Chapter 59: Chapter 59: UNEXPLAINABLE

Logan rushed to the hospital as fast as he could.

When he arrived, he headed straight to the doctor’s office instead of the ward.

He wanted to see Briar after making sure that everything was fine.

He was afraid that if he started with her, he might be unable to leave her side.

Once he was inside the doctor’s office, the two of them faced each other.

"Mr. Meyer, we have done all the tests we could on your wife. And I can assure you that she is doing pretty much fine. If possible, she could be discharged even today," with helplessness in his voice, the doctor told Logan truthfully.

He was in a helpless situation. To think that a person who was unconscious even if it was for eight to nine days could wake up and the body would just show that everything was fine.

It was as if she was just sleeping deeply and now that she was awake, everything was back to normal.

Logan was skeptical when she heard that.

"Doctor, you know that my wife hit her head and lost a lot of blood, right?" he couldn’t help but remind the doctor.

Briar lost a lot of blood and had to be in the theatre for more than an hour and got stitches on her head. How come such a person was fine?

The doctor exhaled a deep breath, seeing that the husband was even in denial, just like him.

"I am afraid that whatever is happening to your wife, it’s something that we can’t even explain."

When Logan heard that, his eyes narrowed murderously as he looked at the man. If there was something strange about his wife, then ....

"Who knows about this?" Logan icily asked, his mind already doing the mathematics.

The doctor was not a fool. Once the results came out, he didn’t dare show a lot of people. Mrs. Meyer wasn’t an ordinary patient. If the medical reports leak, who would save his head?

"Just me and Dr. Bertha. She helped to operate madam when she was sent here," the doctor truthfully responded.

When Logan heard that, the first thing that came to mind was the other doctor. He recalled the day of the surgery and a familiar face emerged in his mind.

He remembered the doctor that was being talked about. If he wasn’t mistaken, she was at his birthday banquet as well. He heard his mother talking about that name.

If it was her, then it was fine. After all, as someone who helped to pull his wife out of the jaws of death, then it wasn’t problematic.

"Make sure that it stays that way. In fact, it would be better if such records didn’t exist at all," Logan said, his voice solemn as he rose to his feet. The deadly aura he was emitting was quite chilly. It sent shivers down the doctor’s spine.

The doctor, hearing that, knew what was good for him and hurriedly promised.

Logan didn’t know if the doctor would do as promised, but he knew one thing. If those reports get leaked one day, he was going to erase the doctor’s family from the face of the world.

The doctor only heaved a sigh of relief after Logan left the office.

As soon as the door closed, he took out the report copies and did as he promised. Getting rid of them without delay.

Although the other person didn’t point a gun at his head. That statement was threatening enough. Besides, it wasn’t like he didn’t know who Mr. Meyer was. The more he acted very cool, the more deadly he would be.

It wasn’t wise to provoke such a man.

After leaving the doctor’s office, believing that the doctor would know what to do, Logan rushed to the ward to see his wife.

When he arrived, he stopped by the door for a long time, not knowing what to do.

What was he going to say to her?

Would she know that they were eavesdropping that day and that he didn’t rush to stop her from trying to kill herself because he was suspicious?

Would her feelings change after waking up?

What if she had amnesia and suddenly doesn’t remember?

He was nervous as he stood there.

However, the more he stood there, the more he chided himself.

It wasn’t like anything would change just because he was scared of entering the ward. Rather than thinking such pessimistic thoughts, why not think something optimistic?

Maybe she was nervous and scared, waiting for him. She was someone who nearly met her makers, after all.

Thinking about all the things that he was sorry for towards her, Logan no longer hesitated and determinedly opened the door and pushed it open.

***

Lying on the bed, daydreaming was Briar.

She had heard him approaching her ward, but it’s been ages since he didn’t come in.

Did he change his mind?

Was he angry at her?

Could it be that he was convinced that she was the one who made Selena die?

Could it be that Alice won and she lost?

Did he no longer trust her?

After entering the door, would he slap her with a divorce and perhaps make her pay for the breach of contract?

What must she do once he decides to enter through those days?

Suddenly, she started regretting being impulsive. If she had chosen a different method, maybe she wouldn’t be thinking hard like she was now.

Unbeknownst to her, she won the second she made such a drastic move. Unfortunately, since she couldn’t hear what her visitors talked about during her comma, she was worried sick like that.

Creak.

While lost in her thoughts, the door creaked, startling her out of her thoughts.

She looked nervously towards the door that was opening and when the person appeared, all worry suddenly vanished completely, as tears pooled in her eyes without warning.

Like a damn that got instantly filled with water due to a flash flood, Briar found herself shedding tears as she looked at Logan guiltily and apologetically.

She felt sorry for causing such a mess. She was so impulsive and did that just a few days before his birthday banquet. Her actions might have caused so much harm to him and the family.

She felt guilty because she had been lying and hiding so much from him. She had used him so many times and yet pretended to be an innocent party.

If he were to know one day, the kind of person that she was.

Would he ....?
