam and Auntie but going all the way to the best choice.
