Chapter 85: Chapter 85: DAUGHTER-IN-LAW MEETS MOTHER-IN-LAW 2

Madam Meyer nearly choked when she heard that. She wasn’t expecting Briar to call her like that, so it took her by surprise. However, she gathered herself as a smile appeared on her face, happiness filling her.

Mother sounded pretty good than other titles. At least, this showed that the girl had accepted their family. She wasn’t treating her as a stranger.

"Hello, Briar. Are you feeling better?" Madam Meyer asked as she walked towards Briar.

Briar nodded smilingly, her front teeth getting exposed as she responded, "I am much better, Mother. Thank you for worrying." Her demeanor made Madam Meyer chuckle.

"That’s good then."

"Mother, I have brought you some medicinal food. You can have it with father later. You can just reheat it." Seeing Madam Meyer in a good mood, Briar couldn’t help but inform the other of the small gift she had brought.

Madam Meyer’s eyes lit up when she heard that. She had missed eating Briar’s medicinal meals. They were very good for the body. After she got sick, they couldn’t eat a single meal which she found a pity. Fortunately, they were back now.

Madam Meyer took Briar’s hands in hers and felt her heart ache when she felt the calluses on those hands. Despite living in luxury, this girl’s hands were like this. An action needed to be taken soon and starting today wouldn’t be so bad.

"Child, thank you!" she could only say. After all, there were so many things that she was grateful towards and yet couldn’t speak out.

Briar didn’t care what she was being thanked for again. However, she liked it. As long as Madam Meyer remained like that, then her position in the family would never shake. It was that stability that she needed.

Of course, she still needed to tackle Logan. Even until now, being married for nearly two months, the two hadn’t consummated the marriage. How was she supposed to make that final move?

The kind that would set her for life.

Anyway, one step at a time didn’t seem to be bad. She would deal with it when it came.

After a moment of affection, the mother- and daughter-in-law pair finally left the mansion.

On the way to the mall, Madam Meyer was being an adult and talking with Briar as a mother-in-law.

"Briar, Logan told me everything about your marriage. I won’t interfere in your marriage. Whether you want to end it when the contract expires or become a real couple. You are both adults, so deal with it as you see fit. As long as none of you get hurt," she said seriously.

Madam Meyer knew that Briar didn’t know what Logan was planning, despite knowing Briar’s true feelings for Logan.

Interfering with children’s marriages can be both good and bad. Logan was forty and Briar twenty-five, making her an adult. Since she was able to raise their three grandchildren so well, she trusted that Briar’s thinking capacity was great to know what she wanted in the future.

Although she believed that it was just a matter of time before the two became real, it was still best to leave it to the both of them. She didn’t want to appear as an evil mother-in-law who wanted to control her son and suppress the daughter-in-law.

She didn’t have such luxury. She would rather spend more time with her husband than interfere in other people’s business, even if that other person was her child.

Briar was happy to hear that.

"However, my concern with you at the moment which I believe has been rectified, was the matter of how you will conduct yourself in public. I will be taking you to banquets starting this week. I will let the whole city and upper class know that the Meyers has a daughter-in-law. And I expect you to not lose face for our family.

Whatever you do outside once everyone knows of your identity will affect Logan, and the company."

Briar nodded seriously, as this matter was also on her mind before the etiquette matron was brought over. However, after taking the lessons for a month, she was very confident in herself. She wasn’t going to lose anyone’s face, even if that face was hers.

Seeing her seriously listening and paying attention, Madam Meyer loved Briar more. Unlike Selena,

On the way, Briar received several tips from Madam Meyer, and she was forever grateful.

The reason for this outing was to buy several clothes, though she had some at home she had never worn.

However, when they arrived at the mall, the program changed as she found herself lying on the massage table getting a massage.

That wasn’t in the plan at all, and yet there she was.

Since she was there already, why fight?

Besides, she had never gotten a massage like that before. So why make things difficult?

After the full body massage, Briar received a full treatment package. She got her facial done, and her nails and even her hair weren’t spared.

As a result, no shopping was done. However, the day was fulfilling.

The next day, Briar was with her mother-in-law again, and this time, she went to get some wax done. It was painful as heck, however, for the sake of looking clear and tidy for her man, she endured.

After the body wax, she finally went shopping. In the boutique picked, all she needed to do was nod her head when she liked an outfit. If she didn’t like it, then it would be put on the side.

However, for other outfits, her mother-in-law would give her lengthy lectures until she understood what was happening.

It was a gruesome and fascinating three days she spent with her mother-in-law. She learnt so much from her. It was more practical than theory. She watched how she handled the people she talked with and how, without putting too much effort; she exuded that noble aura.

Most importantly, she and her mother-in-law got closer to each other. They were like a pair of mother and daughter.

What more benefits would she need again?
