"I was diagnosed with OLD (obsessive love disorder) when I went there. The psychiatrist told me that this OLD thing meant that I was so excessively preoccupied with Dave that I ended up having unhealthy and obsessive thoughts about him. Getting jealous, possessive and monitoring him constantly. Those were the bad signs that I was already having."

Listening to that, Briar couldn’t help but shudder as she thought she should be having such a disorder as well. Her life was all about Logan and his family. Thankfully, in the end, before she could do anything overly extreme and get caught, she still caught Logan and made him hers.

"My psychiatrist provided me with several options to treat OLD and one of them was to cut off contact. I couldn’t go anywhere near those two in the years I divorced. I also kept myself busy, worked my ass off to forget them.

She, for one, didn’t even need the cure. Having them by her side was the greatest medicine anyone would give her.

"Now that I am back, I want them back so desperately. At the same time, I really can’t tell Dave about my illness. What if he gets repelled by that and considers me crazy?"

"I just love him so much, Briar, and hope that he can give me a chance. I know that I am not perfect, but for him and my daughter, I will do my best. I just want us to love like a family, you know!" Chloe’s voice sounded pleading and Briar felt pity for the other.

She could see the other in her shoes, and it didn’t look good.

Briar propped her elbows on the table and clasped her hands together as she looked at Chloe before suddenly looking serious.

"Chloe, this path is lonely. Isn’t it?"

Chloe hurriedly nodded her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. Only a bird of the same feather could understand her. Chloe felt liberated somehow as she sat there.

"Indeed, it’s lonely and tiresome, but what can we do? Which is why, instead of exposing your emotions on the sleeve and openly like that, you need to learn restraint," Briar began to advise Chloe seriously as she shared the concepts she used in the past.
