Chapter 321: FAMILY HUNT

HUNTER’S POV

Commander Abram and his team settled in Elder Zaya’s home with Aspen. The scornful look on his face was evident as they left the KODA council hall after we agreed to meet at dawn for the Hunter. Everest had dragged Levy home as Keith and Addison went back to the house that Elder Zaya had bought them.

The Isla home had been closed off and Levy and Keith had discussed how they would demolish it and build a parking lot around it. The place had too many bad memories and it was a good decision. As we drove home with Tala, her brows were furrowed and I knew she was as disturbed as I was.

"Your face will have wrinkles at the rate at which you are frowning " I scolded her.

" Don’t take your temper out on me. " She retorted hence I chose to remain silent until we got home. Once in the house, Tala got busy cooking while I sat near the wolves’ kennels and played with them." Get in the house Hunter " I heard Tala yell and knew that dinner was ready.

" Smells good " I made conversation once I walked into the kitchen as we sat down to eat.

"Of course " Tala noted. " But it can’t compare with Elanor’s cooking "

I did not respond to her answer since I knew she was picking a fight and we had a quiet dinner and afterward. Once done, I chose to do the dishes and Tala went to take a bath. An hour later I went up the stairs and found that Tala was already in bed. After taking a shower, I joined her in the bed and pulled her close into a warm cuddle.

" Hunter, I am worried, " she finally voiced her thoughts.

" So am I, " I whispered.

" Alpha Conri lost control today and we all felt it. The pressure from all this madness is getting to all of us. I am tired and I can imagine how he feels. " Tala huffed.

" Is someone out to make us feel the pressure? How much more can the pack endure? I am glad that Lobo and Isamu are on our side at last or else we would be outnumbered. But how many people died before we could make them understand that family comes first?"

" Exactly. The deaths of Eliana Due and Lovita Aria were the final blow. I can’t handle it anymore. I saw Alistar drop dead, I felt the pang in my heart over and over again. " Tala confessed.

" My love " I pulled close as I felt her voice break and knew she was crying.

" Hunter, I am so scared. I am scared to get pregnant. How do I bring a child into this mess? ?" Tala whispered.

I turned her around and her face was filled with tears and I understood how she felt. I pressed my lips on her as a comfort and she responded and clung to me in desperation. Making love was full of desperation as Tala’s emotions kicked him. I held her and loved her until she fell asleep.

I was up early the next day and Tala stirred and asked " Are you leaving ?"

"Yes. I’m meeting up with Everest and Commander Abram for the hunt."

" You need to be kind to Aspen. He found a whole Battalion to protect him and all of us. I am grateful that our family has grown and we have more of us. It’s a blessing and you don’t need to be too hard on him" Tala advised.

" I know. It’s just hard to accept that Aspen has grown up" I complained.

Tala laughed and placed a hand on my cheek affectionately. " Thank you, Hunter. You have given me so much love and a good family. "

" So have you. I can now be called Uncle " I nodded.

" Be safe " She lowered her hand and I took it and placed a loving kiss on it.

" I will " I promised and left the house.

I found Everest, Commander Abram, and Jerusha had already arrived at the meeting point.

" You are late " Everest smiled

" What’s the plan ?" I deflected and looked away.

" Good morning to you too " Commander Abram spoke up.

" Did you sleep well ?" My eyes bore at him and he burst out laughing and shook his head in disbelief.

" How do you expect me to answer ?" Commander Abram responded.

" He would have an aneurysm if we answered, " Jerusha laughed.

" I would like to hear " Everest pressed on.

" Shut up " I scolded him and repeated, " What is your plan ?"

" We need to move North and head towards the waters near Sitka. Let us see what we find. " Everest states " It would be best to hunt in wolf form. "

" Jerush and I will take the trees while you cover the ground " Commander Abram stated.

" What about the caves?" I asked.

"Oilver and Graham are already ahead of us," Commander Abram smiled. " Aspen is spending the day with Addison and Keith. "

" Great. I am glad we will be able to hunt together" I nodded at Commander Abram and twenty minutes later we took off to the trees. The sun was out but the cold wind of Mount Chugach blew down the mountain and the wind even picked up more as we moved to the north. The snow that had raged down the mountain was melting and it made the grounds slippery as we headed to the Northern border.

The sound of the raging water made us slow down as we arrived at the waterfall that was between Sitka and Chugach. Everest slowed down and he seemed to have heard something. Hemming listened in and then heard the sound of two people laughing. We moved to the forest trees and hid in waiting.

We watched two of them walk through the forest and they laughed and had a good conversation.

" Do you think that Master will succeed in getting Maurice back to us?" One of them asked.

"Of course. Master is formidable and will be able to get Maurice back tomorrow" The other stated.

" How about the serpent sea god? "

" He is blinded and is in Sitka. One of the members of the Sitka council is helping the master and the other is that old man from the pearl farm and one of the guards in the pack offices. "

" How can they be stupid to be so trusting? " They both laughed.

" Master is above them all. I heard that the pack Alpha is the King of wolves. He subdued the army we had raised and killed them all. "

" That is one person I would like to meet"

" Everyone wants to meet him. A person who can subdue more than three thousand wolves must be immortal"

" What about the serpent sea god? Isn’t he immortal?"

" But master knows his weakness" They chuckled and then stopped walking when Commander Abram stood before them.

" I thought this forest was abandoned. " Commander Abram drawled. " I have been walking for hours and am fortunate to meet the two of you here. Can you offer some help? The direction to Sitka"

" Who are you? We don’t talk to strangers " One of them snapped.

" Okay fine. I will find my way then" He brushed them off and attempted to walk away and the other man asked, " Why do you need to go to Sitka?"

" I heard that Governor Alexander has invited his old friends to celebrate the birth of the serpent prince and princess. " Commander Abram supplied.

" What?" They both looked shocked.

"Mmh" He nodded and shrugged his shoulders. And turned around and began to walk away. The two guards rushed to attack Commander Abram and he used vampire speed and moved up the trees. The guards looked shocked and Jerusha appeared. Commander Abram spotted us and signaled us to show ourselves.

" What the fuck are you?" One of them yelled.

" Your worst nightmare " Commander Abram went down and landed on the ground.

" We are screwed " One of them whispered and then Sable appeared from the woods and walked towards Jerusha.

" I would suggest you remain where you are and answer the questions that we ask," Jerusha smirked.

" We can outrun them" One of them comforted the other.

" Can you ?" Jerusha snickered and that is when I made an appearance and growled so loud that they all fell on the ground. The two shifters were serpents but thier powers were faint and I could hardly feel it. It seems suppressed or controlled.

" You always love making an entrance ?" Commander Abram demanded.

" Brother inlaw wolf is a sight to behold " Jerusha laughed.

" They are coming with us, " Commander Abram stated.

Sable growled and walked around them and then snarled as he bared his teeth at them.

"What do you want? " One of them demanded.

" I listened to your conversation earlier and it seems that your master is planning on rescuing that evil Maurice Isla" Jerusha chuckled.

" We never said anything " They both responded.

" You see the man over there?" Jerusha pointed at Commande rAbram. He is the most impatient out of the four of us. Can you sense what he is?"

The two of them stared at Commander Abram and then shook their heads.

" Exactly," Jerusha responded. " Your master is nothing compared to him."

I sensed the presence of another guard before I saw him. Commander Abram spoke up " It seems we have more of them coming this way. The more the merrier. I can feel the way your blood is pumping in your veins. I bet you would taste good"

" What ?" They both gasped in shock and terror filled their eyes.
