LUCIAN’S POV

We arrived at the KODA council almost midday the next day because Hunter had sent his enforcers to get the statement of what had happened during the time Duciana kidnapped and drugged me. Conri’s growl from the corner of the room helped as they hurriedly asked questions and disappeared after an hour. After they left, we had a meeting with Zeeb, Anisha, and Tala about the office and the construction site. We agreed that Zeeb would take over the construction site while Anisha and Tala would run Due Corporation until everything settled down.

I tasked Zeeb to investigate the shipments to Japan that Lobo Aria was making. I know that Tizheruk was one step ahead of us, but it would not hurt to have a second eye following Lobo.

The KODA council members Elder Zaya, Ralph Isla, Luna Elijah, and Benjamin were already present at the hall as Conri and I walked in, accompanied by Everest.

"Greetings KODA council members. "I piped while Conri refused to speak.

"Should I say welcome?" Boris Carter snickered.

"You don’t need to speak, Boris," Benjamin responded.

"Where is Alpha Lobo?" Luna impatiently asked Boris.

"He is on his way" Boris made an excuse for him.

"Our work is not to wait for him, "Luna snapped at him, forcing Boris to remain mute.

We sat at the corner in waiting and soon heard the growls of Hunter’s wolves and knew that Alpha Lobo had arrived. The door of the council hall opened and Lobo Aria walked in, accompanied by Hunter.

"Keep the hunting wolves outside" Benjamin stood up and addressed the hunter.

He stood his ground, but Lobo nodded. Hunter complied, but he seemed shocked that Lobo let Benjamin have his way. Once Alpha Lobo sat down, Luna was the first to speak. "Now that we have all assembled here, let us tackle the matter at hand. Yesterday, Ducian Due and Lyal Aria crossed the line. They kidnapped CEO Lucian and drugged him with Napella. Thank God his mate Conri was able to trace him and they rescued him. Hunter here is a witness as he was present in the hotel room during the rescue. The pack rules are clear on how we should deal with such delinquents. Duciana has been at it for years and no one ever got evidence, but the involvement of Lyal Aria changes everything. What do you have to say for yourself, Alpha Lobo?"

"I am not in control of what my brother does, "Alpha Lobo snickered.

"Yet you have been protecting him all this time," Benjamin snapped at Alpha Lobo.

"He is my younger brother, "Alpha Lobo defended himself. "One had to protect his family"

"The pack rules are clear, the punishment for such a crime is life imprisonment, " Everest spoke up.

" I hope that you will stick to the pack rules. " Elder Zaya’s eyes blazed.

"We need to investigate where Duciana got the napella. Such a drug is not available locally in Alaska and it takes a lot of money to ship it in. This is how Duciana has been luring young wolves. The pack enforcers need to take action" Luna’s firm and assertive voice rose in the room.

"Using drugs on the young wolves is a crime punishable by exile," Everest stated.

"You are going too far’ Alpha Lobo growled.

"Is he?" Elder Zaya stood up and growled so loud, shocking all of us. "You are so good at following pack rules, why don’t you do the same now"

Lobo Aria looked away, and we watched as his hand trembled.

"I, Luna Elijah, member of the KODA council, declare that Ducian Due and Lyal Aria be sentenced to life imprisonment in the Alaska Chugan jail" Luna stood up.

"I second her decision," Elder Zaya added.

"Me too," Benjamin spoke up.

Ralpha Isla remained seated, staring at Conri in a daze. Elder Zaya turned to him and snickered, " You seem to be in a daze Ralph, is my godson so handsome?"

Ralph turned to Elder Zaya and then whispered, "I was lost in thought. My apologies, I second whatever decision the three of you make "

I could tell that Ralph was not happy that the Adora crystal powers were gone and hence the reason why he kept staring at Conri.

"It’s four votes against three. What do you say, Lobo?" Luna demanded.

"Since the KODA council has decided, we shall abide by the decision," Alpha Lobo responded in hushed tones.

"What about the investigation of the Napella? "Everest insisted.

"I am sure Hunter will pick it up," Luna smiled at Hunter.

The smile must have gotten Hunter off-guard as he stared at Luna like she had grown horns. In the end, he nodded in acceptance.

"Now that we have the matter settled, I am leaving to go and rest. My body is tired and weak," Elder Zaya stated, and Ralph Isla’s eyes widened at her statement.

"There is another matter that I would like handled by the KODA council. "I spoke up.

"What is it?" Luna inquired.

"I went to Council Hall to follow up on Conri’s property and got drugged. It’s been three months since our wedding and yet I am told that it’s the pack’s main office that has refused to release the documents. Hence I invited the mayor today for this"

"Who the hell refused to give the documents? They have been ready for a while," Alpha Lobo interjected.

"I am glad you are here. Can you send them over? It would be a call away and someone would deliver here the documents under the witness of the KODA council," I responded Alpha Lobo.

He seemed uncomfortable for a few seconds, but he turned to Hunter and nodded. Hunter walked out of the hall and the door closed.

"I sent men to survey and check the mines that Conri owns. I discovered that someone had been secretly mining gold and dug an underground tunnel to it. It seems that the mine accident a few days ago is also related to it. I would urge Alpha Lobo to investigate this further. Just because my mate was exiled does not mean that anyone had a right to his property. And I will not stand for it"

"Gold? Did you say gold? " Ralph Isla spoke up in shock.

"Yes. "Conri finally spoke for the first time. "I want this matter handled," His deep voice commanded the room.

"Agreed. Alpha Lobo, have this matter prioritized" Elder Zaya added and Lobo’s eyes burnt with anger and fury for a few minutes and then he looked away from everyone and said "Sure"

"I heard you are meticulous and fair, "I spoke to Alpha Lobo.

"I must remind you that Conri is with you only for three years as you build the Resort" Alpha Lobo smirked.

"So what? "I leaned back in the chair and smirked.

"He is not clear of Lupe’s death," Alpha Lobo emphasized.

"That is true. I wonder why I smelt the Cinnabar crystals when I found Lupe’s body mutilated. It was the same scent as the mangy wolves that attacked us "Conri’s calm voice rose over the room.

"What do you mean? "Benjamin asked.

" When I found Lupe Due in the woods, she had asked me to meet her because she was going to announce to the pack that she would break the engagement. Someone had lured her to trick me into a compromising position and when her father, Fridolf Due, found us, I had no option but to agree to the marriage. I never spoke up then since I regretted her death, and it filled me with anguish and remorse. I felt the presence of someone in the woods that day, but I was so engrossed in trying to save Lupe. She stopped me from saving her and I lost her. I have been in the mountains for too long and never interfered with the pack matters. But an attack on Lucian is one that I can’t tolerate. "Conri’s voice was filled with threats.

"You have no right to speak before the KODA council, "Alpha Lobo stood up.

Conri moved with speed, stood before Alpha Lobo, growled down at him, and in seconds Alpha Lobo landed on his knees. The action made us all stand up in shock. The power that was emitted from Conri was immense and that of a true Alpha.

"Lobo Aria, you are no match for me. You better get that through your thick skull. If I find out that you instructed your brother and Duciana to kidnap Lucian, I will bite your head off. "Conri growled and then walked back to his chair like nothing happened.

The door of the KODA hall opened and Hunter walked in. He spotted Alpha Lobo on his knees and rushed to help him up. "What happened Alpha ?"

We all watched Lobo seething with anger as he pushed Hunter’s hand away and said, "Did you bring the documents as agreed? "

He nodded and handed me the documents. " Here you go"

"About time, "I stated, while my eyes remained glued to Conri with admiration and love.

"You can all leave. I would like a word with the KODA council members. " Ralph Isla’s voice rose in the room while he stared at Conri with anger.

As we stood up to leave with Conri and Everest, Conri smirked at Ralph and said, "I want everyone to see your true nature and your colors"
