Wellington chuckled on the other side of the phone and his response came, [Um, she is returning. It’s been a very long time since our group had gathered together. So, let’s find some time during the week to do so. I heard my wife talking about a banquet over the weekend. We might not be able to gather together if the ladies attend that banquet.]

The news of Raine returning surprised Logan. It’s been a lot of years since he saw her. She could be considered someone he spent a lot of time with alongside his male friends besides Selena.

While they had remained in the country, she went overseas. They rarely talked, but that didn’t mean that they forgot about each other.

He was curious about why she was returning to the country, but that curiosity only lasted for a moment before vanishing completely.

His focus was shifted to the matter of the banquet. Why didn’t he hear anything about the banquet?

Did they deem his wife to be so low that they didn’t invite her?

He decided to check on this matter with his mother later. His wife needed to go out more.

"Sure, you discuss and tell me which day is suitable, then."

[Sure. I will leave you with it. Enjoy your honeymoon phase!] Wellington teased him before hanging up.

Logan clicked his tongue as he shook his head, finding Wellington’s words full of sourness.

Who made him not have a second honeymoon phase?

After the call with his best friend, Logan called his mother, and the call was shortly connected.

He talked about the matter of the banquet, and his mother’s response was surprising.

[Briar will be coming with Dr Bertha. It’s a banquet for the young ones.]

He was surprised that it was the case, but why didn’t Briar tell him about it?

But then he thought about how busy he had kept her from the moment that they arrived at the penthouse. How could she have time to share such news?

After confirming that Briar would be attending the banquet, he didn’t continue to taunt his mother but hung up shortly and started doing other chores.

Sometime later, he went back to the bedroom and found her just waking up from sleep. She was rubbing her eyes while yawning and she looked cute.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked softly as he embraced her in his arms.

Briar snuggled in his embrace as she yawningly nodded.

Logan smiled dotingly and kissed her forehead before his gaze lingered for a while on her hair.

The hair was growing, and it could now be plaited. It was time to send her to the hair saloon; he thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Briar after being embraced by Logan, her drowsiness gradually vanished and she remembered something that she had failed to share with Logan and the days were flying very fast.

She raised her head to look at him, and she found him staring at her. She felt shy at being stared at like that. However, she felt grateful that he wasn’t looking at her with lust. Otherwise, she would suffer before she could properly rest again.

"Hubby!" she called out to him coyly, since she couldn’t evade his gaze.

"Um," he hummed as he caressed her waist, playing with the beads. "Do you want anything?"

Briar hurriedly nodded with a sparkle in her eyes, which made him curious about what was making her look like that.

"Tell me. As long as I can do it, I will do my best," he promised seriously, eager to please his little wife who hadn’t disappointed him yet.

Briar grinned shyly upon hearing that but still responded, "Um... I .... I want to go back to my home village next week. Is it possible?" and asked for permission nervously while looking at him with anticipation.

’Phew~’ That was his first reaction upon hearing what she wanted.

He didn’t expect that what she wanted was that. It was her home village, so why seek permission? However, when he recalled how she vowed earlier, a smile appeared on his face.

That was indeed what she had promised. Putting him first and putting her life in his hands. He didn’t seem to hate this, to be honest.

"If you want to go, then go. There is no need to ask me!"

"But you are my hubby. If I don’t tell you, I will feel bad," she grumbled as she looked down.

Logan felt good hearing that his ego was indeed inflated.

"You can go. When do you want to leave?"

Briar upon hearing that beamed happily and her smile was alluring. She excitedly shared the information with him but kindly didn’t truthfully say why she was going there.

"I want to check on my brother and see how is he faring and also collect the medicine. We are running out."

Logan saw no fault in those words. He was used to having her replenishing the medicine, which had helped his family a lot. And her brother was sick, the reason why she agreed to sign that contract, though he was sure now that without her brother, she would have agreed nonetheless.

He didn’t have a reason to stop her from seeing his brother, so he agreed. He couldn’t go with her, as he could sense that she didn’t want to. If she wanted him to come, she would have said it, but she didn’t.

Thinking about her family, maybe it was for the best if he didn’t appear. He was afraid that he might let his wife be bothered and fail to give him a chubby son or a daughter in the future.

However, he would try to see this brother she talked generously about.

Briar was happy to get the permission to go home. Now she wouldn’t need to worry about the ceremony at all.

After getting the permission, she also informed him about something that she had forgotten; the matter of attending the banquet.

"Do you want me to organize a gown and the stylist team for you?" after hearing her confirm what his mother had told him earlier, he asked.

However, she shook her head in objection and said, "Bertha said she would prepare everything. I just need to be ready at that time," a smile on her face and her tone sounding affectionate.

When he heard that, Logan nodded appreciatively, satisfied with how his wife had managed to make friends who seemed to care about her. Doctor Bertha was a good woman and person. It wasn’t bad for Briar to befriend such a person.

From her, Briar would learn a lot.
