Contractually Yours: The Billionaire's Unlikely Bride -
Chapter 108: PANDORA’S BOX 2
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: PANDORA’S BOX 2
[Dear, calm down. I don’t think that it’s something worth being worried about since we managed to not hear a single thing about it for over a decade. However, since you want to know, I will tell you. That way, if things get messy, we can still find a way to deal with it.]
After that, Benjamin told her about what happened shortly a few days after that day and the more she listened, the colder she became.
After listening to the whole matter, Briar’s heart was thumping like crazy. No wonder why Mammy Adonai said that there would be obstacles and she might need the CIRCLE to help her. Apart from the CIRCLE, she wanted to personally make a move. How could she leave her fate in the hands of other people?
However, she didn’t dare let her brother know the weight of the matter.
"Thank you for telling me. I will see what measures to take if things get messy in the future, but since we managed to come this far unscathed, it might be just nothing!"
[Um, I thought so as well. Since this matter is done, are you going to tell me about the ceremony? I don’t remember any worthy ceremonies being down in that month!]
This time, Briar chuckled heartily at finding her brother a worry-wart. However, she felt good hearing him being concerned like that.
"Hehe, you know that I have always had a knack for herbs from a young age?"
[Um, I know. So, what about it?]
"So, it’s like this ....." Briar started explaining the matter to her brother as vividly as she could, making the other party to be silent for a very long time.
[You ... are you sure that you want to walk this path? As far as I am concerned, you might be forced to remain single for the rest of your life. What about your husband and the children? You don’t want them anymore?]
Briar nearly cried when she heard her brother saying that out of concern, however, she held herself and answered coolly, "Don’t worry about that. My ancestors love me so much. They won’t want me to live like that at all!"
The ancestors’ eavesdropping rolled their eyes furiously. If she didn’t threaten them shamelessly like that, would they have accepted such conditions?
Benjamin didn’t understand the ins and outs of the matter, but hearing that it was fine, he sighed with relief.
[Okay, as long as it’s like that, then I am relieved. So does the family know?]
Briar tsked when she heard that. She angrily clicked her tongue, answering, "I won’t let them know. They will hear from others. Besides, they called me a whore, so why should I let them know what I am doing? Brother, I don’t care about those people at all. Whatever they do is none of my business!"
[You .... They are still your parents. Just forgive them!]
Briar rolled her eyes, finding her brother being soft-hearted again. However, she didn’t reply to him but changed the topic. Her brother hadn’t seen how bad her parents were, really. His life was better than hers at home, so he was still not wholly against them despite all the unfairness he went through because of them.
Whatever was the case between them, she wasn’t going to think much. He could remain relatives with them, but she wasn’t going to continue playing happy family with them. She was tired and needed to rest.
"Anyway, I shall be going back there to have the ceremony done by Mammy Adonai. From there on, I can officially serve people. So, if in the future, you have issues brother, remember that your sister can help you deal with any matter!" she said proudly, thinking about what she would be able to do in a month from now on.
Hearing the pride in her voice, Benjamin didn’t dare bring up the family issue again but congratulated her sincerely.
As long as she was happy and capable of protecting herself, then it didn’t matter what she was doing. Besides, being a spiritualist in their parts of the world was something important. No one would dare speak badly against one, even in dreams.
They were capable of healing and killing at the same time. So, who would dare mess with them?
The brother and sister chatted for a while about this matter before Benjamin shared his piece of good news.
[Littler sister, I am dating someone now!]
And that news almost exploded in her head.
"You .... When and how did that even happen? Aren’t you recuperating?" Briar was in disbelief when she heard that.
Her brother was just starting to walk, and yet he found a woman already? Which scheming woman did he get fooled by to date in his condition?
Could there be someone eyeing the money she gave her brother?
Who was the vixen?
[I will introduce you to her next month. Since you are going to the ceremony, as your brother, I must attend!]
Hearing him say that, she rolled her eyes, thinking about how much he was protecting his woman. With him saying such words, even if she pushed him to say something, she doubted he would share.
As a result, she accepts such reasoning and swore to observe this sister-in-law clearly. If she were playing tricks on her brother, she wouldn’t mind using the charms she hadn’t touched in a long time.
The call came to an end finally, which was a pity. However, the siblings had chatted for a long time, so they were both happy.
After the call, Briar’s smile vanished completely as she walked towards the school. Time had ticked by fast and it was nearly the time for Tiana’s classes to end.
On the way to the school, she couldn’t help but remember what she had talked about with her brother. Thinking about the pandora box she didn’t want anyone to see and open, she clenched her fists and her nails dug into her palms drawing blood.
When she thought that there was a possibility of a third person knowing or perhaps having suspicions about what transpired back then, all she wanted to do was find that person and silence him forever. Unfortunately, there was bad news. Her brother hadn’t seen that person in years. So, it wasn’t certain if that person was alive or not.
So, for now, she could only rely on Irene. With the right names, Irene could find anyone. However, if the other party wasn’t using those names, then she would be doomed. She could only hope that things would work out in her favor.
Even if this deadly secret in her pandora box wouldn’t be exposed, she still needed to take drastic measures and get rid of the trouble from the roots.
Unfortunately, time wasn’t on her side to meet with Irene. So she could only send Irene a message.
[Dear, help me search for a person called Moses Fadu.
Irene responded promptly. [What did that person do?]
[He must know about what happened twelve years ago.]
[X: What? Are you for real?]
[I wish I was dreaming but I am not. Help me find out if that person exists.]
[X: Okay, I will find and see. Don’t you have anything else? A photo or anything else I can easily identify him with?]
When Briar read that, she nearly cried with grievance.
[Our village is still backward. Back then, no one had money to buy cameras. We barely took photos. And the person I haven’t interacted with much, so I can’t remember the features well.]
[X: This is bad. If we can’t find him through the database, doesn’t this mean that there is a bomb out there ready to explode at any time?]
Briar wanted to cry when she saw that. That’s what she feared. She didn’t know who would find this person in the future if that was the secret that would bring her down. The thing was, she didn’t even know who that Moses bastard was at all and it infuriated her.
[I just get angry thinking about it. Just try to find him. If it doesn’t work, then we will find other means. Did you find out if there is anyone making moves on me right now?]
[X: Um, I found quite a few. Let me look into this person for now. I will find a date and we can meet. We can talk in detail about the matter.]
Briar heaved a sigh of relief when she heard that. Having a few enemies that she knew who thought that they were in the dark and yet had already been exposed was better than Moses. She didn’t even know whether he was alive or dead.
[Okay. You find a date then.]
After a brief chat with Irene, Briar also reached the school and several parents were arriving, ready to pick up their children.
Meanwhile, among the few who had arrived, some of them recognized Briar from the morning quibble. They couldn’t help but look at her closely, wondering what had truly transpired for that other woman to accuse of her such crimes.
Unfortunately, that was one thing that was doomed to never be unveiled.
