Chapter 104: Chapter 104: MAKING THINGS CLEAR WITH DAVE

When Chloe heard that, a smile broke on her face, however, it quickly diminished as she looked accusatorily at Briar and started retorting, "If you were married, then why were you entertaining my man?"

Briar scoffed when she heard such a crazy accusation and retorted fumingly, "When have you ever seen me entertaining your man? Do I look that free to you? I have three kids to send to school, and a husband to prepare food for. I don’t even have time to spend with them and yet you dare utter such nonsense!?" the more she thought about it, the angrier she became.

Around that time, Lyra and Cade alighted from the car, seeing that it wasn’t good outside.

"Mother, don’t listen to this woman. Just looking at her, even as kids we can tell that she is a bad apple, probably forcing this uncle here!" Lyra spat spiteful comments as she stood next to Briar for support while Cade stood on the other side.

It was the first time that Dave was seeing these two teenagers. He had no idea that every time in the car, there would be two more children.

When did this happen? How could he ....?

Cade, sensing the shameless man’s thoughts, clenched his fists angrily. He had never expected that he would get to see his stepmother in such a situation; it made him feel pressured.

His father might not know, but he and his siblings knew this man pretty well. He was the only man that their stepmother talked to the most and at some point, he even thought that one day she would introduce them together and announce that they were together.

But now that she was with his father, he didn’t even want to hear or think about such a possibility. So, he coldly looked at the man and his woman and threateningly said, "Uncle, keep a leash on your wife. And don’t let her run around tarnishing other people’s reputations. You won’t afford to bear the consequences."

Lyra nodded in agreement as she added. "While I am not trying to look down on you, you are definitely not my mother’s type. Otherwise, if you were, wouldn’t you be together right now?" a mocking smile appeared on her face.

Briar looked at Dave disappointingly. She didn’t know what he told his erratic wife or ex-wife, but she wasn’t happy at all.

"Dave, I don’t know what she thinks that we are that way. You better explain everything to her. I don’t have time for you. Our children are friends, but we don’t have such a fate. I am happily married, so please don’t let anyone go around tarnishing my name. My husband and family won’t be happy to hear this."

"Briar, I_" Dave wanted to say something, but she cut him off coldly and said, "Please don’t call me by my name. Either you call me by my martial name or the kids. From now on, call me Mrs. Meyer!"

And that made the two kids squint their eyes happily. That was the first time their second mother had publicly acknowledged the fact that she was married. The way she said that was so domineering, it made them want to hear it on repeat.

After dropping such a bomb, Briar left with the kids, not interested in what Dave and his crazy wife would say.

Dave and Chloe watched gleefully as the limo drove away. Feeling the scorching gazes on them, the two left hurriedly, feeling embarrassed.

However, Dave didn’t forget that Chloe had caused all this mess. So, he dragged her to his car and drove off.

He was going to clear some things with Chloe. She had made him lose face, and someone should pay for that.

He was angry at Chloe but had no clue about the impending storm coming his way.

Briar was pissed off when she boarded the car.

"How dare she embarrass me in public?"

"Damn! Does she think that her man is someone that I might like? Does she look down on me?"

"I have Logan for crying out. Why should I bother with Dave?"

Briar regretted it greatly. If she had known that such a day would come when she would have to be accused of adultery like that, she would have made it clear to Dave earlier. That way she wouldn’t have faced such atrocity and be shamed in public.

The kids didn’t say a word but sat there quietly and let Briar vent out.

Briar’s mood changed for the better when they arrived. However, she wasn’t as happy as she used to be.

After sending the kids, she ordered the driver to take her home. She wasn’t in the mood to go anywhere.

However, she had no idea that once the chauffeur dropped her off; he sent the report over to Chris as well as the recordings he recorded of Briar’s rambling in the car.

She was just so angry and wanted to cool it off. However, her friend, who had been away again, dropped by. With her arrival, her mood got uplifted as she found someone to vent her anger with.

Briar and Vivian walked on the wide road wearing brim hats to hide from the scorching sun.

"Darling, are you sure that you will be okay? What if someone recorded the matter and posted it online?" after all the venting, Vivian couldn’t help but ask worriedly.

Briar, who hadn’t thought about such a matter, suddenly turned pale at the thought of that happening.

"Viv, you ..... do you think that .... Could someone have done that already?" dread filled her as she thought of tarnishing her husband’s name because of her recklessness.

Vivian, seeing her friend panicking, suddenly felt sorry for her. She couldn’t help but say comfortingly. "You said it happened suddenly. So, there is a chance that no one recorded anything. However, since we aren’t certain. I think that you need to come clean to your husband later when he comes!"

Briar wilted when she heard about confessing this matter to Logan. Lyra and Cade were with her when she was accused. She didn’t know if they would report to their father, but then there was the chauffeur. What if he had reported already?

If she doesn’t report herself, then what would Logan think about her?

’I guess I need to confess!’ she surmised, after seeing nowhere to run with this matter.

"I will cook a sumptuous meal for dinner. He will forgive me, right?"

Vivian chuckled lightly when she heard the method that Briar wanted to use. She couldn’t help but ask teasingly, "Will that be all?"

Briar scrunched her face as she looked at Vivian and asked, puzzlingly, "What more do you want me to do?"

When Vivian heard that, she nearly choked as she wasn’t expecting Briar’s mind to be that innocent at times.

She moved closer to her and whispered a few things in her ear. When Briar heard that, she pushed Vivian away, feeling the heat rising all the way to her head.

"You!!" she pointed her finger at Vivian, who was bursting with hearty laughter while looking at her. Her body trembling as she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

"Darling, trust me. That method will work. Don’t tell me, you ....."

Briar shied away, too embarrassed and shy to look at her friend. Vivian, seeing that, found the situation so funny she decided to educate her friend. She was going to enlighten her friend. Only when she is enlightened can she keep a man like Logan. So, the meeting of the two ended up being a lesson for Briar, which made her regret meeting with Vivian. If she had known that the other’s head was full of such things, she would have pretended to be sick or not around.

Unfortunately, she was too happy to see Vivian, and now she was in this situation. One that she couldn’t get out easily just because she wanted to.

When she returned home and saw the meal box, she was supposed to send to Logan later. Her heart started racing wildly as she thought about what Vivian had said.

Feeling too ashamed to recall such things, she left the kitchen and headed upstairs to take a cold shower and reduce the heat coursing through her body.

However, as she was looking for an outfit to wear to the company, her eyes found themselves lingering for a long time in the lingerie section. Her eyes looked conflicted, but after a while, resolution flashed through them and without hesitation picked the red lingerie Vivian purchased for her that other day.

When she wore it, she abashedly looked at her reflection and felt conflicted for a moment before she straightened her body, a sly smile blossoming on her face.

’It’s going to be interesting!’ she thought to herself before she started looking for the perfect dress to wear with this lingerie.

She was going to shut Logan up, no matter what.
