Chapter 71: Chapter 71: TREATMENT AND RECUPERATION 2

An hour later, Briar was lying on the bed, connected to several machines, and the vital monitor screen showed that her heart was steady despite being unconscious.

Logan was pretty nervous to be honest, however for the sake of his family, he needed to do this even if it would bring some harm to Briar in the process.

"Logan, be at ease. She will be fine," Simon, the doctor in charge of this procedure, said in comfort, seeing how nervous he was.

Logan looked at his friend, his expression a bit gloomy, but didn’t say a word.

Simon didn’t ask anything as well, but merely instructed, "Remember what we talked about. We must not spook her or let her even have the suspicion that something is happening!" his tone was very solemn.

Logan nodded. He had gone through the process several times. So, he knew what to do.

Simon, seeing that his friend understood, sat down on the chair he had prepared earlier and started the procedure.

Meanwhile, in a beautiful green valley, a young girl sat on the grass, a stick in her mouth as she chewed it playfully while gazing at the beautiful scenery.

Sitting next to her was a young man, busy weaving a small basket with a smile on his face.

"Little sister, what do you plan to do with your life?"

The little girl turned her head to look at her brother and smiled brightly as she answered, "I want to live well. Marry a nice and good husband. Have our family and just live peacefully. Brother, do you think that’s possible?"

The brother smiled at the little girl and nodded. "Everything is possible. You are my sister, so whatever you want, you will get it!"

Upon hearing that, the little girl beamed as she exclaimed, "Can that really happen?"

"Of course, it will happen. Don’t you trust your brother?"

The little girl grinned happily as she looked at him before her expression became downcast as she looked to the front, shying away from the brother’s gaze.

The brother, seeing that, looked at her with worry and asked, "Little sister, what’s wrong? Did I upset you?"

The little girl shook her head, looking dejected, and said, "It would be nice if reality was like this!"

When the brother heard that, his hands trembled for a moment before he asked warily, "What do you mean, little sister?’

The little girl turned to look at him with a faint smile on her face and answered, "I know that this is a dream. In real life, there isn’t such a beautiful valley like this. That place is full of mountains, rocks and nothing good there," her tone a bit heavy as she thought of her home.

The brother, seeing that he was caught, placed the basket down, as he asked, "Then do you like this dream?"

The girl grinned, though gloominess could be seen in her eyes, and nodded while responding, "Um. I like it. At least here, I don’t have to think too much or be wary of what I know," a mysterious glint flashing in her eyes.

"Oh! You are a girl with secrets?" the brother asked, sounding very interested. He didn’t bother to hide it.

The little girl grinned, raising her chin proudly as if boasting, and replied, "Yes. I know a lot of them. Do you want to hear?"

"Hehe, aren’t you afraid that after sharing with me, I might expose them?"

"Hehe, since you are a figment of my imagination, how could that be? I am someone who would never spill a secret, no matter what."

"Then why do you want to tell me?" the brother asked, his tone full of puzzle.

The girl, upon seeing that, burst into hearty laughter, finding this brother to be a bit conflicting. Wasn’t the one who wanted to hear a secret?

Now that she wanted to tell him, he was going back on his words. Was he a coward?

Seeing the girl laughing, the brother scratched his nose embarrassingly, and the girl chuckled even more.

After laughing her heart out, the girl calmed herself and said, "Since you are an imagination. Why should I fear this getting exposed? Besides, by telling you, I also hope that I will forget the things that I know."

"You want to forget? But why?"

The girl sighed dejectedly as she looked at the brother with a gaze that spoke volumes, and asked, "How can you understand the burden of a mere mortal knowing so many things?"

"You don’t want to use them?"

"What do I benefit from using them?"

’Money or fame?"

"Puuu~ I am not such an ungrateful person. I know who is good to me and who isn’t. If I try to use such secrets, won’t I destroy the people that I love and who love me?"

"What if they don’t feel the same for you?"

"It’s still fine. At least in my heart, I will know that I have been a good girl. Seeing them happy will be compensation for me," the girl shrugged nonchalantly and didn’t show any excessive behavior.

The brother, hearing that, sighed with relief before asking, "Since you want to forget. How about sharing with me what you know? That way, you can reduce the burden on your shoulders!"

When the girl heard that, she looked at the brother with a deep gaze, making him sweat buckets. He didn’t know what she was thinking about, however after a while, she looked away, sighing.

Thinking that she might change her mind, the girl suddenly opened her mouth and asked, "Brother, if I tell you this, you will not share this with someone else, right?"

The brother, seeing that she was about to spill the beans, swore as he raised his fingers. "I won’t share it with anyone else. You need to trust me."

The girl asked again, "After telling you. You promise to erase these secrets from my head, right?"

"If that’s what you want."

The girl nodded, her expression serious as she said, "I just want to live a good life with him and them. I don’t want to live with a fear that one day I might spill what I shouldn’t and get them in trouble."

The brother looked at her with an affectionate gaze for a moment before asking, "Do you love those people?"

The little girl looked at the brother and rolled her eyes as if condemning the other for asking the obvious.

Nonetheless, she still responded, her tone very firm as she said, "They are my whole world!"
