Chapter 149: Chapter 149: SHE IS WRONGED 2

Lyra looked at him with a dubious expression, obviously not feeling that excuse, but who made him the father?

Logan didn’t plan on revealing the truth. Once he had told that lie, he lifted his feet and started striding towards the elevator. His young wife needed rest and comfort. His kids could wait a bit.

Lyra, Cade and Tiana watched as their father left with their second mother suspiciously and once the elevator was no longer on the floor, they looked at each other and Cade said, "I think that second mother had suffered a blow at the gathering!" voicing out his suspicion.

Tiana nodded her head like an adult as her small hands clenched into fists and Lyra’s gaze darkened as she thought about something sinister like that happened.

"Who could have bullied her when dad was there?"

"That’s what we need to think about!"

"If Dad can’t tell us, why don’t we report to Grandma?" Tiana suggested determination in her eyes.

Just because second mother treated her as a child all the time didn’t mean that she was ignorant and didn’t know things. Since her mother wanted her to grow up normally like any child, she didn’t mind fulfilling that wish. Moreover, playing a child her age was fun.

However, now that the mother she loved so much had been bullied, and her father didn’t manage to stop that, she might as well report the matter to her grandmother. Since the grandmother didn’t object to the marriage, it meant that she loved her second mother. So, they might as well share their concerns.

When Lyra heard that, her eyes lit up, and she ruffled Tiana’s head playfully, earning a scolding from Tiana in the process.

After fooling around for a moment, the kids called their grandmother and reported the matter exaggeratedly, causing the old lady to be so furious.

Logan never thought that the kids would sell him and call his mother. Once he had taken Briar upstairs, he gently laid her on the bed, went to the restroom where he wet the towel with warm water and picked some makeup up removing masks from the vanity drawers.

He returned to the bedroom and started dealing with her face gently before applying the warm towel to remove any excess makeup remaining on her face.

Once that was done, he started removing her clothes and, as he was in the middle of doing so, his phone started ringing. He didn’t want to be bothered by any irrelevant calls at that moment, so he ignored the call two times.

However, the caller was very relentless and kept on calling. Seeing that, Logan could only fish the damn phone out of his pocket, cussing in his mind, but when he saw the caller ID, his tail got tucked nicely between his legs.

He took several deep breaths to calm his emotions down while wondering why his mother was calling him like that. After a moment, he swiped the call and put it on speaker since he was still in the middle of undressing Briar. He couldn’t stop in the middle of doing so. What if she catches a cold and gets sick?

He didn’t want to see her getting hospitalized again anytime soon.

"Mother!" he answered with a cool voice, devoid of any complicated emotions he was feeling at that moment.

[What happened to her? Who bullied her?] his mother, though, seemed to know exactly what had happened, and she sounded pretty furious.

His mother’s commanding tone took aback Logan and it didn’t leave any room for lame excuses.

He could tell that his mother seemed to know everything that had happened, but how did she even know?

Could it be that she was still keeping people on him? But that was impossible. She stopped doing that when he was still in high school. From the time he became an adult, she stopped monitoring him.

Or could it be that she somehow was at the club? But wouldn’t he have been told?

[Who did it? Didn’t I tell you that you need to take care of her and never let her be wronged? But what happened now?] his mother’s furious voice rang once again, and that jolted him out of his suspicious thoughts.

Logan looked at the young woman who was lying weakly on the bed, her eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, and felt a pang in his heart.

"I will deal with it, mother. Don’t worry about it!"

[How can I not worry, son? Have you forgotten that despite what happened back there, the doctor sternly advised her to not be triggered? This is your wife, the daughter-in-law of our family. Who dares wrong her? If you can’t protect her, then you aren’t worthy of her love. You might as well give her a divorce and let her go. If you can’t protect such a woman’s son, then set her free. I don’t have a coward of a son! Either you deal with the matter or I intervene! You choose! Doot ... doot ..... doot.] Without giving him time to respond, she hung up on him.

Logan looked at the screen, which had gone dark and the furious voice still ringing in his ears.

His head was splitting, aching all over. He raised his hands and massaged his throbbing temples for a moment as his thoughts continued to wonder who told his mother about that. Who could have snitched on him?

Unfortunately, he had no idea that the culprits were still downstairs, analyzing what might have happened to Briar.

Since he couldn’t find the answers, he wanted at that moment. He continued to undress Briar and once he was done; he wiped her body and put on a nightgown for her.

He tucked her into the blankets once that was done and disappeared to the restroom to freshen up as well.

Unbeknownst to him, the moment the door closed, the sleeping beauty’s lips curled upward into a smirk and her eyes opened slightly before closing.

By the time Logan returned, Briar was still snoring softly in the same position.
