Chapter 142: Chapter 142: LADIES TALK

The men, seeing their ladies doing well with Briar, decided to give them some space and have a man-to-man chat.

So, they excused themselves, and the ladies didn’t mind. They shooshed them away.

When the men left, Briar was in the room with five women excluding herself.

Logan had four best friends, and they came with their partners, making it four ladies. And then, adding Raine, they became five and with her; it was six.

"Are you faring well, adjusting to your new status?" Janet, Wellington’s partner, asked teasingly.

Briar blushed when she heard that. She shyly looked at Janet and responded coyly in a mosquito voice, "I am," and her response made the other four ladies laugh knowingly.

"Hehe, Logan is a nice man. He will treat you well as long as you treat him well."

Briar nodded, agreeing to that.

"Are the children fine? Are they adapting to this new situation?" Mike’s partner asked curiously, her tone laced with worry.

Children were always the hardest. She was also a stepmother and, at times, it gets tough.

Talking about these women, Briar would have to start with their husbands. Logan had four best friends, and each friend was in a different industry.

Wellington was the doctor, a famous one on top of that, and made a name for himself. He was married to Janet, who was a very lovely and interactive woman.

Mike dabbled in electronics, Luke dabbled in construction, and, lastly, Damien was in finance.

They all came from prominent families, but they have been doing well on their own. They didn’t rely on the family fortune, but on what they molded with their own hands.

Back to the story at hand. Briar smiled at Mike’s wife, fully aware of what she was thinking, and nodded her head. "I have never had any issue with the kids. Maybe the bond we had from the start protected this well," and didn’t bother to hide the fact that she was a nanny.

The others, upon hearing that, applauded her inwardly while they nodded their heads. It was surely easy for Briar to get everything in control. They might not have lived in the Meyer mansion, but they all knew that Briar literally raised Logan’s children.

It would be disheartening if the kids rejected her simply because she became the stepmother and not the nanny. Of course, they also thought and felt that Briar was capable of having the kids under control.

Raine in particular couldn’t help but wonder if Briar had been planning on seducing Logan from the word go. After all, she had an inkling that Logan tolerated her because the kids loved her.

If the kids weren’t there, would Logan even look at Briar?

Unknown to Raine, her thoughts were spot on, but without any evidence or knowing that’s how Briar acted. How could she expose Briar?

It was doomed to be futile.

The ladies were curious, so they bombarded Briar with questions and their questions were all polite, including Raine, who at some point joined in as well.

In that period, Briar had drunk quite a few drinks and her bladder was calling for help, so she excused herself politely from the group.

"I need to use the ladies!" she apologetically said to them as she stood on her feet.

The ladies smiled kindly at her before urging her to go in a playful manner.

Briar hurriedly left the room as if she was chased, making the ladies burst into hearty laughter.

Raine, seeing that Briar had left the room, looked at the sisters she didn’t have much in common but still politely excused herself before leaving.

Janet narrowed her eyes as she looked at the departing back of Raine and suddenly regretted it.

Her other friends, seeing that, couldn’t help but pat her shoulder and thigh.

"What are you thinking?"

Janet scoffed as she looked towards the door and angrily responded, "If I had known that Raine had such thoughts toward Logan, I wouldn’t have been fooled! To think that she used me like a tool all this time, just to get some information, I feel like digging her eyes out!"

She was so angry the more she thought about the matter. Janet was the dear friend that Raine had been talking about and even made an appointment with before.

Although Raine didn’t live in the county, Janet once saw her in another country when she was on a business trip and they got acquainted with one another.

From there on, they started talking and became friendly. Knowing that Raine was her husband’s friend from school, she wasn’t stingy with information and never thought about anything else.

However, when Raine suddenly talked about Selena in front of Briar, she observed the other party closely and was shocked.

Shocked by such a revelation, she wanted to check who else could see through Raine but never thought that her husband seemed to be more knowledgeable than her. However, her husband seemed to be watching a joke, and she was relieved knowing that Raine’s thoughts wouldn’t come to fruition.

Although it would still end up like that, she still felt used and if anything happened to Logan’s second marriage, she wouldn’t know where to put her face.

And now that Raine had also followed Briar, she couldn’t help but be worried and angry as well.

The ladies sighed ruefully when they heard that, but they couldn’t do anything.

"Should we follow them?"

"And then what?"

"Then .... Are we going to leave Briar on her own? What if she gets bullied?"

"Tche! Since she was able to get married to Logan, she is not a simple person. If she can’t handle such things now, what use does she have?"

"Hehe, that’s true. Now that you said it, I guess I need to look closely at her and see what she is hiding beneath that innocent face."

The ladies ended up deciding to mind their own business and see who would win or eat a loss.

Besides, life wasn’t one without a bit of drama.

At the same time, who wasn’t interested in seeing faces being torn apart?

For some of the wives who hated Raine more than anything else, they were even rooting for her to mess up.

As long as Logan takes action, they wouldn’t have to worry about Raine at all.

Who made her so attractive and spent so much time with their husbands in the past?
