Contractually Yours: The Billionaire's Unlikely Bride
Chapter 161: TIME WITH THE GIRLS

Chapter 161: Chapter 161: TIME WITH THE GIRLS

Logan drove Briar from the mansion to the city centre, where she made an appointment with the girls.

When he got there, he didn’t spend much time with her but kissed her goodbye before driving away. He didn’t bother to wait and greet the other ladies but just left.

Briar didn’t mind that as well. She truly didn’t like other women looking at her man, even if they were her friends.

Once Logan was gone, Briar headed for the café where they would be meeting.

When she got there, the other three were already there.

"Good morning, guys!" Briar cheerfully greeted them as she joined them at the table.

"Morning, dear!" Bertha greeted in return with a smile as she sized Briar from head to toe.

"Hey, Briar!" Vivian cheerfully waved at Briar.

"Morning, sister-in-law!" Alice’s eyes were sparkling as she looked at Briar.

Briar joined the ladies at the table and ordered some water. She was still full and didn’t feel like eating anything.

The four of them stayed at the café for twenty minutes or so before they left.

Their plan was very simple: have some spa moments and make their bodies good so that they would be glowing at the banquet.

Briar was no longer an amateur when it comes to spa treatments. So, she was at ease during the whole process.

While getting their treatments, the ladies couldn’t help but gossip a bit.

"Bertha, is your mother-in-law good to you?" Alice asked curiously, wondering what Lady Helen was like in person.

Although she grew up seeing the other lady, she was still scary to spend time with. If she was like that, Alice could imagine what she would be like as an in-law.

Bertha smiled as her face was facing the ground since they were getting back massages at the moment and answered, "She is very sweet. Lady Helen is not a scary person. You just need to be earnest and don’t be pretentious in her eyes," her eyes softening as she thought of the old lady who was easily misunderstood.

"Really?" Alice was a bit taken aback but quickly gathered herself and added, "Then that’s good."

"Um. And one important thing, you must love her son. With that at the table, she won’t have any problems with you!"

Briar nodded as she listened to that. Mothers only wanted the best for their children. Of course, that only applied to responsible mothers and not manipulative ones.

Madam Meyer was a good mother, and she wasn’t the kind of mother who would interfere in her kids’ business. She wants to see her children happy and have partners who will spend the rest of their lives with them.

It was very simple.

As long as the partner is very good, sincere and in love, then there wouldn’t be anything to worry about.

But if that wasn’t the case, then the situation of having evil in-laws would surface.

As she was thinking about that, she found herself in the hot chair as a question was directed towards her, "dear, is there any good news in your belly?" Bertha’s voice rang in her ears.

As soon as she heard that, Briar shyly raised her head and glared at Bertha, who was asking nonsense.

Meanwhile, Alice and Vivian both burst into teasing laughter when they heard that, but they were also curious.

After all, Briar had been married for a while now.

Briar retrieved her glare and faced downwards before answering, "It’s still early, don’t you think? Besides, we leave this kind of thing to the heavens."

"Hehe, I am a doctor, don’t worry. You can drop by the hospital and we will check!"

"Hehe, sister Bertha, stop teasing my sister-in-law. These things don’t happen just because we want them to."

"Hehe, saying it like that, as if you aren’t looking forward to holding another niece or nephew!" Vivian interjected playfully and all of them burst into heartfelt laughter.

Briar’s lips were curled upwards as that topic was being discussed.

She also wanted to hold her child with Logan, but would it be possible?

A wry smile appeared on her face as her eyes reddened.

Only time will tell!

The day went eventually well and Briar got the makeover she wanted. By the time Logan came to take her, he was amazed by what he saw.

"Brother!" Alice cheerfully greeted her brother as soon as she saw him.

Logan smiled at her as he returned her greeting, "Alice! How are you?"

"Doing great, brother and yourself?"

Logan looked at Briar lovingly and then at Alice, saying, "Life is great!" and Alice cooed, thinking to herself how badass her brother had become.

She had just been dog food, and it tasted strange.

Logan received greetings from Vivian and Bertha, and he talked with Bertha for a while before he hooked Briar’s arm with his.

"I will drop her later. Please take good care of her," before they left, Logan said imploringly to Bertha, who was very happy to oblige.

Bertha, Vivian and Alice watched as the couple walked to the low-key sedan parked by the side of the road with mysterious smiles on their faces.

"Who would have thought that I would see this combo in my life?" Vivian said sighingly as she looked at the couple.

Being Briar’s friend who stayed with her next door, it was truly unbelievable that Briar was married to Mr. Meyer. That was someone they both watched when they were growing up. When it comes to age, he could be considered their uncle. After all, he was fifteen years older than Briar. And yet now these two were wife and husband.

Looking at how well they looked together and harmonized, Vivian could only set aside the ’old cow eating young grass’ situation that was bothering her.

As long as Briar was happy, then everything else didn’t matter, right?

Alice chuckled when she heard Vivian’s statement.

She nodded her head in agreement and echoed, "You aren’t the only one with such thoughts. Imagine how shocked when we learnt about the marriage? But it’s a good thing that they got paired up!"

Bertha nodded with satisfaction upon hearing that from Alice and said, "You can tell that they have strong feelings for each other. I wish them well!"

"Same here."

"So, let’s do our best to stand by Briar’s side at the banquet. We wouldn’t want anything bad to happen!" Bertha said, her tone filled with determination and a hint of warning.

Alice’s body shuddered when she thought of anything happening. She readily nodded her head, agreeing to Bertha’s words, and said eagerly, "No harm will befall her. Mother will also be in attendance. By now, those who should know, know already who my brother’s wife is."

"That better be the case!" Bertha said flatly, as her eyes went cold. "I would hate to see my friend getting bullied. I have a bad temper!"

Both Alice and Vivian chuckled nervously when they heard that, but also agreed with what Bertha had just said.

They also wouldn’t want to see Briar being bullied. She had been bullied enough already. It was time to stop all that from happening.

After coming up with countermeasures, the three ladies finally went their separate ways to prepare for the big night.

They didn’t dare be lax and lose face.
