" No please " One of the guards’ eyes showered fear and raised his hands in a defensive stance.

We stood in waiting and then two guards appeared and stood in shock when they spotted us.

" What is going on?" The guards who appeared demanded. " Who are you? "

" Run" the guards yelled and the two guards turned back to run only to see Oliver and Graham walking towards them.

" Took you long enough "Commander Abram snickered and Graham.

" We needed to wait for them to leave the caves," Oliver stated.

" You lured us here on purpose. " One of them cursed as they moved closer to each other and stood while pressing their backs on each other.

" Shit, the master is in danger " The other attempted to flee but Sable moved so fast and interjected and blocked their path.

" Where the fuck do you think you are going ?" Graham snickered.

" Come on " Oliver tilted his head and they left, leaving Sable, Jerush and I to watch the guards.

" Do you think you can subdue him?" One of the guards snickered.

" I think that Commander Abram is thirsty and would feed on him," Jerusha laughed.

" You are bluffing. ’’ The guard stated and Jerusha smiled and showed his fangs.

They all staggered back in fear and I growled happily.

" You are enjoying this too much brother in law" Jerusha snickered at me.

Twenty minutes later, Commander Abram appeared dragging someone unconscious and then throwing him on the ground. Oliver and Graham were behind looking smug and happy.

" Hunter, you need to follow me to the caves," Oliver stated.

I never took time to look at the man they had dragged along as we raced to the caves and the scent of blood was so strong that Hemming growled in anger. The sight that I mate in the caves was enough to drive anyone crazy. Bodies were scattered all over the caves. Different shifters, wolves, serpents, and even vampires. The pungent smell of blood being drained or even deep slashes on the wounds were evident.

I shifted into my human form and Oliver seemed to understand that I was in shock and needed to see this firsthand.

" What the fuck is this? How could anyone be this cruel" I growled and closed my eyes in frustration.

" Hunter, we have seen this before. In the village that we visited before near Sitka. At first, we never saw the bodies but the scent of blood was repulsive. It was such a sore sight that we had to leave and turned a blind eye. Our mission was more important and we needed to get back to the Middle East."

" How long ago?" I demanded.

" Ten years back. " I responded.

" Have we been blind and living under a rock? How can people get away with killings like this?"

"Commander Abram seemed more shocked than you," Oliver whispered.

" Is this about Shifter powers? " I growled

" So it seems. Most of the shifters along the water seem to believe that the snake’s shifters can merge with other shifters without necessarily being bitten or born. This is all about greed and the thirst for power. Unlike Conri and Lucian who have been blessed by the gods, the others just want to take the power " Oliver stated and there was this sad look on his face.

" Why do I feel that you are holding back information? ’’ I growled at him.

" One of the missions that we have ever failed was the one we were sent to rescue a shifter soldier that had been captured by pirates. When we got there, the whole ship had dead shifters all over. It was like a wave had passed through the ship and taken all their shifter powers. I heard that it was Aipaloovik’s magic of the dark serpents. "

" There is something wrong with the old generation" I cursed and shifted back into my wolf form.

We left the caves and rushed back to the forest where we found Commander Abram looking bored and living on a tree while Jerusha and Graham circled the guards and Sable stood on guard.

" Did you see it ?" Commander Abram’s eyes blazed.

I growled and walked over to the body they had dragged and stood in shock as he was a spitting image of Maurice Isla. We had found the twin!! I heard Sable growl and I knew he had seen him too.

" We better go back. " Commander Abram picked up the unconscious body and carried him along as he moved with speed and left us.

" What about these guards? " Jerusha asked.

" We shall bring them over. You and Sable go back. You need to get to the pack before it gets dark and report to Conri and the pack " Oliver stated.

We left the border and rushed back to the Golden Shifter. By the time we arrived Conri and Lucian were still at the pack offices. Commander Abram had already arrived with Maurice’s twin. Tala and Levy met us at the door and we went directly into the pack changing room and shifted back to human form.

" How did it go?" Tala asked.

" Oh love, today I witnessed the scenes of a massacre" I whispered back to her. " Come on let us go and meet with Conri and Lucian"

" I thought you would never arrive " Commander Abram smirked as he sat at the corner of Conri’s office.

" Who can match your speed?" Lucian chuckled as we walked into the room and found Lovita, Aurora, Levy, Everest, Benjamin, and Kieth. Tala and I sat by the window and then Commander Abram narrated to Conri his findings.

Aurora stood up in shock and shock " You saw it? First hand ?"

" Yes. So did Hunter" Commander Abram responded.

Aurora walked to me and said " Hunter, allow me please " She stretched her hand towards me. I extended my hand to her and then she created a blue magic ray and we all saw what I saw in the cave. Hundreds of dead shifters and the scent of blood were vivid around us.

" What the fuck ?" Lovita gasped.

" Is this for real?" Levy demanded and I nodded.

" So many deaths," Tala whispered in fear.

Aurora waved her hand and the magic ray disappeared. " Can you describe the smell around the cave?"

" Scent of blood, rotten bodies, no shifter powers, and something dark " Commander Abram reported. ’ This is not the first time we have witnessed a scene like this"

" What ?" Conri stood up in shock.

" Ten years ago we witnessed a scene like this. One of the missions that we failed. The person had been kidnapped and we followed the pirate ship but only dead bodies. " He explained.

"Asheral the dark shifter that we met on Sitka told us that this is the Aipaloovik magic of the dark serpents" Conri spoke up.

" Oliver narrated the same to me" I stated.

" Was this the time I went back to Chugach?" Lucian asked.

" Yes," Commander Abram asked.

" Where are Oliver, Jerusha, and Graham?" Conri asked.

" They are coming with prisoners we captured in the mountains. They seem to have information about their master and the fact that he plans to rescue Maurice Isla from the KODA council jail. ’’ Everest spoke up.

" If I am not wrong this is shifter power harvesting. The person doing this must have started this as a hobby but not an addition that will not go away. He does not care the kind of shifter he captures but he is just saying his need and desire for shifter magic" Commander Abram pointed out.

" Ten years is a long time. Why has this been done under our noses? " Lucian asked.

" Killing shifters for power " Conri’s eyes blazed and Lucian placed a hand on his shoulders to calm him down.

" Making mangy wolves army with shifter wolves and now they are dead. How many deaths must be committed for someone’s greed? " Lucian seethed.

" We are facing an enemy that is a ghost, ’’ Commander Abram reported. " You need to prepare a cell for the guards coming over with Oliver, Jerusha, and Graham.
