Contractually Yours: The Billionaire's Unlikely Bride -
Chapter 198: BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Chapter 198: Chapter 198: BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Time quickly flew by and days passed after that fateful day, and life at the mansion was very good.
Briar once again fell into the same routine of waking up early every morning after being tortured passionately by Logan, glowing like a newly married wife.
After that, she would cheerfully help to prepare lunchboxes for the three children, have breakfast with the whole family, and send the children to school like she used to do before.
After returning and going back into the school routine, Briar found herself meeting with Chloe, Dave’s ex-wife, who once accused her of seducing her man when she hadn’t done anything.
The last time they met, Chloe promised to share her story with Briar, but due to certain circumstances, they ended up not doing so.
Meeting once again, Briar’s curiosity was piqued, so she decided to have an outing with Chloe and let the crazy person vent her feelings before she went even crazier.
So that weekend, on a Saturday, Briar gave herself a day off with the kids and let them go out on their own to have fun with their friends. Bodyguards were protecting them, so she didn’t need to worry about them at all.
The kids were pretty much understanding. Besides, Logan also gave them a lot of allowance money. They were quite eager to go and show off.
With the kids gone their way, Briar also went to meet with Chloe and the two of them met at a quiet and secluded café in a friendly neighborhood.
When the two finally met, they ordered some drinks and snacks before starting to chat.
Briar came prepared to eat a lot of melons. Her eyes were shining as she looked at Chloe.
"Have you ever loved someone so badly that you start going crazy?" Chloe asked with gritted teeth, her fists clenched, nails digging her palms and drawing blood as she looked at Briar with flickering madness.
Briar’s lips curled upward when she heard that question. She even leaned backwards, looking laid back and a similar madness appeared in her eyes, startling Chloe, who wasn’t expecting to see something like that from Briar.
"You ....." Chloe was at a loss for words when she saw Briar’s gaze.
How could it ...?
But then Briar opened her mouth and calmly responded, "Aren’t we all crazy?" a sinister smile blossoming on her face.
Upon hearing that, Chloe, who was afraid of being labeled crazy by this gentle-looking lady, suddenly burst into a laughing fit, tears streaming down her cheeks.
If she had known that this person was a bit crazy in her head a long time ago, instead of being suspicious about her, she might have as well just befriended the other.
Looking at the sinister smile on Briar’s face, and then thinking about how Briar once said that she was married, it suddenly dawned on her.
But how did she do it?
Suddenly, Chloe was curious and couldn’t help but ask, "Briar, you .... How did you do it?"
Briar’s expression returned to normal as she picked up a glass of juice and answered, "How about you tell me your story first? I am here for you, remember?"
When Briar said that, Chloe gathered herself, recalling how this topic even started. Indeed, she shouldn’t be too hasty. She needed to share her story with Briar and be honest about it. Perhaps Briar would give her great advice and help her with her situation.
With that thought in mind, she started narrating her story.
Chloe indeed loved Dave with all her heart, although she mercilessly divorced him years ago and left him plus the child without turning back. But no one knew how much trouble she was when she did so.
"Briar, my condition was getting worse. Every time I saw him laughing and smiling at his coworkers, all I wanted to do was find those hussies and strangle them. I didn’t like it when they smiled at him or he did so to them.
I understood and knew that there was no way that he would cheat on me or be with others. But something inside me was always overthinking. I was always too suspicious and uneasy.
It became so serious that every time I watched Kelly playing with her father, I ....." Chloe stopped midway, her eyes reddening as she thought of how bad it was back then.
Briar, listening to that, straightened her back as she thought to herself, ’This one must be crazier than me!’ although they seemed to be birds of the same feathers, she had never felt jealous when the kids were with Logan.
The only person in that house who used to bother her was Selena, especially when she found out that the other was cheating on Logan. As for the children, why bother?
However, Chloe’s condition was truly troublesome. It was a good thing that she divorced Dave otherwise, she might have become a serial murderer by then.
"I knew that my thoughts were very wrong and there was something wrong with me. So, I thought hard about it and the only solution I could think of around that time was to get away from them.
At least in my mind when I divorced Dave, I thought that as long as I go far away from him, it would get better.
If I separated, my heart would remain unsettled. If I continued seeing my daughter, the thoughts would surface. So, I resolutely left in the end."
Briar sighed as she listened to that. Pity in her eyes as she felt sorry for Chloe. She had truly had it bad. It is only at times like these that one would realize that the problems you are facing are lighter than other people out there.
"So, what happened after you divorced him? What steps did you take to get better? From what you are saying, I can tell that you still love Dave and Kelly a lot!" Briar asked seriously as she looked at Chloe, whose eyes were blazing red with tears pooling around her eyes already.
Drip. Drop.
The tears finally fell, but Chloe didn’t utter any crying sound. She took a deep breath first before answering, "I went to find a psychiatrist. I needed help, and I believed that I would get it once I got there."
"And then?"
