Chapter 212: Chapter 212: RAINE’S ENDING

In the days that followed, Raine finally experienced what it was like being powerless. If she had known, she wouldn’t have let emotions control her at all but be rational. At least, she would have found a better way to deal with Briar instead of the one she picked.

Because of the confession she made, she was brought to the court very fast. She didn’t know that people could be convicted that quickly.

With all the evidence laid out bare in front of the judge, including how Raine shamelessly forged crimes against Briar and the matter of the deceased, Moses was even brought up. The prosecution came very much prepared, and Raine was literally shocked at how fast everything was moving.

She didn’t know how all those recordings ended up being proved to be fake but seeing the evidence being laid bare in the open, and how Tiana’s DNA results even came out positive which wasn’t what she saw last time, she knew that she was doomed to get a bad result.

Accompanied by the recording surrendered by the witness she didn’t even know was there during her altercation with Briar on that day as well as her vivid description of what truly transpired while ignoring all events where Briar continuously mocked and provoked her, Raine felt like a joke as she sat in the court.

After two days of being brought to the court, she was sentenced to life in prison for several charges, which included spreading false information, colluding with a criminal, blackmailing, first-degree attempted murder, stalking and several other charges.

Since she had a previous diagnosis of going insane, instead of serving that sentence in prison, the court kindly transferred her to an asylum where she would be treated. If she gets better, she will be transferred to the maximum prison.

When all that happened, her family was nowhere to be seen. Apparently from the kind police officer who always made sure that she coughed a fit of blood every night, they were busy fighting for their lives, trying to save the company that was going down the drain.

Not only was the company suffering, but several crimes which she even thought wouldn’t be unearthed were all resurfacing.

She was certain that before two weeks came to an end, everyone in her family would be behind bars. And the thought that it was her who caused her family to suffer like that, Raine regretted it so much, but it was too late to turn back time.

However, when she thought about how Briar hadn’t awakened yet, she felt a sense of compensation.

She just prayed that Briar die. Only then would this injustice she was suffering be repaid.

Raine was sent to the psychiatric hospital where anything that might be used to harm herself was taken away. Living with crazy people wasn’t easy, and she was forced to take medicine even when she knew that she was fine in the head.

The doctor in charge of her was truly bribed, and he was crazy as hell. He looked kind on the surface and yet his tortuous means made her wish she had been sent to the prison instead.

Every single day there was news about her family, and it was very detailed.

After a week in that hospital, she finally received the news of the company going bankrupt and the assets taken over by the bank which wanted to reclaim what they had lost.

After that, every single day, news of one of her family members getting arrested for a certain crime was reported. It took just five days before everyone was locked away, with their news being the hot topic online.

Who would have known that her family was so capable of committing so many crimes like that? Murder, embezzlement, human trafficking, drug possession, evasion of tax and many others.

She didn’t even know if they were truly committed by them or if they were getting framed. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a say. She could only suffer behind those white walls, which were driving her crazy with each passing second.

However, there was one piece of good news which made her remain strong. Briar hadn’t woken up yet. It’s been nearly three weeks and yet there wasn’t any news. At the thought of her meeting her demise, Raine didn’t feel that this kind of suffering wasn’t worth it.

Her family’s life in exchange for Briar was worth it. That crazy person didn’t deserve to remain alive. Who knows how many people she would torture?

If only Logan and his family realized how crazy Briar was and how much she deserved to be stuck in this place and not her. Unfortunately, Briar was simply a qualified green tea bitch and white lotus.

If only she had known about that side of Briar before boarding the plane, perhaps everything would still be fine.

Meanwhile, on Logan’s side, he was truly worried. It’s been nearly three weeks, and Briar wasn’t showing any signs of waking up no matter what the doctors do.

Sitting inside the private ward, Logan looked at his three children, who unfortunately learnt of Briar’s matter the next day. He received a call from the hospital, informing him that his children had visited Briar. When he got there, he didn’t know what to say.

Apparently, nothing could be hidden from them at all. They knew everything. Who did it to her and how did they lose a younger sibling?

The kids weren’t themselves in the earlier days after Briar was hospitalized.

After she was in the clear and sent to a private ward, the kids finally could spend some time with Briar even though the other party couldn’t talk to them.

Thankfully, the matter of Raine being punished brought some relief to the family.

The kids followed the news diligently and even urged Logan to deal with any other butterflies which might still be hovering.

As a result, during the days when Raine was getting her retribution, the whole city learnt of the matter and those with silly schemes curbed their appetite. They didn’t want to suffer a downfall just because of a man.

Bertha was pretty much satisfied with that and no longer made things difficult for Logan, which put him at ease after so many days of being tortured by words.

He never thought that such a professional doctor would have such a mouth. However, he was also relieved, knowing that Bertha’s love and friendship with his wife were genuine.

Bertha became one of the few friends that he didn’t mind his wife having.

During the time she was hospitalized, her few friends also visited, as well as those who wanted to take advantage, but all those were kicked out.

However, that was something of the past, the current problem was waking Briar up, which was proving to be difficult.

However, as he was worried about that, his phone started ringing and looking at the caller ID, he saw an unknown number. For a moment, he wanted to ignore the call, but something in him urged him to pick it up.

And when he did, a glimmer of hope finally flickered in his eyes.
