Chapter 175: Chapter 175: GOING BACK HOME 2
Logan left the airport after Briar checked in. He couldn’t wait for her to board since he had a meeting to attend to. As a result, he left first.
Thankfully, thirty minutes later, Briar boarded the plane and was finally on her way.
From Stardale city to Ascot city with an airport, it took the plane over an hour and, including the procedures at the airport, she took almost three hours in total.
It was before noon when she got to that city. Once she was there, she called her brother and informed him that she had arrived. Her brother was living in Ascot City, making it easy to meet.
She didn’t forget to call her husband and gave him the details as she rented a car to use during that period.
She also sent the kids messages, telling them that she arrived and so forth before getting the off-road car suitable to drive even in the village.
After signing for the car, Briar drove the car away from the airport and headed for the place where she was going to meet with her brother.
If time had permitted, Briar would have wanted to go to see where her brother lived, but the fact that she was needed in the village that night, he could only wait to see when she returned.
The drive from the airport to the mall where her brother was waiting for her took over an hour. The roads were not good and were accompanied by traffic. It was a bit hellish.
"Where are you? I have arrived!" Briar asked her brother as she peeped from the car while checking the surroundings, looking for her brother.
[I can see you. Continue to drive and turn to your right. There is a car park there. Just park there!] Benjamin’s voice rang in her ears.
When she heard that, Briar looked to the front and then the park that he was talking about and suddenly smiled as she spotted him.
"Um. I have seen you. I will hang up now!" she said cheerfully before hanging up.
Briar drove with caution and shortly found herself in the car park where her brother was waiting for her with a small bag, probably with a change of clothes.
’Where is the caretaker?’ she couldn’t help but wonder upon seeing that Benjamin was on his own.
Anyway, it didn’t matter. Either way, the girl wouldn’t be coming with them to the village, so it was better to leave her here. With that thought in mind, she happily found an empty space to park the car.
As soon as the car came to a halt, her brother slowly made his way to the car. Briar opened the window and didn’t bother to come out and happily called out, "Old man. Do you need some help?" her tone filled with teasing.
Benjamin chuckled helplessly upon being teased. He looked at his beloved sister who had suffered so much that until now he still felt guilty for her. Seeing her smiling, looking very radiant and living better, he couldn’t help but smile relievedly.
With her living such a good life, he could be at ease and didn’t have to worry more.
"This old man doesn’t need help. I will slowly come over there!"
Briar burst into laughter upon hearing that. "Sure, take care of yourself, old man!" she said encouragingly.
Benjamin chuckled faintly as he walked to the back of the car, where he opened the boot and put his bag there. As he put on his bag, he spotted Briar’s suitcase as well. So, he just put the bags together before closing.
Once he was done, he made his way to the front but didn’t go to the passenger’s side but the driver’s side. As he went there, Briar alighted from the car and opened her arms with a smile on her face.
"Brother, how have you been?" she asked the other, as they both hugged tightly.
Benjamin patted the young one’s back with a smile on his face and answered, "Brother is well. I have never been better!"
Briar grinned happily when she heard that. ’That’s good. Let it remain like this forever, okay?"
"Um, it shall be like that!" Benjamin nodded as he ruffled her hair before suddenly pausing mid-way upon realizing something.
"Dear, you ..... have you always had short hair?" he asked suspiciously upon seeing that head.
Briar, who was asked out of nowhere, panicked for a bit as she recalled how the short hair came to be. When she was admitted, she didn’t tell her brother. He didn’t know that she tried to commit suicide and all that. He shouldn’t know about that matter, no matter what.
So, she looked at him with a smile and said, "I was trying a new style and now growing the hair back!" her tone not selling out anything at all.
Benjamin looked at Briar for a brief second, digesting that and, seeing that she didn’t seem to be lying, smiled with a nod.
"You still look good. Just not used to seeing you like this!"
Brar grinned when she heard that and cheerfully said, "I know. Don’t worry. I plan to start plaiting the hair once I return. Because of the ceremony, I found it pointless to do so!"
When Benjamin heard that, the ceremony process suddenly flooded his mind and then he looked at her head.
"That makes sense! You will have to undo it again!"
"Indeed. So, this is the best thing," she said agreeingly before changing the topic, "let’s go and buy food and other things. We need to get there before it’s dark!"
Benjamin looked at the watch on his wrist and nodded when he saw that time was flying. "Sure, let’s do so. We don’t want to travel late."
Briar happily chimed after hearing that and locked the car before hooking arms with her brother and made way to the mall.
Inside the mall, Briar started with the supermarket, where she and Benjamin came out with a full trolley. Benjamin, seeing the food which was too much for two people to eat in the following days, could only sigh helplessly.
Money was truly ..... the root of all problems, indeed.
"Brother, don’t worry, this food we will share with Mammy Adonai. Besides, you might need to buy more food for the weekend. There would be celebrations, after all."
When he heard that, his uneasy heart finally settled.
