Contractually Yours: The Billionaire's Unlikely Bride -
Chapter 72: TREATMENT 3
Chapter 72: Chapter 72: TREATMENT 3
Logan’s eyes flickered as she listened to the woman lying on the bed answering his questions.
They always say that when someone is unconscious, they tend to be truthful and it seems that it is the truth.
"Will you do anything to keep them?" Logan asked, his eyes darkening at the thought of her doing something bad.
"Ah! What do you mean?" Briar answered, confusingly.
"Like hurting them or lying to them. Make use of what you know to hurt them!"
"How dare you think of me like that? Don’t you know that forced melons aren’t sweet?" suddenly Briar exploded in an outburst, startling both Logan and Simon, who were monitoring her.
Simon looked at Logan and mouthed, ’Don’t provoke her. Let us get it over with before she notices.’
Logan nodded in understanding. He realized that his question wasn’t a good one. At least the response was good. Although he couldn’t ask further, he could tell that she wasn’t someone who would cause any harm to his family.
Her love for the Meyers was so deep that she wouldn’t allow such a thing. It made him feel relieved.
"I am sorry. I was just _"
"Don’t insinuate something like that again. Just because I love them doesn’t mean that I will force them. I would rather watch from the background than hurt them. Why should I hurt my family?"
"This_"
"Just because my family hurt me, used me, sold me and didn’t care for me a single bit doesn’t mean that I will be an ungrateful person to them. My love for them is forbidden, and it might even repulse them if they were to know. That’s why I will keep on hiding it. I would rather pretend that it’s not there than force them to reciprocate."
"You really care so much about them?"
"Um. I do. Like I said, they are my whole world." There was a hint of pride in that tone. Seeing that, Logan couldn’t help but smile.
He had gathered enough. There was no need to continue anymore.
"That’s good. Since it’s like that, let this brother help you erase those secrets like you want."
"Thank you, brother. Because of you, I can sleep peacefully, but before we do that. Let me share what I know."
"That will be very kind of you."
"Hehe. Since you are doing this for me, then I can only do this as well. Besides, if I don’t do this, how will you know what to erase?" she asked amusingly, making Logan and Simon feel at a loss.
It was the first time that Simon was seeing such a cooperative patient. It made him wonder just how desperate she was in her mind to get rid of the secrets that she knew.
Logan didn’t reject her offer but urged her to spill. After all, he was very curious about the things that Selena did behind his back in the years that Briar joined the family.
However, if he had known what awaited him, he wouldn’t have been curious in the first place. As the more Briar spilt, the darker his face became.
The things that he was hearing quite shocked even Simon, who had known Logan since they were kids.
If it wasn’t for him operating the machines and being certain that she wasn’t awake but in her unconscious state, he might have thought that Briar was doing this to spite his friend.
The secrets were simply too shocking. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for his friend.
However, as more secrets kept on coming out, his face became darker as well.
After all, who would have thought that she would utter even his name, alongside a few names he and Logan knew on this day?
The two men were solemn, angry, and infuriated, but there was nothing that they could do.
They could only let her vent out everything, expose everything. Only that way could they suggest she forget everything.
Surely after spilling everything, Briar’s tone sounded much better.
"Brother, I feel very light now. It’s like the mountain I have been carrying all these years has finally been uprooted. Haha, you are a lifesaver!" Briar happily praised Logan, the brother she was seeing in her dreamscape.
Logan, who just wanted to dig Selena’s grave and humiliate her, could only clench and unclench his fist as he responded, ’As long as little sister is happy. I am also happy."
"Hehe, that’s good. Since I have offloaded everything, I am feeling tired. I need to rest. My family would be waiting for me," she said with her voice faltering.
Upon hearing that, Simon nodded at Logan, who understood the mission. He softly said, "Before you sleep, sister. How about you meet a friend of mine? He will help you forget everything."
"Is that true?"
"I don’t lie."
"That’s good. That’s good!"
After that, the procedure lasted for ten minutes or so before Simon heaved a sigh of relief.
"It’s done!" he said reassuringly, with a smile on his face.
Logan, hearing that, chuckled faintly as he wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"That was tough."
"At least it’s done."
"I am glad as well. Who would have known?" he gritted his teeth as he recalled what he had just learnt.
Simon was the same as well.
He was glad that he got to attend to his friend’s wife. Otherwise, how could he have learnt so much?
People shouldn’t be underestimated. He realized it the hard way.
With the treatment done, Simon told Logan a few precautions to be aware of, and Logan accepted everything.
The machines were disconnected and Briar was taken out of the room to be placed in a private ward.
Briar was still asleep with the possibility of waking up in an hour or so, and that gave the friends ample time to discuss what they had just uncovered.
After all, it was something so simple to be ignored.
It was so serious that if they weren’t in the know, everything that they had worked hard for would be destroyed with a flick of a finger.
They didn’t dare be reckless.
