Chapter 72: DISTANCE CLOSED

When I came into it, I was lying on a bed. I looked around and noted that I was in a well-furnished bedroom. The curtains were closed, hence I knew it was still night. I could see the trees outside as the wind picked up. I lifted my body from the bed and groaned as my head hurt. I was in brutal pain as I sat down and rubbed my temples.

"I can smell our mate. " My wolf rose and paced.

"Shit," I cursed out loud and attempted to stand up. But my body gave way and my stomach growled hungrily and I sat back on the bed.

"What are you doing?" Everest’s voice rose from the door.

I turned to stare at him. He had no shirt and his upper torso was so well-built that I swallowed hard, admiring him with no shame. My eyes lifted to his, and he laughed. " Even when you are this sick, you have time to be shameless?"

"Why don’t you have a shirt on?:" I managed to utter.

"This is my house. I can do whatever I want. " He chuckled.

"Really? "I put my legs on the bed and whispered, "You can take the pants off too"

He looked startled and then said, "Get yourself to the dining room. Food is ready. "with that, he disappeared from the door, and not before I saw the wild look in his eyes.

I welcome the fact that he left since being close to him made me dizzy and my cock hard. I leaned back on the bed and then heard Everest panting as he walked back to the room, already wearing a shirt, picked me up unceremoniously, and walked out of the room. Going through a well-lit corridor, we ended up in the living room and then went straight to the dining table. He placed me on the chair so gently and my eyes went to the food that had been prepared. The growl in my stomach hit me again, and Everest picked a plate and served me.

He placed the plate in front of me that had pork chops, chicken, and roasted potatoes. I never hesitated for a second as I picked up the fork and hungrily ate the meal. The food was so delicious that I kept nodding at Everest in between meals while he chewed the meat slowly as he watched me.

"You can cook. " I finally dropped the fork after I emptied the plate.

"There is more food. Eat, "He commanded.

I stood up and felt my body back to normal as I served a second filling, sat down, and ate to my heart’s content.

"You eat as if you never had such meals," Everest chuckled.

"I don’t," I responded and picked up the glass of juice in front of me, sipping it down as the flavors burst into my mouth. It surprised me that it was fresh juice. "Were you a cook before you went into construction ?"

He shook his head and responded, "I love good food and hence I learned how to cook"

I nodded and praised him. " You cook well Sable. "

His eyes widened, and he looked away.

"Why did you bring me to your home? You should have just dumped me or left me at the office. " I leaned back in the chair and demanded.

"I should have. " He turned to face and his eyes blazed at me.

"No need to be defensive." I raised my hand to him. "Thank you, darling, for taking care of your mate," I teased.

"You are pushing it Levi" He muttered and chuckled.

"I told you. I don’t have any other choice. Conri and Lucian’s mating encouraged me to be bold. I need to break all the walls and barriers that you have placed around yourself."

"What is wrong with your health? "He demanded, and I knew he was deflecting.

"Are you kidding me?" I whispered.

He stared at me with a blank expression.

"As your mate, I suffer from withdrawal symptoms since you rejected the idea of us being mates. I throw up when I eat and I have constant headaches."

"What?" I thought you were kidding, " He responded in a hushed, regretful tone.

"It’s been five years, Sable. "

He cleared his throat and stated, " I don’t know what to say "

"Stop pushing me away"

"Fine," He nodded.

"Really?" I whispered in happiness.

"Go to bed. I need to do the dishes. "He chased me away.

I stood up, picked up the glass of water, and walked back the way we came into the living room. His house was so well furnished that one would think a woman lived there.

"My sister did the decor. " Everest was standing at the door holding a glass of water.

"Are you a mind reader?" I chuckled, shook my head, and then added, "Can I take a shower, please?"

"Sure, towels are in the bathroom and I am sure you can find a shirt that can fit. " He spoke as he disappeared into the kitchen.

I walked down the corridor to the open bedroom. Placing the glass of water by the bed, I stripped down and folded my clothes, placing them on the chair. I walked to the pass closest to the bathroom and gasped in surprise. How clean was Everest? Everything was arranged so well that I shook my head in disbelief.

Getting into the shower, I welcomed the scalding water as it hit my body and soothed it. I have no idea how long I stood until I felt my body become too lax. Soaping it down, I scrubbed my body, rinsed it, and then stepped out of the shower. I picked a towel and wrapped myself around it. I picked another small towel, dried my hair and I felt there were no drops of water left. I left the bathroom, switched off the light, and walked into the open closet. I picked a large T-shirt and then shorts that reached my legs.

With no underwear, I felt uncomfortable and paced up and down before finally deciding to walk into the bedroom. Everest was seated by the bed, reading a book, and he was back to being shirtless. He looked up and snapped the book closed.

"Come to bed, "He stated.

"That sounds like an invitation Sable," I whispered as I slowly walked towards him and stood staring down at him.
