Chapter 148: Chapter 148: SHE IS WRONGED
"Will she be fine?"
"She looks very scared. I am starting to wonder just how bad Raine scared her!"
"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. I had a bad feeling that Raine was bad news when I saw her dressed exaggeratedly. I just didn’t think that she came here with a purpose!"
’It’s a pity, to be honest. She should have been calm. How could she attack directly like that?"
"Maybe it’s her age!"
The women chatted amongst themselves as they followed Logan, who was holding Briar tightly as if she was a child.
Their husband wasn’t adding anything to their conversations, but their expressions didn’t look well at all.
When had such a thing ever happened amongst them?
It was simply too unexpected to think that it happened on the day that they were meeting Briar for the first time. What if she gets traumatized and doesn’t dare go outside after that?
Thinking about how furious Logan was, the men could only hope that Briar would fare better once she was at home. Wellington, on the other hand, was the most worried.
He couldn’t help but fear that Briar might recall all those memories that had been erased from her and that would cause a problem for a lot of people.

It didn’t take long before everyone was outside. The group watched as Logan gently placed Briar, who had fallen asleep god knows when into the car before he turned around to face them.
"I am sorry, guys, but I have to go. I will update you once I am home."
The others looked at him apologetically and with an understanding gaze.
"Sure. Just make sure that she is fine."
"Give her some warm milk when she is home and it would be better if you don’t ask much lest you trigger the trauma," Janet reminded with a kind smile on her face.
Logan nodded at her, acknowledging her words. He wasn’t planning on letting Briar repeat whatever happened to her when she was with Raine.
"Thanks, I will remember that," he said gratefully to Janet before turning to address everyone else, "later and sorry about leaving early!"
His friends acknowledged him and watched him get into the car, and moments later, the car sped away.
Seeing Logan leaving, the ten of them sighed dejectedly and helplessly, lamenting about how unexpected the night was.
The couples no longer had any reason to continue the meeting, so they bade each other farewell and went their separate ways.
On Wellington’s side, he and Janet were in the backseat, chatting, with Janet basically narrating the drama that happened when the men left.
"You can’t believe how stupid and egoistic Raine is. I thought that she was a good person, but it seemed that I had been fooled all this time." Janet was completely angry when she thought about how Raine had masked her evil intentions from the word go.
Wellington could hear Janet’s anger. He took her hand in his and began to pat it comfortingly as he responded to her, "Don’t let her stress you and anger you. She doesn’t deserve it!"
Janet was furious when she heard that. She looked at Wellington and scoffed, "How can I not be angry? If only she had kept her thoughts to herself, then I wouldn’t be acting this way! Do you know that Briar didn’t even bother with her from start to finish?"
After saying that, Janet narrated angrily what happened. From how Briar excused herself to visit the restroom and how Raine followed shortly after.
After some time being away, Briar returned with reddened eyes and they all could see that she had suffered some grievances. When Raine returned, she became even a mess. Before they knew it, Raine was busy pointing fingers at Briar and insulting her badly, which wasn’t ladylike at all.
Anyway, during the fuss, that’s when Logan arrived, as well as the other men leading to the ugly ending at the end.
When Wellington heard the order of things, he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, wondering if being abroad had made Raine’s head silly or what. Otherwise, how could she attack Briar on such a day? Couldn’t she have waited for another day or something?
Anyway, it was good that it happened that way. Now Raine had seen for herself that Logan didn’t have any feelings for her at all. Maybe she would back off as long as she didn’t want Logan to make a move on her.
While Janet was busy narrating the story to her men, the other ladies were busy doing the same as well. They were all filled with complications. They didn’t look well at all.

On Logan’s side, Briar didn’t wake up during the drive home, but tears continued to stream down her cheeks as her body trembled now and then. It was as if she was having some sort of nightmare and he was regretting bringing her to that gathering.
If he had known that Raine had ill intentions towards him and that someone would attack Briar because of her low background, he would have let her stay at home and do whatever she loved. At least she wouldn’t have suffered badly like that.
When they got home, the kids weren’t asleep yet, but watching TV.
When they heard the car, they were all happy and scurried towards the door to welcome their two favorite people but when they saw their father carrying their second mother in his arms wearing a cold expression, they all shuddered in fear as it dawned on them.
Something went wrong!
Lyra, being the oldest and not that afraid of her father, asked him worriedly as soon as she calmed a bit down, "Dad, what happened to second mother?" while trying to peek at her face which her father was covering tightly.
Logan clenched his teeth as he recalled what had happened. His gaze darkened as those ugly words resurfaced in his mind. If he felt that way upon hearing them, then what about Briar?
Nonetheless, he took a deep breath to calm himself down and looked at his children, who looked worried as they looked at Briar. He forced a smile on his face and responded to Lyra, "Dear, your mother just drank a bit too much wine. She is sleeping now," and lied without batting an eye.
