Chapter 363: Chapter 363: Playing Innocent After Gaining an Advantage
Qin Xin was scared out of her wits.
At this moment, the entire office was staring at the two women.
Their tangled relationships were something everyone in the office had long heard rumors about.
But these two women were kept in the dark, and yet, how did President Qiao figure it all out?
Everyone was utterly stunned, knowing full well how formidable Hu Qiming could be.
Just moments ago, he had walked out with his head down like a defeated rooster and voluntarily resigned—a scenario nearly impossible to imagine.
For someone inside to make him willingly step down, they must’ve had dirt on him and knew exactly where to hit.
Yao Ping emerged from the room and went straight to Qin Xin to settle scores. Clearly, President Qiao had exposed their secrets.
It was truly terrifying.
When everyone thought about it, the fear only deepened.
Yao Ping and Qin Xin began tearing into each other.
Neither woman gave ground, and soon both were sporting injuries.
A red mark appeared on both of their faces.
Li Chongming barked, "What kind of disgraceful behavior is this? Stop it!"
"Qin Xin." Suddenly, Qiao Rui’s voice echoed: "Come in."
Yao Ping refused to let her leave, screaming and yelling. "No one else will leave unscathed!"
"What’s all the noise about?" Qiao Rui’s figure appeared at the door, her voice heavy. "Yao Ping, do you want me to bring Hu Qiming’s wife here to confront you?"
With just one line, Yao Ping abruptly froze.
Qiao Rui glanced at Qin Xin, who looked equally petrified.
Yao Ping then broke down crying, visibly aggrieved.
Qiao Rui cast her a sideways glance and said, "Why are you crying? There’s no need for women to make things hard on each other. The one who wronged you wasn’t Qin Xin."
Yao Ping froze for a moment, then suddenly stormed out, intent on confronting Hu Qiming.
Qin Xin followed Qiao Rui into the office and met Qiao Rui’s sharp, penetrating gaze, her heart filled with unease.
Her hair was disheveled, messed up by Yao Ping, and the red mark on her face was nearly a wound.
Looking up cautiously at Qiao Rui, Qin Xin awkwardly said, "President Qiao, I’ll resign. I’m sorry for causing you trouble."
Qiao Rui gazed at her calmly. "Have you thought it through?"
"I have. I truly don’t have the face to stay here any longer." Qin Xin let out a bitter laugh. "Thank you for exposing the truth and making me realize I deserve this."
"You’re not beyond redemption," Qiao Rui said coolly. "But you’ve come to your senses faster than the other two. Honestly, I’d rather keep you here."
Qin Xin was taken aback, her eyes suddenly welling up with tears.
"Thank you, President Qiao. But I won’t stay." She smiled and shook her head. "I’m going back to my hometown and won’t return to Qingcheng again."
"That’s not necessary," Qiao Rui replied. "You can come back to Qingcheng anytime you want. If you need help, feel free to reach out to me."
"Thank you, President Qiao." Qin Xin smiled faintly once more. "I’ll go start the resignation process now."
"Alright." Qiao Rui watched her back as she walked away, letting out a sigh in her heart.
She learned quicker than the other two.
As soon as Qin Xin left, she went to resign. Coincidentally, she caught Yao Ping and Hu Qiming engaged in an all-out war, and she joined in.
The two women who were previously at each other’s throats suddenly united, partnering up to tear into Hu Qiming.
By the time security stepped in to pull them apart, Hu Qiming had scratches all over his body.
He didn’t dare say a word and snuck away in the chaos.
Qin Xin and Yao Ping left the company together and even went for coffee, casually arranging a meeting with Hu Qiming’s wife.
Qiao Rui eventually called in the office staff one by one, cleaning house systematically. Seven people quit altogether.
With Hu Qiming gone, a new office director had to be chosen.
Qiao Rui picked Zhong Yu directly, someone who had once been Hu Qiming’s rival but had been sidelined for his honesty.
Upon her announcement, those remaining begrudgingly accepted the decision, and no one dared to voice objections.
With seven people gone in a streak, the previously chaotic executive office felt noticeably quieter. The troublemakers were gone, leaving only a handful of timid individuals who couldn’t afford to lose their jobs.
Fang Mo was thoroughly impressed with Qiao Rui.
In less than two hours, she had everyone in the office tidied up and under control.
Her efficiency was absolutely top-notch.
Fang Mo was in awe, practically worshiping her; he felt there was no need for him to stay behind, as Mrs. Qiao could clearly handle everything with complete ease.
By 4:30 in the afternoon, Qiao Rui told Fang Mo to head home.
At five o’clock.
Qiao Rui took the copies of the accounts, prepared by Gai Yin, and returned to the Qiao Family residence.
As soon as she entered the living room, she saw Elder Qiao seated on the sofa, with the crying Qiao Family matriarch, Lin Hailan, beside him.
She was weeping to Elder Qiao, who looked thoroughly annoyed, his brows tightly furrowed, saying nothing.
"Dad, things can’t go on like this. If it does, what will Junxian do in the future?"
Just as Qiao Rui overheard these words at the entryway, she walked in.
When Lin Hailan spotted Qiao Rui, her expression turned sharp and her voice became screechy. "Qiao Rui, you’re here at the perfect time. I was just about to look for you."
"Oh, really? Auntie, what might you need me for?" Qiao Rui’s tone was exceptionally casual. "No need to congratulate me on my new presidency. After all, the Qiao Family business is on the verge of collapse, thanks to Uncle. My position is basically held by the CEO of a shell company—if I can revive it, that’s my good fortune; if I fail, I’ll simply take the blame for Uncle when the company goes bankrupt."
Elder Qiao cast Qiao Rui an annoyed glance, knowing that once she started speaking, her words would be unrelenting, with one response ricocheting into ten more.
Lin Hailan sneered coldly. "You sure know how to act like you’re suffering while benefiting from the situation."
"Yes, because it’s far better than gaining nothing but still pretending to suffer, wouldn’t you agree?" Qiao Rui replied, unapologetically.
Lin Hailan trembled in anger. "Dad, do you see this? Look at her! Not only has she stolen Qiao Xiang’s happiness, but now she wants to take away Junxian’s position. I predict it won’t be long before she claims the entire Qiao Family business for herself!"
Elder Qiao remained silent.
"Pfft!" Qiao Rui couldn’t hold back a laugh. "Stolen Qiao Xiang’s happiness? Pray tell, Auntie, how exactly am I supposed to have done that?"
"Do you even need me to spell it out? If it weren’t for you, Qiao Xiang and Liyan would’ve been together long ago!"
"I’m afraid that’s just wishful thinking on your part," Qiao Rui chuckled. "Pei Liyan isn’t interested in your daughter. Is that too blunt for me to say?"
"You better not take advantage of your current rise to power to act out." Lin Hailan chastised angrily. "Watch yourself, or you’ll pay the price someday."
"Don’t worry, Auntie. With your family setting an example of what not to do, I’ll be sure to keep myself in check. Otherwise, ending up in prison would embarrass us all immensely."
"Who are you accusing of going to prison?" Lin Hailan widened her eyes in fury. "Watch yourself, or I’ll sue you for slander!"
"Go ahead and try," Qiao Rui said nonchalantly. "The kidnapping case involving your daughter hasn’t been fully silenced yet, and evidence of Uncle’s crimes has kept coming to light." She casually shook the document folder in her hand. "If I hand these over, Uncle might be facing quite a lengthy sentence behind bars."
"Don’t bother trying to scare me!" Lin Hailan barked. "It’s clear you have ulterior motives."
"Mm!" Qiao Rui nodded, her tone calm yet cutting. "Since you think I have ulterior motives, why don’t I send both your husband and daughter behind bars to seal the deal—nice and clean for everyone involved."
