Contractually Yours: The Billionaire's Unlikely Bride -
Chapter 141: DIGGING HER OWN GRAVE
Chapter 141: Chapter 141: DIGGING HER OWN GRAVE
Briar was patting Logan’s hand comfortingly, and Logan had an indescribable glint in his eyes, but it sent shivers down their spines the more they looked at him.
Briar maintained a curious and innocent expression, looking directly at Raine as if she didn’t want to miss a word, but inwardly, she was dancing with joy.
’If I had known that the rain of a love idiot was this mushy, hahaha, I would have called her friend a lot of times!’
Briar was so happy seeing Raine digging her own grave like that.
If Raine had talked about Selena a few months ago, maybe that trick might have worked, but alas, she didn’t have the recent news. She didn’t know how much Logan loathed being reminded about Selena.
Every time that name was spoken out loud, he would recall how Selena wasn’t true to him and how she cheated on him so many times that she made him raise another man’s child.
Raine didn’t know that because of Selena’s deeds, she ended up in the hospital and got her memories altered. Thankfully, they weren’t, so she could use that to her advantage.
Now she didn’t even need to provoke others. She would let others send themselves to doom without moving a finger.
How could she not like Raine?
Wellington was having the same thoughts as Briar. He couldn’t help but recall the good deeds committed by Selena and the other secrets that Briar split related to his family.
If it wasn’t for Briar, he would still be in the dark. Thanks to her, he managed to solve huge problems that might have shaken the foundation left by the ancestors.
He couldn’t help but lit a candle for Raine and at the same time prayed that Logan wouldn’t be affected much.
Recalling something about this matter, he couldn’t help but take a glimpse of Briar, curious to see her reaction. However, the other looked blank and curious. He could see question marks on that small face as if asking Raine, ’What are you doing and bringing the dead into the question?’
He sighed with relief when he saw that. As long as she didn’t show any signs of remembering what she shouldn’t, then she could react in whatever way she wanted.
Unfortunately, Raine didn’t get what was going on and just continued babbling like a green tea.
"I have brought you a gift. It’s in away, away but played with Briar’s hands for a moment as he tried to calm his surging emotions down.
Raine had brought up some memories that he had locked away for a long time. He felt disgusted, angry, and rage. However, he understood one thing: all these people except for Wellington didn’t know anything. So, he couldn’t burst into anger and vent at Raine.
Raine hadn’t been in the country for a long time, so it was possible that she was just being outspoken like she was before.
He didn’t like it when Raine brought Selena and Briar in one sentence. Those two were different completely, but he couldn’t air his family’s dirty laundry, so he could only calm down.
While he was doing so, Wellington interjected with a chuckle and said, "Before we get to that wedding part, how about we finish the introductions? We haven’t finished that part yet?" suggesting as he looked at everyone in the room.
Upon hearing that, the friends who were at a loss and didn’t know what to say in such a situation heaved with relief and agreed to that suggestion.
Briar’s eyes also lit up, and she rubbed Logan’s hand excitedly. Logan, who was a bit dark a while ago, suddenly smiled, feeling much better and less stifled.
Raine watching all that wasn’t feeling good. She said all that for a purpose. She wanted to remind Briar that she was just a second choice and that Selena would always be the person in Logan’s heart. However, after not seeing Logan for so many years, she couldn’t read him too well.
As a result, by the time she realized that she had spoken the wrong words, Wellington was already speaking. It was only then that she realized that she had messed up big time. Unfortunately, it was too late to cry over spilt milk.
She could only plaster a fake smile and pretend that she hadn’t done anything wrong at all.
Logan agreed to Wellington’s suggestion. After all, before Raine brought up such a disturbing topic, they were in the middle of introductions.
With his agreement, the introductions resumed officially, and no one dared to add spices or make things difficult for Briar.
"Thank you everyone. Please take care of me in the future," after knowing everyone formally, Briar humbled herself and politely said to everyone, her voice sounding pleasant to the ears.
Seeing Briar, who was humble and didn’t show any airs, the ladies liked her even more.
The fact that she wasn’t pretentious or tried to act in a way that didn’t suit her didn’t seem to be that bad.
There were a lot of women who tended to act in disgusting manners when they got married to the rich. They always try to fit in, showing off and acting shamelessly. And yet, from the moment Briar entered the room, her focus was mainly on Logan.
They couldn’t help but find her a fool, in fact. With her love for Logan, wouldn’t she be hurt in the future if things go south ways?
Anyway, they decided to be happy and forget about the previous grievances. Why blame Briar when it was their friend who chose Briar?
"Hehe, don’t worry, dear. Now that we are sisters, we will definitely treat you well."
"I once saw you at a banquet and you were close to Doctor Bertha. Do you know her?"
Briar looked at the lady who asked that and responded shyly, "Yes, we are friends!" while playing with the ring on her finger.
Logan looked at the ring on Briar’s finger and remembered that she once said that it was a friendship ring. Only good friends have such a commitment.
He agreed with her on that, and Briar was engaged in a hearty conversation with the ladies.
