When they appeared in the dining room a while later, Briar regretted her impulsiveness as she received stares from Lyra, who seemed to be scrutinizing her. However, Briar’s skin was very thick, so she pretended as if she wasn’t the one who was being stared at.

Breakfast was sumptuous, and the family of five had a great time.

After breakfast, Briar instructed the kids to change if they hadn’t, since they would be leaving in a moment. With the kids gone to prepare, she went upstairs with Logan, who informed her on the way that he wouldn’t be leaving with them. He had something to deal with in the morning, but he would join them later in the afternoon.

Briar was honestly happy when she heard that. She didn’t expect him to join them on such a day, but to hear that he would participate, she was very happy.

That would be their first outing as a family since she got married. How could that not touch her?

Even if he joined them for ten minutes, it was still fine.

With the news that Logan would be joining them later, she was in a good mood. Briar changed for the third time that morning and wore a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers.

She didn’t need to dress over the top to go and see fish. Besides, just in case they ended up going somewhere to play, she needed to be dressed in comfortable clothes.

Logan simply smiled and nodded when he saw how good she looked. She looked very youthful and whatever she was applying nowadays; it suits her well. Her skin was glowing, and he was loving every single second of it.

Briar, after changing, didn’t pack a bag but put her necessities in her jeans’ pockets; a phone and a bank card. There was no need for a bag.

Once that was done, she stood on her tiptoes and gave Logan a smooch before darting away from the room, leaving Logan chuckling loudly, and making her heart thump wildly in the process.

When she got downstairs, the kids were already waiting and the food bag she had packed was in Lyra’s hands.

She looked at the kids and nodded with satisfaction. "Good. Everyone is ready. Let’s go!" she urged as she started walking towards the awaiting limo.

The kids happily skipped towards the car after hearing that.

When Logan came out, the limo was already leaving. He shook his head helplessly and clicked his tongue at the thought of how Briar ran away quickly after playing with fire.

However, when he thought of later that night, his mood got uplifted.

She was going to pay for her tricks sooner or later.

With that thought in mind, he walked towards the car he planned on driving that day. He still has a few more things to prepare before he brings Briar to that place.

He didn’t dare be clumsy.

Meanwhile, inside the limo, Briar and the kids were having a wonderful chat.

"Second Mother, is Dad really joining us later?" Tiana asked excitedly as she looked at Briar.

Briar nodded with a smile as she ruffled Tiana’s hair and answered, "Um. That’s what he told me. We will just keep an eye on and see when he turns up!"

This time, Tiana didn’t flare up after getting her hair messed up. She was grinning like a fool at the thought of spending more time with her father and the rest of the family. She wasn’t the only one feeling like that. The other two were looking forward to that as well.

With so much to talk about, the car was filled with merry chat and laughter. In the process, Briar received the call.

She took it out of her pocket and looked at the screen. When she saw the caller ID, a smile broke out on her face and the kids were taken aback.

’Is it Dad who is calling her?’ they couldn’t help but wonder.

However, that wasn’t the case at all, as Briar’s greeting made the kids wonder more about who she was talking to.

"Mammy, I wasn’t expecting your call!" Briar smiled as she answered the call.

[Um. If I didn’t call, weren’t you planning to call me at all?]

Briar smiled wryly upon hearing that. She had been so excited that she forgot to call her spiritual mother. Now that she was calling, she recalled about the matter.

"Hehe, how about forgiving me this once?"

[Umph! You ... anyway, just know that I am in the process of preparing everything for the ceremony. Don’t forget to come. It’s in two weeks.]

When Briar heard that, her expression became serious. She hadn’t told her husband about the matter of the ceremony and she didn’t plan on telling him that yet.

She would rather have him find out about the matter later in the future when he couldn’t live without her than now.

It wasn’t everyone who saw spiritualists in a good light. People like her were involved in both the good and the bad, though people usually find them for the bad things. If he were to know that she had become that kind of person, she was afraid that she might lose everything before she could even grasp it.

Nonetheless, she still needed to return to her hometown, and she needed a good reason for it.

While she was pondering about that matter, Mammy Adonai’s voice rang in her ear, [You didn’t tell him about it. Did you?]

Briar sighed wryly, seeing that the other party had caught her. "Um. I haven’t."

[Good. Don’t for now. You will have a good chance to make him accept you. I can foresee that moment coming pretty soon!]

Suddenly Briar didn’t have a good feeling when she said that. She wanted to ask Mammy Adonai what she was talking about, but with the kids who were stealing peeks at her, she could only hold her tongue lest she expose something.

[We will talk in detail when you come. Besides, by the time you come here, you should have some insight.]

Briar’s brows furrowed when she heard that. The warning bells in her mind were ringing. It was as if trouble was about to come and find her. And she didn’t like the sound of it.

Mammy Adonai didn’t elaborate further on hearing her silence, but simply reminded her to not forget to come back. She promised her before she hung the call with a forced smile on her face.

The kids didn’t ask her who she was talking about. After all, that would be invading her privacy.

Briar didn’t let the conversation affect her that much. Since she couldn’t deal with the matter right now, she might as well focus on the kids and make sure that the day ends perfectly.

Within moments, she was back to her happy self, and the kids felt relieved seeing that.

Meanwhile, on Logan’s side, after leaving home, he drove to the pentsuites he owned but barely spent time there since the home was always the best.

It was a place which Selena usually used when she was alive. After her death, he rarely went there, but when he thought of the perfect place to spend some alone time with Briar, he thought of that place.

Maybe he wanted to trample on Selena and make her see how he was going to love, spoil and pamper the girl he looked down in one of the few houses that she liked the most.

Since he couldn’t do anything to Selena now, doing that made him feel much better. So, he prepared for the date seriously.

When he got there, the housekeeper was busy with other people decorating the place.

He didn’t have much to do but needed to make sure that everything was in order.

He stayed for over an hour before he left and visited a jewelry shop where the jeweler he gave the order to the other time in the office worked.

When he got there, the man was waiting for him already.

As soon as he entered the shop, the few people who were busy looking at this saw him and were in awe.

Shops like these usually sold expensive jewelry, so people from rich and upper families shopped there.

So as soon as Logan walked in, some of the people recognized him immediately and wished they could take photos and spread them to their circles.

As they watched as the manager took Logan into the office, they all looked at each other and started talking amongst themselves.

"What do you think Mr. Meyer is here for?"

"Who knows?"

"Maybe he is here to collect a ring for his wife!"

"Now that you are talking about that, it makes sense. I can’t help but wonder who his wife is."

"You haven’t seen her yet?"

"Nope. When she attended that banquet, I was out of the city."

"I didn’t get a closer look at her, but she looked beautiful. However, I just don’t know which family she comes from."

"I guess I can’t wait to see her at the next banquet. If I am not mistaken, Madam Meyer should be invited."

"They might invite Mr. Meyer’s wife. Who knows?"
